  • Cinderella "Still Climbing": A Hidden Gem Album: The American rock band Cinderella released their fourth and final studio album, Still Climbing, on November 8, 1994, through Mercury Records. However, the release of the album was delayed due to lead vocalist Tom Keifer losing his voice in 1991.
During a performance at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia in 1985, Cinderella first introduced "Talk Is Cheap" and "Freewheelin" to their audience. The version of "Talk Is Cheap" performed during the 1980s was shorter in duration and had a faster tempo compared to the final version recorded for Still Climbing. Prior to recording their debut album Night Songs, the band also created a demo of "Talk Is Cheap" around 1985.
The song "Hot & Bothered" initially appeared on the soundtrack album Wayne's World: Music from the Motion Picture in 1992.
Stylistically, Still Climbing maintained the stripped-down, bluesy sound that Cinderella had started exploring in their previous album, Heartbreak Station. Bassist Eric Brittingham expressed his appreciation when people recognized the band's transition from glam metal to blues-based rock, finding it "refreshing."

I absolutely love this album. This was actually the first album of theirs I bought after I saw them in concert in the 2000.

@HairMetalRevolution Now thats a hard question. All their albums are awesome. And so are Tom Keifer's solo albums. But right now, I've been manly listening to Heartbreak Station.

It is very hard but If I had to pick one it’s “Night Songs” because its the first album I ever bought so it has so much meaning for me but every album is so good

Just saw Tom play a few weeks ago. He still has it. Dude is talented beyond belief. Long Cold Winter is still my favorite Cinderella album.

I still say that the best intro to any song is Bad Seamstress Blues / Fallin' Apart At The Seams, I love that intro so much!

Thank you so much and total respect to you for recognising and bigging up this album, this artist, and such amazing songwriting. Tom Keifer and Cinderella and the Keifer band make such real and uplifting music. Tapping into and creating feeling of bravery, thankfulness, and strength. They get me through!

@@HairMetalRevolution There are a lot of hair metal records after grunge became popular, like this one, Tesla Bust A Nut, Motley 94, Vince's Exposed, even Carved in Stone i really love, and then Great White Can't get there from Here, Posion's Native Tongue, Warrant's Dog Eat Dog, Arcade. Great songwriting on all of them.

The first song feels like a slower version of motorheads if the sky comes looking for you

As a fan of mostly Old School Christian Christian hard Rock and Metal, a similar thing happened in Christian Metal as it did in the mainstream bands. By the early 90s alternative or newer bands were being signed. The older bands had 3 choices in some respect: 1. Stop and fulfill the existing music contracts. 2. Do alternative music like the younger bands. Unfortunately many went this route. 3. Make the music more bluesier. This worked for many bands. A few bands survived the 90s and the early 2000s like Firehouse, Aerosmith, Def Leppard and others. I also want to make another point. It was only in North America that Grunge and Alternative was the latest fad and the older 80s Hard Rock were pushed out. In Europe, South America and the South Pacific people still liked the Hard Rock and Metal and the newer Grunge music. Bands were strongly encouraged to sign distribution deals in other geographic areas like JVC Victor and Pony Canyon in Japan. Impellitteri and Mr. Big did this in the 90s and that's why they are still successful today. When the early 2000s came around and the Older Hard Rock came around again these bands who had markets overseas started to be popular again and radio stations started to play their music once again.

Hidden gem? You got that right! Time to dust it off, and give it a spin. Hell, I might just bust out The Mercury Years boxset. I'm kinda in the mood, anyway. Just scored tickets for The Tom Keifer Band and Faster Pussycat, later this summer! Can't freakin' wait!

Hot take: Grunge was a corporate-pushed flash in the pan fad. Yes, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains (and to a lesser degree STP) were great bands, but that genre died as quickly as it came because it was pure hot garbage aside from those bands. And what were they replaced by? Metal, albeit a lot of cringe inducing garbage.
