    I've rewatched this video several times to learn... A couple questions.. many wrap there stainless steel in a foil while heat treating.. no need too? Do you just heat to non magnetic? What compounds do you use at the end for sanding... Last question... Promise... Are you using tools to get symmetry or eye balling it... Your work is very inspirational 👍

    That was 440c stainless steel isn’t it? Do you have a temperature control on your forge or some way of knowing the temperature? You have to soak the steel at 1040 degrees Celsius (from the top of my head) and air cool or quench between aluminium plates for best result. Do you know if the blade is properly hardened?

    • @artisticson2275
      @artisticson2275  4 роки тому +1

      That's right... ...that's the best...^^

    • @brianpierce5786
      @brianpierce5786 4 роки тому +2

      I was wondering if I was the only one that noticed the simple oil quench on Stainless steel... Although you did just state one of the easiest SS quench's that I have ever heard of. Where did you hear about the soak at 1040 then air cool? I was under the impression that it was a series of controlled soaks with a stepdown in temperature at certain intervals.

    • @tbkustomknives8907
      @tbkustomknives8907 4 роки тому +1

      @@brianpierce5786 yes that’s right it’s more complicated than just a 1040 soak and air cool or quench, it’s something like 10 minutes at 760 degrees then ramp up to 30 minutes at 1040 degrees then quench (I use aluminium quench plates though). There are many different recipes out there but this is just what I use

      그런데 저 WD40 제품을 연마에 사용하시는 특별한 이유가 있으신가요? 숫돌이라면 물을 뿌리는게 보통이고, 호닝 오일이라면 일반적인 미네랄 오일인데 WD-40 윤활유를 사용하시는 이유가 있으신지 궁금합니다.
