About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

Most people have no idea how hard it is to make a knife like this... amazing work
I mean I’ve forged knifes a couple of years an cutting out a metal piece and sanding it isn’t that hard for anyone
The steel was rectangular and flat. He scribed the shape, ground it and then heat-treated it. It might be hard if you don’t have the equipment. But like the guy before me said, not difficult.
I watch many knife makers and I'm rarely compelled to comment, but your pieces are really quite stunning. Excellent craftsmanship.
Thank you very much!
Same here. He got a new sub! What a joy to find this man & his making. Outstanding!!!
I love the needle scaler finish on that. It looks great!
Thank you!
Absolutely love this! I've been a little stagnant on knife making, and can't find a design I like. This, I love!
You have some of the coolest techniques that I'd never think of. Thanks for videos like this that show your whole process!
Thank you very much! And you're welcome. I learned to make knives 100% from UA-cam so it only seems right to add to the collection of info here😀👍
I love watching you work dude. Great work. Can’t wait to start on my next winter knife making project!
Thank you so much! 🙏👍

Beautiful knife design, love the Japanese style chef knives.
Very cool effect with the needle scaler. Well done.
Free hand grinding.. This is the real craftmanship and a talented maker. Congrats and greetings from Hungary.
Thank you very much, I appreciate it! 👍
ok that's one of the dopest knives I've seen yet
Thank you!
I just started watching knife craftsmanship videos a couple weeks ago before I get my feet wet. This is one of my favs. Love your work. Keep up the vids!
Really awesome! I love watching someone that is used to working in metal work with wood. The thought process is so different but interesting!
Needle scaler is the cat's MEOW. beautiful just beautiful .
Hahaha yeah! 👍
I learned a lot of technique from you. That's a good job.
Thank you
That is an insanely beautiful knife. Outstanding!!!
I need one of those in my life. Beautiful knife!!
I'm impressed with the entire process. The result?... Amazing knife. Congrats!!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that. 🙏👍
I love watching someone making stuff with care....... take a bow.
Beautiful craftsman ship! Elegant. Great video also! Thank you!
Tack Sharp is what I say !!!!!!!! Love the handle too !!!,. I just cut my first knife on Wed and the handle and when its done I will post it Facebook
Maaaan, that’s a beauty of a knife my friend. Nice work as always!!
Thanks so much Nathan! I really appreciate that buddy! 👍
Beautiful job. Never seen or thought of using a needle scaler like that before. Love watching your work flow. The new disc sander seems to be able to get those handle materials super flat. Also love seeing you use your mill. Man... you always have the best tools! LoL. Awesome!
Haha yeah. Thanks buddy. Few people recognize the needle scaler😀👍. So far the disc is impressing me . Just like anything though, it’s useless until you learn to use it. Still learning on the disc. And everything else really ...👊👍
That turned out simply fantastic. Beautiful job Jeremy.
I wasn’t actually a fan of the needle scaler until this knife. Now I’m sold. Perfect ratio of needle scale and shiny bevel. Beautiful knife. Any viewers knife videos coming up in your spare time 🤪. Appreciate all the videos!!!
Thank you! Yeah sometimes it can be overdone (like rock patterning too) but I think you touched on a key point people often overlook in this area: balance. 👍
just like the good old days
beautiful knife and no talking
i’m not mocking your interest of sharing what u know but i really enjoy your videos when you’re not talking
your work speaks for itself
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback 👍
Yesss another knife making vid. I got some knife stuff for Christmas so ima have to try this knife out.
Right on! 👍
This was done very clean. Recording, editing and working on the knife itself. My respect sir!
I'm totally using that painters tape patch for mixing Epoxy. Brilliant!
I really enjoy watching and learning from your videos. Awesome work. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers from México
Thank you very much! Cheers 👍

Jeremy- I've missed ya bro! Some how my notification got turned off I have so many sub's... darn gorgeous piece of work my friend.
Love the needle gun work!
I like the texture from the needle scaler! Looks really cool and also looks like it would give some grip when you choke up on the knife. Great job!
Thank you! 👍
It makes me think of painting ships.
Beautiful material, beautiful experience, beautiful product!
Thank you!
I could watch you freehand bevels all day. You make it look so seamless.
🙏❤️
Wow. Amazing video. Great techniques. Awesome end results!
Thank you!
This was like watching a movie montage where the good guy has to make an end game weapon of doom...
All the equipment you have and techniques you use look next level.
Extraordinary, beautiful work!
Amazing work! I would love to have one of this
Saw it on Instagram was waiting for the video! Superb as always!
Thank you so much!
Maaaan that’s an amazing knife. Great video really enjoyed . Please keep making knifes
Thank you very much!
Beautiful work, from Argentina...applause for you!!!!
The best kitchen knife build I've ever seen
Thank you very much!
Hopefully you’ve watched actual knife builds in these 5 years. Anyone with the money to buy the equipment can grind a knife shape out of a flat piece of steel and harden it.
U can definitely tell u been building knives for awhile very nice
Thank you! 🙏
I’ve been making knives as a hobby for several years now. And have seen a hundred or more videos on knife making. This is one of the few times that I’ve been completely and delightfully impressed with the end results. Hats off to you sir. You are the master blade smith. Now I’m gonna go give my knife making stuff away because there’s no competing you, lol. Seriously, truly master level craftsmanship.
Hahahaha, thank you! I appreciate your compliments.🙏. I do not believe there is such a thing as master blade-smith. If anyone is any good at it, they’re always trying to learn something else. 👍
Great job! The knife is clearly the star of the video. Keep them coming, and we will keep watching.
Jeremy, your level of craftsmanship and attention to detail continues to blow me away
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that. 🙏👍
Absolutely Beautiful work buddy. Carry on young man.
👍👏
👍👏
This is so impressive ,well done doesn’t cover it.
It’s so soothing to watch a skilled craftsmen do this .
Brilliant
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!👍
@@Simplelittlelife No worries ,thanks for your upload
I like this hammering tool :) so simple and so productive
I love your masterpiece.. great!! Wanna have and use that.
Thank you!
This has to be the best knife making I’ve seen, by far. Keep up the good work sir.
Thank you!
Dude, this is the one!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! And you’re welcome 👍
Gorgeous work of art. True craftsman, Thank you.
This is amazing, you’re really good at at what you do with a magnificent looking finished product.
Thank you so much! 👍
I have missed these videos tbh but it’s awesome 😎
Thank you so much!
For me, this is your best knife!
Congratulations you are a genius.
Love seeing it on Instagram than coming here to see how you made it :)
Lindo trabalho man!
You are the coolest manufacturer of knives in the world !!!
Доброго времени суток. Не подскажете, а зачем он опускал клинок в сухой лёд?
Really? Anyone can make a knife via stock removal. Forge it to shape, then grind. Then sharpen. That's impressive.
Виктор Кузнецов скорее всего это криообработка даёт дополнительную твердость стали. Чисто логически низкая температура сжимает частички материала и сталь становится более плотной. Я так думаю
@@RickWeberSR go ahead then, we will be waiting for a video

Prove it then....
I LOVE THAT KNIFE, AWESOME JOB!!!
I loved it. This is one of the best videos I've seen from you in a while. I enjoyed the simplicity!

Fabio Moretti🇮🇹
Thank you so much! 🙏
beautiful knife! Nice tools. I've never seen the final sharpening done in a vice like that.
Gorgeous knife ,flawless design... Great job
Thank you very much!
Your attention to detail, even on a simple knife like this one, is awe inspiring. I enjoy watching you work.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
What a beautiful and sharped nife.
Thank you!
That’s a good looking knife
Thank you.
the variety of techniques this man has is really impressive
Thank you. I really appreciate that.
Stunning!
I am going to steal your needle gun texturing for a couple of reclaimed wood and angle iron tables.
It’s not stealing if it’s shared 😆 I hope it works as good for you as it has for me!seriously simple and effective 😆
chris osh - Here's a more in depth vid on this texturing technique with a few other ideas for it if you're interested.
where can i get one of those???? i love em
Is thay whta it was... I thought it was just a natural texture on the metal
@@jorg1357 Harbor Freight. Their Taiwan air tools work well above their price of admission.
I'm late but great knife and video
Thank you!
Absolutely love that knife 😍
Wow, just wow. Amazing work, I especially love your sharpener.
Thank you!
This knife is the most BEAUTIFUL chef knife I've ever seen. Can I borrow it from you? Just would like to hold it instead of my pillow when I sleep since I love it so much!
Probably not a good idea you might have some scars and bleeding in the morning XD
That will be one hard pillow. xD
@@monychanphileam1104 Still worth it tho. LOL
@@Ksenseless 🤕
Beautiful knife, though the spine looks a little thick for my liking. Im partial to 2mm thick Japanese made kitchen knives, but thats a wholly different crafting process.
It does look very robust and could stand to be used as a cleaver if one had to. All in all great job :)
Thank you so much. Yeah, it certainly is on the thick side. I appreciate the feedback and the kind words. Cheers 👍
I saw your first video on the needle scaler finish, it really looks like you have perfected it. Looks great on this one!
Thank you!
Absolutely Beautiful
Just wondering about the blurred out section on the kiln starting @ 8:33... is this because of UA-cam?
yeah i was wondering that to
I think the logo of the company that made that thing and they or he don’t want to show it for probably monetization reasons.
TimoDank Blade - it’s gotta be a UA-cam thing... that logo is an evenheat logo on their heattreating oven designed specifically for knife making... I doubt they would turn their nose up at free advertising...
What is generally the best corosion treatment for high carbon knifes. (For kitchen use) As i have found the acid from vegetables don't fancy high carbon.
Continual use 👍
Wipe it down after use and hang them. And enjoy the beautiful patina. Done that for years no issue. If you ever have a bit of rusty brown spot because you forgot about it use some steel wool to clean it off
@@RetoAebischer thanks i will put the knowledge to use
Vel Thraytor - It also wouldn't hurt to pick up a bottle of camellia oil from Amazon for around $17, which will last a long time as it only takes one squirt from the bottle to coat the edge and blade. It's what they use over in Japan as it's food grade and doesn't become rancid like vegetable oils etc.
@@lsubslimed there is this product that im trialing at the moment thats showing promise. Its called Lanolin Steel Seal, its food grade and a high grade penatrant. For marine use. So far its done very well.
Que obra de arte, impressionante !
Lost for words, stunning.
Great video, I really enjoyed watching. Thank you for uploading.

Thank you so much! You're welcome. Cheers 👍
"just put some windex on it!" :D
What do you mean, you don't eat no meat?
That's cool. Nothing better than a nice sharp kitchen knife
Thank you!
Great knife, and the handle is STUNNING! 👍
Can you make for me one fish filleting knife 🔪 please?
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I'm wondering how much costs one of these knives.
350$ I think of better ways to spend that much money.
@@saltyme7711 unless you are a chef cuisine and need a good one
@@strikebr then you buy a japanese one for the same price
@@thomas.thomas or you sell the handmade made for a whole lot more
@@saltyme7711 For a knife of that quality, I think it's a fair price.
That is incredible and beautiful work. I appreciate the art that you make.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that 🙏👍
Wow... This knife is a piece of art. Phenomenal work and great video! 🤘
Amazing knife, about how much would you sell this for, I'm not interested in buying it, it I'm trying to figure out how to price my knives.
Thank you. However just knowing how I price my knives won’t let you know where to price yours. There is so much more to it than that.

hahahahahhaha lol
Thats fucking epic xD
Really love your design!! Great job!!!
Wow. You really know what you are doing. I am deeply impressed. Love that video...
Thank you 👍
Hey there, knive has definitely the looks, but I am asking my self about the hardness of the steel. I am still wondering you preferred the Ice heat treatment instead of the Oil based treatment, is it because it would break and because the shock and the risk is too big?
Would like to understand your procedure and what is the difference between those two.
Anyways it is a nice knive. Good job :)
He did a plate quench when pulling it out of the oven and clamping it to pull the heat out. The cryogenic hardening can improve the mechanical properties of steels with more exotic alloying elements like vanadium. The dry ice methanol bath will get down to about -70C which is sufficient but liquid nitrogen would be even better..

What is the name of the tool you use at this minute?
jon dett it’s a needle gun
It was used for the hammered finish look. Typically it’s used to clean welds.
I need that knife in my life! Fantastic work.
Such a beautiful knife.. If love to have such a fine piece of cutlery in my kitchen..
