    What is the blank steel? What is the temperature of the hardening and tempering process, that is, the 1st and 2nd processes?
    and what hardness did you get after your hardening?
    I ordered a sandwich blank, with a core aogami super blue, but not tempered.
    Best regards.

    • @DiesInEveryFilm

    Man I was so sad to see u sand half that block off, too bad u dont have a bandsaw to resaw ur pieces to get two book matched sets... also making sure u take advantage of the book match will make both sides of the wood look identical which is a nice attention to detail people will appriciate.... I get it's not noticable unless u really look but when u match them right the sides of the blade will match as well which is a cool when u do it right..

    • @osirisbladeworks6219

      Love ur work btw been watching u waaaay back when u had thumbs up the camera at every cut scene lol

    • @DiesInEveryFilm
      @DiesInEveryFilm  4 роки тому

      You do realise I sanded the outside of the block, these were bookmatched all i did was flatten the inside of them as to make the pattern flow you take away the 3mm that the blade fills up on the inside.

    • @osirisbladeworks6219
      @osirisbladeworks6219 4 роки тому

      @@DiesInEveryFilm first I'll say I meant no disrespect... I know personally I like hearing peoples thoughts and constructive criticism because I get new perspective, if that's not ur thing I understand... of course u may not be offended and I'm reading the "you do realize" part of ur reply too much texting is funny like that....
      It's hard to know exactly where the mistake was made because I'm not watching ur entire process... I just know in the end the scales didnt match, there are lots of reasons that could have happened... could be the template wasnt plotted exactly right on the block, you used the wrong sides of the block for the outside, could have sanded off the book matched side when u thinned it down I dunno... would u agree in the end the scales werent identical?
      Again I mean no disrespect nor do I think I'm a better maker than you in anyway! In fact you have me beat in alot of areas and I could learn a ton from ya... the book match thing just happens to be one of my strong suits that's all...
      Let me know and I can give u some tips to dial it in perfect if u want, if not it's cool too brother either way it's all love....

    I love the knife and the video, thank you for putting these great build videos out there.
    I'm always terrified of grinding too much after temper. How do you prevent ruining the temper since you seem to do all the bevel work post heat treat? Just take it real slowly?

    • @DiesInEveryFilm
      @DiesInEveryFilm  4 роки тому

      It all depends on what knife im
      Making some i do before HT some after but I would worry about ruining temper you just keep cooling it after a few passes on the grinder.
      Its so much easier to control the grinds when the steel is hard as you dont get the belts biting into soft metal.

    What is the adhesive you use to put your scales together? Is that heavy duty super glue?

    • @DiesInEveryFilm
      @DiesInEveryFilm  4 роки тому

      I superglue the liners to the scales but then i use epoxy for attatching them to the blade.
