    Cheap "bone dry" play sand from any store works great. You can't have any moisture in it or it will not feed. Make sure you position the sand blasting attachment tip on the wand so the hose faces up, and not down. Water will want to run down into the sand suction hose and will clog the flow of sand. I black tape the suction hose for the nozzle to the wand so its always facing up when in use.

    I made the exact system. But I found adding a power pot and a ball valve you can control the water media better. You can use that wet or dry

    I bought a cheap $25 one from Amazon. It’s the same thing just not nearly as quality. Plastic vs metal. I blasted an entire boat with it and it worked amazingly. If I ever need this again and the one I have breaks, I’ll buy a quality one like this with a replaceable nozzle.

    Can't wait till my black powder coat arrives, satisfied with the paint, they should have an easier way to track the package on the site! You should be able to type in the search "my east wood orders" You don't need variations between companies with tracking, thats why I like that at least amizon has that option!

    That’s basically a water symphony filter you can get at any hardware store. But yeah the wet blaster is so much better than dry

      Just use phosphoric acid with distilled water diluted %40-60 depending on your strength needs
      To soak bolts or parts for days do a %20 phos / %80 distilled water
      Add some hand sanitizer gel to make it adhere to the part and apply with a chip brush from harbor freight

    Why use Ground Glass instead of sand? I used sand for 30 years until I found out it was a hazard from free floating silicates but with Wet blasting there is no dust.

    So I don't have a tire changer, but I need to blast the wheels of rust it currently has on it. Can I blast the wheels with the tires on? Simply, would it harm the tires if I were to hit the tires in the process?
    Can't take the tires off and then blast the wheels because that would mean I would have to leave the car at a garage while I blast the wheels. Trying to do the work myself as cost effectively as possible. Thanks.

    Hey Matt
    Missed the live show by just minutes!
    Now, if you all want to "educate and inspire" us DIY guys, try using more (IE: adequate) protection equipment. Try using a full face and ear guard, or at the least a full face shield. When I use my (just) pressure washer I put on a full Frog Toggs rainsuit and my full face shield. Maybe Eastwood should look into carrying full face gear?
    Honestly Matt, it wasn't much fun having that stuff all come back at you, was it?

    This is the worse product I've ever bought from Eastwood! Sorry but I had very poor results from my unit. The hose seems to collapse and not allow media to flow threw it. I called Eastwood and they happily refunded my money which was nice.

    • @Just1Spark
      @Just1Spark 7 років тому +6

      Its the worst hose type for this application. You can see it kink over edge of bucket in the video. When are companies gonna learn. Build it right, equals less refunds.

      I have this also and like you guys I was less than impressed, I replaced the suctioning hose with a hose made for farm seeding and spray equipment. I think I bought it at Rural King but any farm supply store will have it. It is working fine now, unfortunately companies like Eastwood have to buy Chineses to stay competitive and inferior products are just the norm from there, you have to adapt to overcome.

    So you need a $1400 pressure washer (@ 400psi 3.5gpm) to work this $100 product????

    • @joshmartin8856
      @joshmartin8856 3 роки тому

      I would really like to see a compressor / pressure washer combination system. Most guys have a sub decent gas washer (2.5gpm) to push the water, and a decent 80gal/110psi air supply to push the media. Anything bigger, well you would have a pro shop, and a pro blaster.
      I'm thinking of a cyclone delivery nozzle that combines pressurized media and water in the tip. That would strip your filler. It would just have to be better than sand blasting while someone holds a hose on the work. :)

      There has to be sufficient abrasive media in the stream to clean.
      The larger and complex apart to be cleaned is, the more blast media will be required.
      We have a similar unit that we reclaim and reuse the media continuously.
      There is some loss, but we generally recover greater than 85 percent.
      I caution anyone and everyone that uses one of these or similar units to use adequate and proper PPE, especially head and face protection, we experience a lot of return/reflected spray loaded with blast media that ends up on/in the operators face/eyes/nose/mouth/ears/hair, clothes/pockets and in every nook and cranny possible.
      I recommend a Tyvek full coverage chem (bunny) jump suit, rubber boots, gloves and a full coverage media blast hood.

      One of the things that makes this product cost effective, is for those who already have a pressure washer, if you don't, then why not buy a dedicated machine for blasting or pay somemeone to do your blasting.
