  • In June 1988, two undefeated boxers fought - Mike Tyson, the undisputed world heavyweight champion and best boxer regardless of weight class, and Michael Spinks, the light heavyweight, and heavyweight world champion. Since the first fight between Mohammed Ali and Joe Frazier, for the first time, these two undefeated world champions, former and current, faced each other in the ring. This fight was called the once and for all. It was the most important event in boxing at the time, with the World Heavyweight Absolute Champion title, the vacant title of The Ring, the title of Line Champion, the WBC name belt, and the title of the strongest boxer in the heavyweight division on the line. Essentially, two undefeated boxers were challenging for the title of the best boxer on the planet. One of them had to lose for the first time in their careers. The fight took place, but no one expected to see this.

The last fight with Rooney in the corner he was never same again

Unfortunately, a series of bad decisions brought the career of such a prominent boxer as Tyson into decline. Perhaps breaking up with Rooney was his biggest mistake.

This was like a person vs the Terminator. I took one look at Spinks, soft, flabby and out of shape, and it was clear he did not stand a chance.

I agree. Spinks being in the ring, before the fight started, already looked like a loser.

I'm pretty sure Tyson Spinks was never a 15 round fight

And Don King took it all. Like taking candy from a very dumb baby.

Somebody actually believed Spinks could hurt Mike Tyson??? I was only a kid and I always thought Spinks fought like a sissy.😅😅😅

Spinks had great stats without a single loss, in his last fights he defeated the formidable Larry Holmes, so there were people who believed that Spinks could do something. But Tyson was in such peak form then, that any boxing enthusiast knew that Spinks must only hope for a miracle.

The guy in the beginning predicting Spinks would hurt Tyson , and beat him in about the 10th round was absolutely hilarious !!! This dude clearly knows nothing about boxing .

@@user-zh9st7dl4h With all due respect to Spinks, THAT Tyson could not be stopped by anyone.

Well to be fair Tillis, Smith, and Tucker showed that there was a way to avoid getting annihilated in Round 1
Hold a ton, show good movement, and create angles
Spinks should have gotten hugging lessons from Bonecrusher because honestly that was his best chance
