  • Sedona.. What a magical place with more breathtaking hikes than you could ever dream of!
To get to the Devil's Bridge Trailhead, there are 3 options...
    1) Hike the Dry Creek Vista Trail making the hike around 7.4km round trip. This trail is essentially walking down a rough dirt road.
    2) Hike the Mescal Trail to the Chuck Wagon Trail making the hike roughly 6.8km round trip. This is the recommended route if you do not anticipate taking the 3rd option as it is a well established trail.
    3) Drive up Dry Creek Road. This option requires a high clearance 4X4 vehicle to crawl over the many large rocks, ruts and rough terrain. This leaves you at the Devil's Bridge Trailhead with a 3.2km hike up to the main attraction.
***There are a few ATV rental companies in Sedona that I highly recommend as many of the trails are within 15 minutes or so from town. Many trails can be reached easier with a 4X4 vehicle and it looks like a great time!
I chose option 3 as I had a few hikes planned for the day. It took around 1 hour of total hiking time to reach the main attraction and it took another 15 minutes to get a few pictures, before sitting down and taking in the views and enjoying some lunch. I would recommend allowing about 2 hours to enjoy this hike.
I hope that you can take some notes from my hike that may help you on your future hike or just simply enjoy my experience and the amazing views along the hike at the Devils Bridge.
    Happy Hiking !

Guessing really big boulders at entrance to road to the bridge trailhead aren't there any more? Think I could get over with my 4Runner not being lifted? Did you airdown for the ride? Not many years ago you rarely encountered other people on the road or trail.....THAT was paradise. Thx for the vid.

No big boulders at the entrance, but there were large exposed rocks which simulated a very big speed bump. If you can make it over them it would be safe to head in.
The Tacoma I was in would be the lowest clearance I would use. It was very close in a few of the rock climbs, but was a fun way in!
Certainly a fair amount of people out to enjoy the trail, but no real pile ups which was nice 👍🏼

Love this. Going to be there soon. How do you do the picture?! Hand your camera off to someone? Long wait line?

You will love it, it is such a nice little hike.
There are a few options.. the most common would be ask for someone to take yours and take theirs in return. You could also use a tripod and use your watch or remote to take the photo for you, or you could have someone in your group take the photo who doesn’t mind being in the pictures.
I have on occasion set my camera up on my tripod and taken a picture of someone and then had them take a photo of me after and edit it so that we are both in it.
I hope this helps and I hope you have a lovely time in Sedona!

We are renting a 4Runner. Do you think that is good enough to get us up Dry Creek Road to the trailhead?

    • @HikingThru
      @HikingThru  Рік тому

Depends on the clearance really. Even with the Tacoma we were barely clearing a couple sections. Short wheelbased vehicles would be ideal and the higher the clearance the better.
The very first hump you have to climb over is a good justification if the vehicle will make it. If it doesn’t, you’ll have to park along the road or if you’re lucky there will be room in the parking lot at the start of the trail.
      I hope this helps!

There are certainly a fair bit of people who enjoy this hike, but if you have the option to go during the week it would be as bad. Also being the short hike that it is, it is a beautiful wild structure that I really enjoyed 😊

@@HikingThru ive done this hike before. Just would rather find hikes without the crowds. Sedona you will have crowds everywhere.

@@gabrielmaya4376 I agree completely. When I go on a hike it is usually to get away from people! 😂
It was a great to see the beautiful area, but I’m happy to be back home and hiking the secluded forests along the ocean!
Just got back from a 2 day coastal hike yesterday and had only seen 3 other people who were actually in the same group. The seclusion is lovely
