"This version look like F1 LM but it's a GTR paint in orange papaya same color of the LM"....perhaps this should have been titled, "F1 GTR...Papaya Orange". Papaya orange is thee most classic colors for McLaren cars, I remember them distinctly from the CanAm cars which I actually had a chance to see race when the series existed. "burnt orange" seems to be very popular as it is more "flashy".
Simply the greatest car ever made...absolutely timeless design coupled with one of the greatest motors ever made. That thing is stupid strong, listen to how it pulls WOT and it does it in all 6 gears..must be absolutely fucking mind boggling to drive. Thanks for the vid, enjoyed it thoroughly.
If McLaren decides to make a modern F1 sometime in 2014 (20'th anniversary of the original), I have a hunch it will be something extra. But like any business they first need to make a profit on their new entry model the MP4/12C, which is their competitor to Ferrari's 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4. Seriously cool they used the music from "Predator" in the final part of this video.
This is a GTR race car converted to road use so I doubt the windows roll down. But hopefully you are driving a $3 million car to a nicer place than a fast food joint.
OMG, dude, he payed Mclaren to make it look like an LM, its for sale at the moment advertised as a GTR, My dad has a Lamborghini Diablo and he goes to all the supercar meets, he knows the owner pretty well and he told us all about it.
@Whoppershine have the interior of a GTR and the exterior of a LM (the colour, the split rear windscreen, even the mclaren logo located in the same place)
when he said the f1 is the most exciting road car ever built it made me realize that most people who drive the new mclaren say its one of the lest exciting new super cars.
They made 5 LM's. Go on wikipedia and put in Mclaren F1. The car above is actually an F1 GTR converted back to road use and sold. Not an LM, which were all a particular orange colour, the same colour that Bruce Mclaren raced under.
sequential boxes doesn't mean needless to declutch real racers don't declutch because they have to maximize acceleration time and they knew the box is meant to be wrecked every race or within a period the box is deemed to be usable(or more the case, rules stated by the race governor)
@poncekid56 No it is slower in top speed. The normal road version could do 240mph the LM version could do 225mph because of more aerodynamic drag from the rear wing and so on, even with more hp, but that increased the cornering speeds and that is more important on a race track.
he states its a gtr converted by to the road version. its an actual le mans race car stripped. i consider it the holy grail of the super car. there are only what, 3 of these i think...
Ever heard of a short shifter? A stick shift doesn't have to move like swingset all the time to go between gears. One of the most common reviews of the McLaren F1's transmission was how narrow the width of the gate was compared to its length. It was enough to be an H pattern. You are wrong. You can also see other parts of the video where the position of the stick shift clearly changes between gears.
Additionally, the one featured in this video was chassis #16R, released in 1996. One of the features in the 96 version: "The car's normally stock gearbox was modified to include a lighter aluminium housing and more robust mechanicals." More robust meaning: the change from helical cut gears to straight cut gears, in order to allow the transmission to take more load before failure. Thus, it is a 6 speed manual and your rant about tiff, a professional driver, being somehow stupid, is unfounded.
I don't know if the F1, the LM and the GTR has the exact same engine, but this i know, the V12 is the same BMW had in theire 850's, the only thing that is changed is the engine control (more gas etc) to give it 600+hp instead of 400-500 (?) hp ^^ and its N/A !!!
Unfortunately, you are incorrect. It is manual. At 1:00 you can clearly see him moving the shifter side to side ensuring it's in neutral. Additionally, the McLaren F1 LM was released in a manual transmission, not a sequential gearbox. Furthermore, you cannot simply look at a stick-shift to determine whether it is a manual or a sequential or not. It purely is based on how it moves. The gates on most shifters are out of view. You can verify this by looking at the standard McLaren F1.
Additionally, at 3:02, if you look closely, you can see the top of the gear lever change positions as he changes gear. I will venture to guess that he was changing from second to forth. at 3:28 it looks as if he's changing from second to third. In both cases, the gear lever makes a clear change in position, unlike a sequential gearbox. Additionally, you still didn't explain why the lever moved sideways in the first place. I wouldn't attribute it to "play" if I were you. This is a McLaren F1.
I would be willing to bet Gordon Murray could redesign this same car with today's tech and make it for 1/10th the price and still make a profit on it! He could probably make it better too, and more usable. This car is still the king! I think the LM would take out everything out there today STILL. The F1 did a 11.6 quarter, the LM ran a 10 flat and could have went faster. Someone who knows Gordon, please tell him to remake this car the same as it is now but updated aero, engine, styling n brakes
@jack390 I´m sorry .. you´re wrong. The papaya orange thing is true, but in this case wrong. Parmer´s GTR is re-painted by McLaren factory. Believe me, it´s a GTR. :) Ask Parmer himself, he´s on facebook.
I'm 99% sure this is the LM version.. The GTR version has different bodywork.. This F1 clearly has the GT wing and front spoiler that only the F1 LM does.. Damn i love this car.
@sajonsajon2 The new McLaren roadcar is called MP4/12C, it's the entry model. The successor to the F1 will come later... Also the McLaren Formula 1 racecars cannot be driven on public roads, but on a racetrack they'd easily win over the F1 roadcar. If you want to see how was a McLaren Formula 1 car is watch the video in which they have a race with one starting 50 seconds later on Silverstone against seriously fast Mercedes roadcars and DTM tourincars from Mercedes.
Normally only the LM is of color "orange papaya" as well as the seat and Look the wings fronts widened at the level of the are passage of wheel exactly have the LM of it very strange maybe hybrid version between the GTR and LM I m confused The air inlet on the roof also corresponds to the version LM very strange...it's really strange lol
Can you imagine in your wildest dreams what is possible from McLaren with todays technology????? Forget Veyron,,,forget everything,,,!!! Just imagine a 1200HP McLaren, very light, just like the original.... It blows my mind to think about.

it leaves me speechless. after 9 or 10 years it still gives me shiver and is still my favorite racing car.
It still is one of my favourite
@@stayclashy3433 It still is one of my favourite
One of the top designed Super Car.. One of the nicest designs in the Super Cars.. really nice.
wow i cant stop watching...10+ years after it production and its still a car thats being compared to the new toys..this is what i call a master piece!
This cracks me up... Starting it sounded very much like the checklist for my airplane.. Master switch, ignition, start...
Most amazing car ever made!!! EVER!!! I just so love how gorgeous it looks and sounds. God damn!!
there are cars and then there is THIS. greatest car ever built in britain. british design/german power, what a great combo!
Love the F1!!
One of the best sounding and looking cars in my books! Has to be in the orange too :-P
Maybe the new P1 is faster, but i would take this over the P1 anytime :)
Such so much more beautiful :)
My childhood hero.
It is still the fastest naturally aspirated production car.... EVER.
A standard F1 will be faster in the top speed, but with the LM's shorter gearing it will accelerate faster then standard F1.
Fantastic presentation of such exquisite car
This is one of my favourite cars even all these years after it was made
Wow... Just look at how low it's to the ground. Sick!
I love the way you have to start up a race car. And this one.
Back to watch this for the 87,500th time lol. This is the only car that will make me forget about all others.
McLaren F1 LM,. beautiful car
WoW :) 387.50 Km/h top speed
This is Amazing and wonderfull
I can´t believe it

I love this car ... nothing could exceed ten years is the best car today
he was a race driver in his early dais and has also testet about a million supercars for fith gear TV. I absolutely trust this guy
This is a GTR race car converted to road use so I doubt the windows roll down. But hopefully you are driving a $3 million car to a nicer place than a fast food joint.
your lucky, i have seen 1 silver one. and that was at a dealership. absolutely stunning car, wish i could drive one lol.
That's a sick vehicle, everyone should be able to test drive one at least once in hteir life. Ha, nice predator music @ the end.
I want one of these badly.

Um lindo carro, um super carro. O melhor de todos os tempos.
This is the best supercar ever made. I like the Ford GT too, and the Honda NSX developed by Senna.
@mymomiscool111
uh, no. 106 were made: 69 F1 road cars, 6 LMs, 3 GTs, and 28 GTRs. Wikipedia is your friend.
'THE MOST EXCITING SUPERCAR EVER BUILT'..... EXACTLY.
You weren't kidding when you said you liked this car! =)
This is a GTR. You can tell by the bottom of the doors, they are curved. An LM has a continuous skirt on the side.
he states its a gtr converted by to the road version. its an actual le mans race car stripped. i consider it the holy grail of the super car. there are only what, 3 of these i think...
And no logo on the spoiler

Every car goes through these three stages ( battery, pumps, ignition). But it's all done while turning the key.
@eddohan When you turn the steering wheel you usually have a point where it will stop you from turning or a lock. This car doesn't have that.
The car ahead your Time....incredible
the legend lives on

this car was launched on my year of birth and won Le Mans 24hour race on it also such a great super car

@brnbizotto probably limited to 180 because of cose gears, but the normal road car can go 240 mph
@2003SCT indeed it has 50 more hp,but goes 333 kmh max adn our pal the normal f1 goes 394 or somethign
1:02 Best Startup sound eva... EPIC!!
That car would look cool in a dark blue or cherry red
@elfren When the Veyron wins LeMans on its debut maybe we'll consider it in the same category as the McLaren F1.

The ultimate version of the ultimate car.
This may be one of the most complicated car to learn
@dontsuck12 There's a ridiculous queue for any McLaren makes. I think their site has info on how to get on the list.
my two dream cars is any mclaren f1 n the reventon. i careless for the rest. i go for the look, not for the power of the "machine"

love start up sound
there were 3 f1 gtr's the
f1 gtr 1995 spec
f1 gtr 1996 spec
f1 gtr 1997 spec also referred to as the longtail
mmm would you mind reading the description? However!!!!!!!!!!!! LM or GTR this car is truly a masterpiece of engineering!!!!
I love the car but im still not shure which is faster the regualr F1 or the LM?

This comment has aged well 😂
There should also be a corvette c6 light weight car far sale. I think it would be more praticle and apealing to consumers.
@BKsMassive No Mclaren don't repair the car for free, one was wrecked in August 2010 and the repair bill was about 100,000 pounds.
the holy grail
i like how he drives over a section of road that says slow but hes reving like 5000 rpm
WANT IT WAN IT, i dont care if it take me 20-30 years and the car becomes very old, i still want the 98 mclaren f1!
F50 GT: 750bhp to F1 LM: 680bhp. Bit of a difference there don't you think?
@jack390 I´m sorry .. you´re wrong. The papaya orange thing is true, but in this case wrong. Parmer´s GTR is re-painted by McLaren factory. Believe me, it´s a GTR. :) Ask Parmer himself, he´s on facebook.
No Its the other way round,
Its a GTR
In LM orange (Papaia Orange)
The sequential gearbox is rediculous!
حقا سيارة مذهلة و عجيبة اخ من تونس
Never be able to afford one but you can build a gtm supercar for around 30 thousand and they are said to be faster than a ferarri off the line
@Devareaux The REGULAR has 3 seats, the GTR and The LM (this) has only 1
"this is whole car which is saying, LET'S GO, LET'S GO"
I'm 99% sure this is the LM version.. The GTR version has different bodywork.. This F1 clearly has the GT wing and front spoiler that only the F1 LM does..
Damn i love this car.
It is, the steering wheel has LM on its centre.
was the turn radius on this model so bad because it was made for the track or are all mcclarensbuilt like that?
@sajonsajon2
The new McLaren roadcar is called MP4/12C, it's the entry model. The successor to the F1 will come later...

no its the GTR converted into a road car painted oarnge... he even says it in the video, and it says it in the description of the video lol...
McLaren in 1993 was centures front from the other cars! One Name One History!
Which version is the black one at 5:38 ? It has a longer back..
Can you imagine in your wildest dreams what is possible from McLaren with todays technology????? Forget Veyron,,,forget everything,,,!!! Just imagine a 1200HP McLaren, very light, just like the original.... It blows my mind to think about.
Hammonds, why are you saying that this car has a sequential transmission?
THE BEST CAR IN THE PLANET
Im pretty sure the lm because gtr is a certain race class and the lm version is above gtr im almost 100% sure
It´s defineatly a GTR. LM has a different dashboard. Chris Parmer owns a GTR for street use.
yeah please :) That'd be awesome really!
it is actually a GTR converted for the road, NOT an LM
