Watching Freddie sing it was like he was pulling energy from above. Just mind blowing 🤯. The four of them were so talented they could become almost otherworldly. ❤
Well I’m dead now … have only watched this a thousand times but I never am bored with it 😂😊 Love this song and Budapest version. You’re right Freddie has a slight sad wistfulness in his eyes. A perfect song for Freddie … not only because of his voice but also because of his demeanor. Many great voices could have done this song but Freddie was unique… sweetness and a kind of childlike quality in his voice and expression that breaks your heart and that’s the quality this song needed. It wasn’t an act. It was Freddie.
Wasn't it an interview in Budapest where he said something like If I'm alive I will be back ..? I think by that time Freddie felt it would be a miracle for what was happening to his body to be turned back/overcome. Such thinking powered his creativity and determination to give all he could while he could. What a guy!
What a great reaction to this great performance, I think every band member put their all into this. I have watched it so many times a it still gives me goosebumps and I am 68 years and a fan of Queen since 1974..Thanks for the reaction mate
Brian May wrote this song for Highlander. Since you brought up opera you should listen to Freddie song opera. He was great at everything he did and the greatest frontman of any band ever. RIP Freddie we miss you.
It's awesome to see Freddie on the stage, his charisma and his shows were outstanding. A true professional talented artist who gave it all for his public, there were few artists like him which really connected with their public. I don't know if you reacted to " Love of my life" he wrote this song for his ex partner and after his best friend Mary Austin. Freddie Forever. Thanks Rory, Your Queen's reactions are so epic and the true spirit of this channel👍👏🏻👌
I love this concert, they were so determined that it was going to be beyond perfect mainly because it was the first rock concert behind the iron concert. I will request this when I rejoin as a patron next week now my money crisis has passed. He hadn't been diagnosed yet but he had by this stage knew he couldn't continue to tour after they finished the magic tour and roger stated on camera theat he was sure Freddie knew he wasn't well For your information there is a live audio version of Life is real a song for Lennon, it's great. If you can't find it let me know and I will search x
The Wembley concert i loved although they were at the end of an exaustive tour 26 dates i think, so Freddies voice was a little tired and strained but he still does a great performance of this song and I loved the banter with the audience. Youre right, he said to a Bulgarian Journalist when asked if he would come back again, he said "if im still alive, i will be back" a throw away remark to some, but he knew alright.
Budapest was from the same tour as the Wembley 1986 shows with essentially the same set list. However Freddie did not have a cold here so his voice was in better form for this show. This entire concert was really great performed before 80,000 fans in what was then a communist country behind the Iron Curtain.
Rory, thanks so much for covering this. This was Brian’s song used in the movie ‘Highlander’. It just hits too close to home regarding Freddie’s health. But you’re right, this song transcends everything and does ‘bring it (movie, Freddie’s situation) to life’. 9:07
The Budapest set is the same set bar 1 little interlude the Wembley set...... This hits diffrent as it was the first rock concert behind the Iron Curtain in Eastern Europe back then
Bri wrote this song for the movie soundtrack Hilander. And all the boys wrote songs for the soundtrack as well. I’ve heard it a thousand times and still get goosebumps 😢 Your incredible. Thank you❤ Oh yes please !do the whole Budapest concert. This was in 1986 Freddie found out his Prognosis 1987, but he knew something was wrong. Yes we did Milton Keynes. My favorite concert.
HEY RORY… My FAVORITE performance of this song is a little-seen Hidden Gem, from: FRIDAY, JULY 11, 1986 At Wembley Stadium This Budapest performance is letter-perfect and Freddie’s vibrato is BEAUTIFUL. The Friday Wembley performance is STRONG, RAW EMOTION; Freddie’s vocals will make your hair stand on end and then you’ll CRY. (Especially if you see the video that’s 5+ minutes long; it includes the “we’re never breaking up” speech!) (Most folks who watch a Wembley performance, see the one from Saturday, July 12… when Fred was tired, catching a cold, so a lot of voice cracks… I’ve even read that Fred was so displeased with the Saturday performance, it was one of the factors in Freddie’s decision to stop live touring.)
As others noted, this concert is part of the Magic tour and is basically the same set as Wembley, but really fun bit here is Freddie learning a Hungarian folksong to sing here -- has part of it written on his hand. Some footage of him learning it and practicing it with Brian. ua-cam.com/video/bVsiLGVnKqQ/v-deo.html. ua-cam.com/video/WAclgON4cGc/v-deo.html
NOTHING is typical about Queen as a band or within rock itself. And I think you are spot on about the level of TLC taken. Without Freddie, I don't think they would have "spread their wings" in quite the same way. But all band mates made a united front when performing.
He's definitely the best Queen had a sound that no other group had Freddy was the best this guy Adam he's got a pretty good voice now Queen is a regular group they're not different from anybody else not that they care they got their money there you know up in age it's not going to bother them but Adam made the group sound like every other group Freddy never did
You really really should check out funkadelic red hot mama live in Houston 1977 and maggot brain funkadelic in Houston live in 1978 I promise that you really won't be disappointed.
@@nickwall2497 He learned officially in April 87, but alrealdy at the time of the Magic Tour he had an inkling that something was wrong; he was more tired, he felt more irritable...those are Phoebe's (Peter Freestone) words.
I really love this version of Who Wants to Live Forever. Freddie sings it so passionately!
Oh my heart. Missing dear Freddie❤...........as though it were a Thousand years.
One of my favorites live. Freddie was truly from his own planet. There will never be another
So beautiful Freddie’s vocals are so beautiful ❤and I agree watching it live brings on a whole new meaning to the song
Watching Freddie sing it was like he was pulling energy from above. Just mind blowing 🤯. The four of them were so talented they could become almost otherworldly. ❤
Incredible delivery of a song that is perfectly performed in the true sense of the word - the consummate band of musicians ❤

I love this Brian May song. Freddie is so vocally emotive it is impossible not to cling on every word.
Definitely THE best live version of this song. Awesome!!
The main man, THE best frontman of any band, ever.
Just Beautiful

I think he said that in Barcelona in 1987, but I could be wrong, but I think it was it in Barcelona that he said that.
I think Budapest is the best live performance of this, IMO. Thank you for your reactions Rory!
My favourite is still the Wembley one, from 11-07-1986
Legends ❤
Freddie was really on fire. ❤
Rory I love your reaction vides's. I am an old lady but love your knowledge of music and your opinion of all types of music.
Freddie was in top form here. This was an outstanding performance, his voice was great.
What a great reaction to this great performance, I think every band member put their all into this. I have watched it so many times a it still gives me goosebumps and I am 68 years and a fan of Queen since 1974..Thanks for the reaction mate
hi Rory, the concert you have to do (or finish) is Montreal 1981 : Freddie is at his prime !
Brian May wrote this song for Highlander. Since you brought up opera you should listen to Freddie song opera. He was great at everything he did and the greatest frontman of any band ever. RIP Freddie we miss you.

They wrote the music for Highlander and in context of the film his first love was dying of old age and he was still young and so upset.

Budapest was a better concert than Wembley IMO, A kind of magic from Budapest was the best live version of that song too

Of course he knew at that point...
He didn't know until April 87, this is August 86

Have you done Montreal 1981?
Hey Rory, long time...how's things?
Sorry that should have said Hungarian, not Bulgarian.
Should be curtain not concert🤔
