Fun Fact: My videos are, on average 20 minutes long, I upload 4 videos a month, so about 1 hour and 20 minutes a month, that means this video is roughly 3 months worth of content squeezed into a single upload lmao
Completely Off topic But I recently learned you can become the leader of the Great Kahns and decide their fate in the battle of hover damn as The Papa Kahn. Do what you will with this information.
Now imagine this from The Ends perspective. You’re in the middle of battle with an enemy only for him to seemingly vanish. You wait for your opening for hours at a time. Willing to completely sit there until your foe gives you one opening. You wait for so long that your life eventually fades away. Only for your opponent to come back and he’s seen the future and killed you in a alternate timeline.

no he finds snake and snake got an entire tv and sofa setup and is playing himself in a game and the end gets so confused by the millenial generation he has a heart attack
1:26:00 If you wait ten minutes without a light source, Snake's eyes adjust to the darkness and you can see. Which is also how long it takes a normal person to adjust.
That‘s why when you‘re in the army and stay outside, you get out from the side of the tent that faces away from the fire as to not basically „reset“ your night vision

Fun fact: the reason why the soldiers all go nuts at 2:04:52 is because Ocelot turned off the emotion suppression in the Network. This made every soldier instantly aware of the totality of the horrors of war they had experienced, all at once. The killing, the post-traumatic stress, all of it came back in a single instant.
@@randomt800kiddo2bro, people to this day still think old snake is "old" because of fox die and not that he was genetically engineered to age rapidly after hitting a certain age, despite two games hinting at it and 4 deliberately telling you it. You really think those same people paid enough attention to the story to know op's fact?
This is an incredibly minor point, but it is actually somewhat explained why Sam's sword works on Armstrong when Raiden's doesn't. HF Blades, the games fancy type of sword that gain the ability to cut through basically anything through the use of alternating currents and vibrating at incredibly frequencies, are partially reliant on the quality of the underlying sword. Raiden's is basically a factory made thing designed from the start to just be HF blade fodder; Sam's is suggested to literally be an ancient family heirloom forged in the 16th century by one of the greatest bladesmiths of all time. It's kind of stupid but it's the exact right kind of stupid for a game like Revengeance.
And if the DLC is anything to go by, the sheath’s explosive draw is fast enough to outpace Armstrong’s Nanomachines and cut through before they can reach the area to reinforce it, especially when they are actively reinforcing other parts of his body to enhance his strength for punches and whatnot.
It could also be something supernatural like the sword being sharpened by the lives it took or something. Sam himself is already Big Boss-tier superhuman abomination (remember that, even if his exoskeleton did all the heavylifting for his physical prowess, he's the one who has to perceive and react to everything happening, he has nothing to boost his reaction speed).
Fun fact: If you pop a fake death pill during the fear fight, then when he turns around pop the revive pill, if you throw a stun, every bit of damage dealt will be turned into stamina damage, therefore, with the AK you can kill him in like 3 seconds
In the MGS3 cave section, if you wait for long enough Snakes eyes will adjust and the cave will get brighter as a result. So many tiny, insane details in this game. Great work man.
I absolutely love the contrast between Nerbit's narration voice and his exhausted "okay so its 3:00 in the morning" voice. He's a real human doing inhuman things, keep it goin Nerbit.
Fun Fact: You can actually get Quiet back if you repeat the mission where you first encounter her about 7 times I think, then it becomes a [Reunion] Mission beat her again take her back and it's as if her final mission never even happened.
Pretty sure you can get her back by maxing her relationship and using the butterfly as your logo or something. I don't remember the specifics but I got her back not long after launch. Not heard about this patch about repeating the encounter.
@@Atelierwanwan You can get her back by beating the mission you battle her in like 6 or 7 times I think it is then that mission becomes Mission 11: [Reunion] Cloaked in Silence, beat that and you get her back and you can even go through the mission where she leaves again and still keep her around.
You know, when you think of it from a meta standpoint, this video is really cool. It's like Snake falls asleep during the encounter with The End and has this long, vivid dream about events have already happened, and those that have yet to come. A very enjoyable watch as someone who is only somewhat familiar with the Metal Gear series, and congratulations on accomplishing such a feat!
I find that hilarious to think about because snake eater is the first and this video isn't even in chronological order so he'd be like "ok I'm watching a soldier and... HE KILLED ME wait... Wait I'm back but idk why... Oh ok now we're in polygons and... The government cloned me but only one of them sounds like me? Oh ok now there's a blonde femboy and... I'm the president? Oh no another clone... Ok now I'm following the first guy again but he's old and... I'M BACK? but then die because of super cancer or something?" Honestly those phantom cigars must be loaded with powerful stuff
Fun fact, in rising if you dont kill a single person, raiden still gets upset, you can play the whole game only killing the female boss, and knocking out every one with the wodden sword or just cutting their arms and legs, off, and raiden will feel guilt for people he hasnt killed
Is that because they're essentially still in pain due to being cyborgs? It's been awhile since I beat it so I don't remember that or I missed something in this 4 hour video lol
@Neo91837 i mean possibly but thats only for cutting off limbs and letting them live, i specifically used the wooden sword and mistral didnt get cut up, since the wooden sword can not slice things even in zangetsue mode. She kinda froze her self, and raiden still goes through his guilt phase and his jack the ripper speach, its just silly to me that they wouldnt account for a pacifist playthrough
It's an action game where they very well intend and wrote the story like you're just slaughtering things, rather than intending pacifist runs like the Metal Gear games typically do. The plot thus doesn't acknowledge a "technical" pacifist run.
@raikohzx4323 i mean i get that, but its slightly annoying, i still love the game, just kinda weird they didnt even think of it, or if they did, they didnt incorporate anything to account for it.
If you knew about Raiden as a character then you'd know that his speech and guilt still works with a pacifist run. He killed possibly hundreds as a child soldier and loved every second of it. And you can also consider the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots. Hell if you do a pacifist run in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance it almost makes the theme work EVEN BETTER because you're trying to deny "The Ripper's" existence and run from it, just like Raiden up until that point.
The timing discrepancy in the MSX games is because whenever you die and continue, the in-game timer is reset to whatever it was when you initially saved. The reason MG2 is off by so much is because you had 18 continues.
It’s stuff like this that make Nerbit my favorite challenge run creator. The ability to maintain the same quality of humor, production and interesting content in a video over 10x longer than normal is mind blowing. Happy 100th challenge you legend.
Hey thanks man, I'll admit it wasn't easy to keep it consistent throughout, found the best way to get that result was by editing the video in separate chunks for each game so it was like I was working on 10 videos that then got spliced together at the end :)
This is honestly one of the best videos the metal gear community could ever receive during this dry spell of content. Absolute respect for honoring the original MSX games, they deserve to be remastered to full glory
AGREED. REMASTER KONAMI. its probably the easiest thing for them to do without Kojima. Use the same fox engine from V, because it still looks fantastic, and just tell the same story. Maybe seek out the people who helped Kojima write those original games as well and they can expand the series. But instead we get an MGS3 remake, which I would have been super down for, but then they released screen shots and it looks like its just a graphics update, but EXACT same levels and stuff, which I don't understand. The original is far from unplayable or totally outdated, still looks good.
2:35:40 Fun fact, there is another way to get out of the cells without using the jigsaw. By successfully doing all the QTEs on the previous cutscene, you will snatch Strangelove's keycard which you can use to escape the cells
To be fair about the "twist" in MGSV, there are a handful of hints to it throughout the game. The real reason this Boss can't speak multiple languages isn't because of some head horn magic, but because he never could in the first place. Ocelot also slightly stumbles through his speech when talking to new Boss in the prologue. Then there's the point where you learn Eli doesn't share Venom Snake's DNA. Maybe the most important clue is that the real Big Boss would never use a fake (phantom) cigar. Also, people had it pretty much figured out before TPP even released, noticing that the medic sounded an awful lot like Kiefer Sutherland. Then when the game came out, they also noticed that Ishmael sounds an awful lot like Keifer Sutherland. They figure out that two plus two equals five, and that pretty much hit the nail on the head at that point.
Also Big Boss's (original) AI says, "it's not you... is it?" seemingly a question of "is that you" on a first time playthrough and more of a statement in the second playthrough.
Over 4 hours of Metal Gear content, and a massive pile of 10 games. holy hell man you have to have some serious dedication to your craft and it’s absolutely incredible to see, I applaud you Nerbit, and also feel really bad for you cause god this is a lot of games to play and complete.
2:45:35 the unamed nation in MGR that N'mani was the Prime minister of was actually a country for some time. After examining the pin the N'mani is wearing, and the flags on the car, I could determine the nation. The country was called the Republic of Biafra which tried to leave Nigeria. This sparked the Nigerian civil war which lasted from 1967 to 1970 where Biafra lost and had to rejoin Nigeria. I doubt anyone is gonna read this but who knows, I guess you learn something everyday.
This man is *insane* doing this. Three months worth of content here, in one video. And I watched it all, in one sitting. I paid attention for 4 hours, and 15 minutes. Nerbit, the legend he is, made me pay attention THAT long. That's Crazy. Good work lad
I'd agree with you if this video was published 6 or 7 years ago, but nowadays a four hour long UA-cam video is average at best and pretty short at worst. That doesn't change the fact that quality of the video is great, it's just that the length is nothing special.
@@PhazonEnder I was saying how insane it was that I could sit still and watch the entire video in one sitting with the quality. I don't care that there's other people publishing longer videos, they never gripped my attention this way. Let alone about a game series I was never *really* interested in.
Fun fact about MGS3, the box is always the best option for sneaking around thru the areas where you'd normally disguise as a scientist or engineer. The scientists and engineers completely ignore the box moving around and there's barely any guards around in those areas so you can quickly box up behind them and cig spray them or throw them to the ground and hold them up.
Hypnotherapy is the reason Ocelot was still "Liquid" after replacing Liquid's arm with a prosthetic, MGS4 did not retcon Ocelot being possessed by Liquid's arm in MGS2 thanks to his father's psychic powers.
MGS4 did not retcon Ocelot, it stated he used hypnotherapy to pretend to be Liquid, which he did, but while the specific time he did it was never specified, the fact that he has a prosthetic arm in MGS4 all but confirms that he used hypnotherapy on himself after MGS2 specifically because Liquid's ghost almost ruined his plan to steal Arsenal Gear.
Fun fact the reason why monster hunter is talked about so often in peace walker is because there are actually secret missions where u legit go to monster hunter fight monsters including a metal gear rex looking monster with aid from the monster hunter cats
Also, not so fun fact, those secret missions in Peace Walker were the actual inspiration for the plot of Paul W. S. Anderson’s film adaptation of Monster Hunter. The moment I learned that, so much about that mess of a movie suddenly made sense.
Holy crap 4 hours of Nerbit, a second channel, a 100th challenge video, and the cherry on top it's the metal gear solid saga. Thanks so much for almost 3 years of videos man it's awesome having you make such enjoyable videos.
The Murasama blade also referred to as the "A VT7 High-Frequency Blade". According to Blade Wolf, the sword's high-frequency conversion carried over the already excellent properties of the original sword, making it extremely powerful.
Hey Nerbit, one thing I wanted to mention In the MGSV segment, you mentioned Volgin/Hothead not having any strength left and sort of just dieing, and I think that's only partially the reason. Volgin was bested by Naked Snake AKA Big Boss. In that particular moment though, he's face to face with Venom Snake, AKA Big Boss. Different person, not who Volgin was dead set on getting revenge on, which Volgin realises and subsequently loses his anger against Venom, which leads to him finally dieing.
@Nerbit also I want you to know the "emotional support triceratops on a skateboard" sent me into a laughing fit and my face hurts from smiling. Thank you
2:11:10 when I heard you say 71 minutes I assumed you were mistaken, I was like "nah, there's no way it's actually 71 mins, he's exaggerating." NOPE! Kojima just said "Fuck it, we're making a movie"
Late to the party, but the reason is that Kojima apparently always wanted to be a movie director but couldn't get into the proper education. So he did next best thing, making videogames that are essentially movies!
Aw yeah this is happening! Sensuously a four hour video, I’m gonna enjoy this. Big fan of the channel I love your challenge runs they always make me smile no matter what, here’s to 100 videos nerbit 😊
1:34:42 so fun fact, that scope glint in the original release was something you were only meant to see in first person mode, but the true third person camera in the re-releases can get it too when you angle right. Its a neat little accident that does kinda change the fight between the PS2 original and the later versions
Destroying the Hind early in MGS3 is "supposed" to remove it from the mountain patrol and be replaced with the flying platforms....weird. It's always worked for me. Wonder what triggered that.
I do agree that Phantom Pain could use a lot more meat on the bone for the story, but I really like the twist, the whole point of big boss being a construct and not a specific guy, and the inclusion of you as a player in the creation of his myth is really strong. If only they got to finish it properly
I think if they had to figure out a way for it to make sense for Big Boss to sound like Keefer Sutherland, that was a good way to go about it. But I was hoping for a bit more finality to his side of the story though. I think the story is by far the weakest element of MGS V and it's the one thing that has kept me from going back to it. The gameplay is brilliant, the graphics are stunning (I originally played it on PS3 and the whole time I just kept wondering how the hell this was happening on 2006 hardware.), but the story, man. I had such high hopes and it just fell so flat.
@@IroquoisPliskin86 Definitely agree with that. I wish all the story was as strong as the quarantine block. But that very end felt very final to me in the sense of the theme of the series. Metal Gear was always about identity, its origin and the struggle of reconciling it with our history. Is Snake and Liquid just Big Boss, because they have the same DNA? Can Raiden become Snake just by going through the same things he did? Is there such a thing as individual choice or are we just programmed by the environment? The final scene gave an answer that by also including the player in the creation of the myth of Big Boss and I felt that it was an adequate one.
Now we can just imagine the entire series being Naked Snake's weeklong dream where the entire franchise is just him imagining the future while he naps during the End fight.
I don't know what's more impressive: The amount of work you put into both this insane challenge and amazing video, or the fact that this challenge is even possible in the first place
2:29:22 Actually if the Boss Health Bar is anything to go by it is, it's just not a Hind D this time... Although the one in Snake Eater was also a 24A so that's two Hinds that aren't Hind D's so far.
You have no idea how sad I was to see the run time was almost over. You have such good delivery and you’ve kept me pretty glued to this the whole way through! That’s a sub for sure
I just sat in my room and watched over 4 hrs of a game series that I have never once played. And I just got to give you credit Nerbit. You know how to keep the audience engaged and the content entertaining. Enjoyed every minute.
When it comes to the two Snake Eater kills, one was Volgin in the final fight with Shago, as it turns out missiles don't drain stamina damage. As for the second, if a soldier was tranqued during the Shagohod rail section, and they run INTO the Shagohod, it kills them, and because it was your fault they did that, it subsequently counts as a kill. Its happened to me before, and I still call shenanigans.
1:11:50 Don't forget the more Metal Gear part of this cutscene: Someone explaining exactly how someone's powers work in excruciating detail, and then that explanation potentially being *wrong* and/or *a lie.*
what i love about this video is that its not only actually entertaining throughout the entire length (and a lot of other longer vids have trouble with that) but its also not only a pretty hardcore challenge but also super informative for someone whos only ever played 3 games and watched 1 full playthrough out of the entire franchise - so many holes getting filled while watchin this! cause you dont just skim over stuff but actually give proper explanations as to who is who and so on - earned yourself a new sub thats for sure!
Good god, first of all, my congratulations for going through what are easily over 40 hours worth of cutscenes and being entertaining all throughout, second of all, this confirmed to me that ever since the first ever game, Koijma has been in a pretty much constant state of insanity
3:39:05 you actually _can_ call the chopper to at least 2 different locations, but doing so will cause sahelanthropus to follow it to wherever you send it, assuming it is currently patrolling and not aware of your location. This actually can be used to distract it long enough, since it isnt quite as fast as the chopper, so waiting near one landing zone, while the chopper sits somewhere else, then calling it to you is a viable way of getting out. Thats so far the only way i ever managed to do that mission
The lack of specification over what actions you can and can't take was actually a pretty common trend for the first Metal Gear. From what I understand, it was to both inflate play time and encourage looking out for and purchasing of external material in order to progress during a time when you couldn't just look it up.
That was pretty common back in the day when most games were short and had little replay value. Pad them out and give no direction to make each game last longer and get people to buy strategy guides
Your use of stun grenades reminds me of the only time in MGS5 that I managed an S rank on a mission. I can't remember what the particulars of the mission were, only that there were a ton of elite soldiers I could capture, as well as a few VIPs I needed to capture. After a rather horrible time getting past a village, they all were converging in their vehicles to the meeting point and I realized they would all (in two separate jeeps) be within range of a single sleep grenade (I think, it might have been two; this was several years ago). Well, it worked perfectly and I captured every single one of them. Only time I ever used a sleep grenade in the game, but it was one of the most satisfying moments I've had playing a videogame.
1:43:16 So 2 corrections actually: 1. You *can* take it into New Game+ 2. It doesnt make you quieter. It instead halves damage *and* stamina loss, the sorrow's camo is actually the one to muffle your footsteps
the fact theres multiple games released completely out of order as well as events from one game explaining another, its kind of thoroughly planned out but is super confusing in execution, if someone actually played through the games concurrently itd still probably be confusing just because youd be playing the oldest game immediately after the newest game
i feel i must add context to this for anyone confused, MGSV the phantom pain takes place in 1984, the original metal gear takes place in 1995. on another note, MGS3 snake eater is the earliest set game in 1964, followed by MGS4 being set in 2014, which is as far as we see all the biological snakes go, atleast 2 of them because ocelot was BSing everyone about liquid controlling him through his arm. also it might be alittle weird to see that in 5 years between 2 and 4 solid snake becomes an old man.
@@Lickicker see i never knew the actual time line i always enjoyed them because MGS was one of the last games my dad played before he got out of gaming when I was kid so I never got into the overarching story but it always held a special place in my heart. I remember Snake eater being one of my first games I got for myself used and played alot of, and if memory serves there was a turn based PSP spinoff of it I played alot of as well. I remember playing up till the boss fight in the snowy forest on Guns Of The Patriots before it bricked my PS3, and I played Phantom Pain but was so lost I could never really get into it.
@@Lickicker and time for me to be violently American for a second, I actually bought myself a HK USP because it's the civilian model of the MK.23 because of this series.
@@joshuatilley13 i feel like the games can certainly be enjoyed singly, its just improved when you know the background and have those aha moments. for me a real nostalgia piece in final fantasy, 10 to be specific, i remember playing it with my grandpa as a kid when it came out.
Somes probably mentioned it further in the comments, but for MGS 3 and the two people you apparently killed, one of those is from the Phase 2 Shagohod, as you can beat it via stamina depletion with the Ends rifle, or the pistol if you’re insane. Not sure where the second was.
I actually found the second phase of shago pretty easy with the tranq pistol. Only switch between rpg to shoot the shagohods treads to make him slow, then running under him to the other side, switch to pistol, shoot the back of volgins head three times, and repeat until he is gone. The second kill was from where he killed ocelot for the Time Paradox and did hit "Continue" instead of exit. Kills that you make always count if you continue.
This was honestly such an awesome experience. I have a lot of nostalgia connected to these games and I am a big fan of the channel. I got to spend the majority of my day watching one of my favorite UA-camrs play through some of my favorite video games. Thank you for this monumental undertaking.
3:37:23 Agreed, D-Horse is good for transportation and Quiet makes for some good overwatch and support but DD auto-marks nearby enemies, you can pet him, and he stays with you all the time.
@@KABLAMMATS DD's a bit of a hazard around mines if you don't set DD to hold position but that's only happened to me once so not really many downsides that aren't VERY situational in nature.
It’s taken me three days of off and on watching to finish this, you’re an absolute madman Nerbit. Absolute masterpiece though, keep up the fantastic content, just know that it doesn’t have to be 4 hours again, unless you want to of course.
From what I understand, Ghost Babel and Acid 2 also had heavy Kogi direction. Acid 2 especially so. Seeing a last boss just stop to redo their deck of cards to give you a fair fight, only to be able to be simply kicked off a ledge immediately, always sticks out as one of those very Metal Gear moments to me. Oh, and then they just turn around, acknowledge the game's done, offer a truce, and y'all leave by firing out of a friggin Metal Gear. God I love Acid 2
You mentioned struggling against The Fury, so I figured I’d share some advice that helped me get better at the fight: 1) splitter camo tends to work better than Tiger Stripe camo in this arena 2) CQC works surprisingly well against him. I don’t remember if you can throw him, but you can do the classing punch punch kick to knock down then kick again or roll on him for another hit. Plus just rolling into him when he’s standing will knock him down, letting you get away quickly. Plus, after knocking him over a few times it will break his suit, allowing causing your tranq darts to deal more damage. 3) the middle row of the arena has a lot of pillars instead of a solid wall. This is really good for getting lots of chances to sneak up on him, or for running away from him by getting behind a pillar where his flamethrower won’t hit you. 4) rolling puts out the flames crazy quickly 5) he moves pretty slow when he’s not flying, so don’t be afraid to get to the other side of the arena, and wait while laying down to recover a bit of health. I’ve noticed that on normal he usually does enough damage to barely kill you in 4 hits, so getting that little bit of health to survive to a 5th, or even to get to a 6th is a pretty big deal. 6) you and most people probably already know this but just in case, the camo you get for beating him nonlethally, the fire camo, halves incoming fire damage and prevents you from taking red/hard damage, so in NG+ it’s a breeze.
We now have a fallout reference in a metal gear game. Truly the channel has come full circle! Absolute great video, well worth the wait. And thank you for making these: they're the highlight of my day when they come out.
I mean, you know what this means? Can you beat Fallout 4 as Venom Snake? There's even a mod that puts the MGSV outfits and faces (namely Venom's and Skull Face's as well as Quiet's) in the game. Get a female companion, make her into Quiet, find a way to turn Dogmeat into DD and wear the Venom suit and there you go.
Honestly, I think the ending to MG5 is kind of awesome. Kojima made a neverending cycle of war and violence, a Mobius strip of what he fears will happen to Japan, essentially becoming a proxy army for America, which is mirrored almost perfectly in the game. This wasn't your war, but Big Boss manipulated you to do his dirty work, and now Metal Gear's events are set to repeat ad infinitum.
That's really stupid though. Not the story of the games, but the context. Kojima thinks that Japan will be a proxy army for America? Well, for one, when you're allies with someone. That's what you do. You go to war for them when someone else goes to war against them, because it's in your best interests. And two, I am pretty sure America protects Japan pretty closely, considering that we have at least one, if not a few military bases there. I dunno, I love Metal Gear, but I don't agree with that. Even if some major war were to break out, Japan is hardly America's chief ally. We'd be more likely to call on Britian or something. Maybe I am overthinking things. I'll shut up now.
Are you actually this stupid, or did you just not think for even a second. The problem is the military presence of America. As they most clearly stated that if one of their soldiers is prosecuted for any crime that will make them serve jail time; they will consider it an act of war. And America has historically speaking never been at peace the fact that you are considered allies could also be seen as "please don't shot me" from who ever is allied with the country version of gold leaf. And whenever you are allied with America they expect you to take part in their bullying campaigns that happen on the regular.
@@TheHulk1850 Idk why americans are incapable of recognising that not everyone sees things with an American perspective. Proven by this ignorant comment

I think Code Talker explained in a cassette tape that much of his research on Parasites came from studying the body of The End. How he managed to get it despite The End’s corpse blowing up is beyond me, but we can infer that The End, and to some lesser extent most of the Cobra Unit, also get their powers from the Parasites.
Fun fact johnny is also either the son or grandson of to the guard from the jail in mgs3 as the guard states his name is Johnny and he comes from a long line of Johnny's and apperently IBS runs in the family
I will admit, i watched this all in one day but not one sitting as i had to pause to eat dinner. But i did rewind a few times to hear a few points again so this was more 4 and a half hours for me. Holy jesus what a video. It was truly worth the wait and was absolutely great. The best way to celebrate the 100th challenge run. Thank you for this gift Nerbit, and please NEVER do something this insane again as near the end it really did sound like sleep deprivation was affecting you after 4 days.
@thefirstcurse3123 Idk, a lot of people repost the Sen Armstrong speech on various meme sites with the caption, "When the villian starts making sense". I feel like that and Monsoon's "Memes!" Scene are what really keep this game relevant, even if I also adore the spin-off.
this is an awesome feat, props for doing it. ill be vicariously living through your play through, as Ive always wanted to play metal gear from the start now I can feel like I am with this video!
As a huge Metal Gear fan I really appreciated this. I replay these games every few years, and it's refreshing to see someone else that uses the same little strategies as me. Thank you Nerbit. Anyway, can you beat New Vegas as Solid Snake when?
The amount of time and effort this took can be heard and felt every time Nerbit cuts away to show his times. Great job man, you’re a stronger man than I.

I love this video so much and i come back to it over and over. It feels like someone telling you about their hobby for 4 hours and 15 minutes and i love that vibe. Hope you had a lot of fun making this. As someone who hasn’t played any metal gear games I certainly had a lot of fun watching it (your summaries of the games and their plot were really well done and made it very easy to follow even for someone who had no clue what was going on). Great job with the video would love to see more passion projects like this in the future!

Wow, that’s so ridiculous I love it. I REALLY gotta play Revengeance sometime
If I remember correctly Sam's sword is Muramasa but his family misheard/read it as murasama. Another funny detail
That was incredibly long
Fun fact: If you pop a fake death pill during the fear fight, then when he turns around pop the revive pill, if you throw a stun, every bit of damage dealt will be turned into stamina damage, therefore, with the AK you can kill him in like 3 seconds

@@PlayMadness I know that.

I think the fact that MGS5 Snake wasn't voiced by David Hayter or Kiefer Sutherland was the biggest tell.
Another comes in the "Shining Lights" mission. Venom says he can smell a sweet odour even through the mask, the Real Snake has no sense of smell
Also Big Boss's (original) AI says, "it's not you... is it?"
seemingly a question of "is that you" on a first time playthrough and more of a statement in the second playthrough.

Actually, it did retcon the whole ghost thing, it's just that those of us who like good storytelling ignore it.
Yeah, MGS4 definitely retconned the possession thing because it was dumb, even by Metal Gear standards.

The Murasama blade also referred to as the "A VT7 High-Frequency Blade". According to Blade Wolf, the sword's high-frequency conversion carried over the already excellent properties of the original sword, making it extremely powerful.
Hey Nerbit, one thing I wanted to mention
In the MGSV segment, you mentioned Volgin/Hothead not having any strength left and sort of just dieing, and I think that's only partially the reason.

Just played mgs3 on ps4, it still didn't remove the hind. Maybe a bug with the HD collection?

I believe Meryl's survival is confirmed as canon in MGS2 when Snake makes a reference to the infinite ammo headband.
I'm pretty sure one of the codec calls with Otacon on the oil tanker mentions her.
On the other hand, at the very beginning when he jumps off the bridge, he has the stealth camo on. He even mentions how the landing broke it.
@@Jouzou87 Otacon used one of those in MGS, might be his camouflage.
@@devilbuster20xx37 That's...my entire point. In the "bad" ending of MGS1, Otacon gives his camo to Snake.
He also says something about having enough of tomboys
You forgot the fact that volgin Doesn’t actually die
@@goodgoodgodclips Do not cite the magics at me, witch, I was there when Volgin was resurrected.

Good god, first of all, my congratulations for going through what are easily over 40 hours worth of cutscenes and being entertaining all throughout, second of all, this confirmed to me that ever since the first ever game, Koijma has been in a pretty much constant state of insanity
And Konami funded it
3:39:05 you actually _can_ call the chopper to at least 2 different locations, but doing so will cause sahelanthropus to follow it to wherever you send it, assuming it is currently patrolling and not aware of your location. This actually can be used to distract it long enough, since it isnt quite as fast as the chopper, so waiting near one landing zone, while the chopper sits somewhere else, then calling it to you is a viable way of getting out. Thats so far the only way i ever managed to do that mission
If you actually wait around in the cave in MGS3, Snake's eyes will adjust to the darkness and you can see a lot easier.
Not like he had time to waste, I guess
“This should feel like one of those two hour retrospectives”

OH GOOD LORD
Hehehe lmao

That sounds like Red Brass, where you have to capture three Soviet commanders.
I think I did that mission very similarly. But with a combo of sleep and stuns
This sounds like the human trafficker mission
1:43:16
So 2 corrections actually:
1. You *can* take it into New Game+
2. It doesnt make you quieter. It instead halves damage *and* stamina loss, the sorrow's camo is actually the one to muffle your footsteps
Man this really puts into perspective how much of a crack pipe fever dream the MG series truly is.... and I love it.
the fact theres multiple games released completely out of order as well as events from one game explaining another, its kind of thoroughly planned out but is super confusing in execution, if someone actually played through the games concurrently itd still probably be confusing just because youd be playing the oldest game immediately after the newest game
i feel i must add context to this for anyone confused, MGSV the phantom pain takes place in 1984, the original metal gear takes place in 1995. on another note, MGS3 snake eater is the earliest set game in 1964, followed by MGS4 being set in 2014, which is as far as we see all the biological snakes go, atleast 2 of them because ocelot was BSing everyone about liquid controlling him through his arm. also it might be alittle weird to see that in 5 years between 2 and 4 solid snake becomes an old man.
@@Lickicker see i never knew the actual time line i always enjoyed them because MGS was one of the last games my dad played before he got out of gaming when I was kid so I never got into the overarching story but it always held a special place in my heart.

I have legit watched this videa in its entirety six times so far. It's just so enjoyable to binge watch during the holidays
You mentioned struggling against The Fury, so I figured I’d share some advice that helped me get better at the fight:
1) splitter camo tends to work better than Tiger Stripe camo in this arena
2) CQC works surprisingly well against him.
4) rolling puts out the flames crazy quickly
5) he moves pretty slow when he’s not flying, so don’t be afraid to get to the other side of the arena, and wait while laying down to recover a bit of health.
@J M Americans have some sort of cultural narcissism or whatever that makes them think they are the only nation on earth that isn't just a tourist destination, political opponent or backwater.
Japan doesnt have an army. Why the fuck would they be an army
Otacon: Wholesome, friendly, good guy, romantic, endlessly tragic character who has lost everything in his life
Huey: Just the worst, bastard, waste of space, not tragic enough and needs to lose everything

Fun fact about the Gray Fox fight in MGS1! When he starts his electric bubble move, you can either chaff grenade him to disable that ability for a while, or you can just shoot him.
