Has anyone paid attention to the fact that a large percentage of everything that is on the shelf in American stores is illegal to sell in many European countries? In Russia, and in other places, they aren't allowed food assistance or government issued health care unless the recipient participates in some sort of an exorcize program.

Jup. We don't use certain kinds of food colorants, whitening agents or carcinogens to make our food more sweeter, more vibrant and/or whiter. Because at the end of the day it won't matter, a chicken is a chicken, bread is bread, candy is candy.
Best wishes to the american people, hopefully you'll be able to get regulations that benefit your health!

@@stewiegriffinfan18 you’ve missed the concept. Require fewer processed foods, incentivize healthy living, etc. To the point of the congressman, in the 1960s, obesity was 1/10th of where it is today. Diabetes is affected by obesity. Fix obesity, and you don’t spend as much on chronic conditions like diabetes because the comorbidity for it is eliminated. The beauty is, it doesn’t require additional spending to achieve.

By attempting to make the American society healthier, these two gentlemen talking about reducing the amount of (Taxpayer) money that will be funneled into the industrial health care industry. They make more money when people are sick and less money when people are healthy. simple as that.

Actually investing in infrastructure instead of a profit driven country is the main issue, but at the healthcare level it is tied into other things like agriculture regulation which is directly tied to distribution industry, (Walmart etc.) who have money to lobby. Change is possible but would call for a lot of quick action in government and that will never happen. Instead the solution is like David says, moral; companies should be maximizing efficiency top down, which is more possible everyday with ai. Maybe if we allocated resources for research like we did for the military….

@@AydenNamie I think we know what the problem is, that has been very well defined by the Representative. I agree 100 percent that there is a demographics issue and that healthcare is a core issue to the cost. What I DONT hear him say is a list of policy suggestions in a clear, bulletized list. He rails a lot, and I agree its warranted, but that works for 1 maybe 5 times. But eventaully you need to STOP saying the same talking pts and said offer the proposed solutions.
      Is is:
      1. Raise the full retirement benefit age. I think there is a legit reason to do that.
      2. Is it means test the benefits so that very wealth older people dont get any? I dont love it, but I can see the rational.
      3. Is it cut benefits a bit now, to extend the overall program? Possibly doing that now can lead to a more time and b less drastic cut later.
      4. Is it raising taxes another 1-2 percent and eliminating the cap of how much and kinds of income the SS tax applies to? I actually think this is needed regardless of it solving the issue or not. His refrain that taxation doesnt SOLVE the problem entirely is irrelevant to if it HELPS to solve the problem. Every difficult issue requires several pieces in its solution. Taxation is one piece and it doesnt make sense that there is a cap on the income made that gets taxed, and it should be on capital gains as well.
This is my pt...I quickly, easily outlined several options that could be then discussed...how hard is that?
