This video was shot a couple years ago. We show all tent setups in our new videos these days, and will do the same for this product when it gets updated. Thanks for watching!
The Catalyst is going to be your better option due to the full-coverage rain fly. The Colfax is great for fair weather, but not nearly as reliable in wet conditions. Thanks for watching!
I have one and have spent 3 days in it during a rain storm with my daughter. Zero complaints about the tent. Vented fine and all the gear in the vestibules stayed perfectly dry
@@taxman4072 Thanks for asking. This tent, unfortunately, cannot be set up with just the fly and footprint due to the fabric pockets where the brow pole attaches to the tent body. The fly does not have an appropriate spot for the brow pole to attach like on the body.
It depends a bit on the intended use and expectation. Overall, the Elixir is going to feel more livable due to the extended brow pole, but it also weighs 10 ounces more on average than the Catalyst. The Catalyst technically has a larger floor space, but the steep angled walls will make it feel smaller inside. When it comes to materials and durability, the tents are about the same so you're not sacrificing in either product. If you want a lighter tent, go for the Catalyst. If you want something that feels a little more roomy and spacious on the inside, go for the Elixir. Thanks for watching!
Becky you do a great job with these videos, thx!

Thank you.. If I have to chose between Colfax and Catalyst which would be better.. I am planning to use in humid and rain conditions.

Backcountry Edge Thank you for your recommendation 👍🏼
hi, have you heard any complaints about ventilation with this tent ? Since there are no vents and the fly doors have only one way zips.

Does the brow pole act as an awning over the door to limit rain in the tent as you come and go?
Hey Jeff like many tents the brow pole extends enough to the top of the doorway, so there isn't a true awning.
This is comparable to the North Face Storm Break 2, which would you recommend?
The Catalyst 2P weighs over a pound less, so I would lean in that direction
Can this be used as a minimalist sense with just the fly and footprint?
I am wondering this too. Did you find an answer?

If you had to choose between this and the MSR Elixir 2 what would it be?
