Vanished Media Awesome! Thanks for the compliment! I think it is a great way to go so you can get exactly what you want. After thinning the neck and adding the coil split I enjoy playing it more than my other guitars now. Best of luck on the mods!!
When drilling that specific in detail on guitar, I highly recommend using a water mist spray bottle. Begin with a small drill bit and masked off 1 inch around the area. Start small and finish. Spray it. Then work your way up to the size bit you need. Great project. Guitar looks perfect.
I was thinking about a cheap 7 string Guitar Just to try. I saw an ESP model on 200€ yesterday and now your video comes at the right time. I loved to build a DIY Guitar and now i am excited to try your awesome idea! I hope i'll be as good as you. Thank you so much!
Salvatore Manna Great to hear man! I’m glad to be of some help! It just takes a little planning ahead and patience and you can get some good results! Good luck on the build and thanks for the comment! Have a great day!
A couple words of suggestion: *keep the saddles on the bridge, and just take the 4 screws mounting the bridge out and pull the whole thing off. *if your going that far to modify it, you might as well have spent the extra couple hundred for a good quality set of pickups for it. It would have made your wiring back together easier for the coil split options... *you could have also gotten a Shadow KillPot for the volume pot, giving you a secret push-button kill switch... I myself would have done the following: a new set of good pickups, a DiMarzio EP1112 multi-pole 5-way switch for the coil split options, the Shadow KillPot for the bridge volume, and rewire the tone as the neck pickup volume to dial in that sweet spot in the middle position. All in all, it came out really good though man! Kudos on the job and doing a normally boring Ibanez Gio 7 into something a bit more special and unique! Cheers man! 🤘🏻😎🤛🏻🎸🍻
Very cool Dave! I've been thinking about finding an old beat up guitar and restoring it and adding some cool factor. The carving you did added a cool look for sure.
1bobvideo Thank you sir! It was definitely fun making it the way I wanted it instead of accepting the way it was made. It’s always cool seeing your guitar creations too!!
Nice video!! Yeah upgrading and modding guitars is almost like buying a new guitar. I have a couple old beaters that turned out better sounding that my high end guitars.
robert H It is weird how that can happen! I really love the tone of this guitar! It is really nice to make a guitar the way you want it!!Thanks for the compliment!!!
Nice job bro!! I have the same guitar but in 6 string and I just put a small shim under the neck so I could raise the saddles and not have the screws dig in my hand
Wow man, dunno how I'd found this video... But I'd found it, and I'm pretty happy. You're a genius, I will surely try to do this, maybe starting with an Harley benton, I've just 2 questions for you. How long was the therapy? And... Are you an expert? Using that tools? Thanks
Davesauce you could make a killing on the side doing this kind of stuff. I'd gladly ship u one of my guitars to have this done! Any thoughts of future projects?
justin evans haha, thanks man, i definitely need a lot more practice to make it a profession lol. As far as new projects, I really don’t know, I have a couple more ideas for the same guitar but I’m not sure how to accomplish them lol. Thanks for the compliments man!!
Welton Silva de Oliveira Awesome man! I actually googled an image of a side view of the guitar and scaled it up to the actual size of the Guitar and printed out four sections of that. Thanks!
I dig it man....I do this stuff all the time. I think the wood is a little unbalanced on the left compared to the right. I think you should MOD the design little more to fit the guitar shape better instead of just using the template you printed . Make it completely custom design using your eye more
There is an better ibanez model which is the Ibanez RGMS7, multiscale 7 string with a 5 piece bolt on neck. You can do this reveal bevel mod on that one and it is gonna look insane.
This inspired me to buy a 200 dollar and modding the shit out of it. Great video 👍🏻.

Same, but I had this idea in mind for a while already, just made me want it more.
@@Davesauce How did go on the long run, had any problems with the neck because of the tension of the strings or something of that sort?

Wowo!!!!!!!!
LOOKS AMAZING!!
Your hard work really paid off. Thanks for sharing it.
And nice BerriedAlive parody 🤣🤣
I love how thorough ♡
To avoid damaging the finish around where you drill put masking tape over where you're drilling and go up through the sizes or use a step drill.
StraylightGuitars bradpoint drill bits for wood are best
Running the drill in reverse will help keep the finish from being damaged also.

Any chance of you adding the template in the description?
That looks really good, man. Good job.
that was incredible man congrats
Very inspiring video!!!! I have my gio 5 string bass with mahogany body Im planning to do some body work on it. Thanks for sharing!
Those bevels turned out sick! Now I'm thinking about doing bevels on my Ibby mod project... :)
I've been looking for some awesome cosmetic mods, i think i might have to try this one
Cool job man...
Anyway , what do u think about sculpting the back on the neck joint as well? , for a better /thinner grip and access ....

Btw can you make a video oh how you did that coil split thing with regular humbucker.. would appreciate it a lot.
Cool, now you have me wanti to re-finish my "rg kit guitar"!!!
Wow, that looks amazing!!!
nice job dude you made worth much for gio stuff now that's a guitar man! DIY double ;D
Awesome job!

Awesome my man! Really nice work!
Great idea to try!
I want to do the inserts for the bridge like that, would you happen to still have the sizes for the screws and threaded inserts?
Im actually impressed looks pretty decent
Nice job
Nice! I would reveal a bit of wood also on the headstock, to better match the body
Awesome man! I love it!
NerveFunk Thanks!!
This is awesome dude you rock
Looks pretty good BUT bottom horn has a similar scollop on the back aswell!
Are you able to provide the template size in pdf or show us how you scaled it up?
This is awesome!
Put a nice Hipshot hardtail bridge there and you're set, that shit will sustain for ages!
Cool 👍🏻
I'd like to know how you were able to print the template.
Wow man, dunno how I'd found this video... But I'd found it, and I'm pretty happy.

Davesauce Yeah man, I subb'd to see what's to come
Two tone red and black would work great.
cool modds 🤘
Damn that's sick. Might have to try this on my cheaper guitar. The LTD M10...lmao
What color stain did you use?
Dammmmmn nice dude 🔥
Awesome video, gonna do the same to my RG7321!
Do you still have the template?
Greetings
Welton Silva de Oliveira Awesome man! I actually googled an image of a side view of the guitar and scaled it up to the actual size of the Guitar and printed out four sections of that. Thanks!
@@Davesauce any tips on how to get the proper scale? I can print a pic out but can only eyeball the size right?
Song at the end?
What are the tools you used called? I’d like to do this mod myself. Thanks!
A rasp for the body shaping then a soldering iron for the wiring

Lance Vessylum Thanks for the compliment! Rgd’s are awesome guitars!! Have a good one!
I really hope you will get one very soon if you don't have yet :)
Anyways greetings from philippines :)
Haha I have not yet hopefully one day. Greetings sir!!
Omg! Why didn't you use a dremel tool??
Because he does NOT have one?
@@Cestariarts so he didn't use one because he has one? That makes no sense!
@@smaariseth sorry, I meant DOES NOT HAVE one
Should have put a Les Paul over it ,then it would be more valuable
Whatever noise that is in the background ruins this amazing video. The repetitive creaking. Ugh.
All you need to do is buy an rgd neck on ebay
THIS IS A BLASPHEMY !!! 😂😂😂
