Vanished Media Awesome! Thanks for the compliment! I think it is a great way to go so you can get exactly what you want. After thinning the neck and adding the coil split I enjoy playing it more than my other guitars now. Best of luck on the mods!!

@@Davesauce How did go on the long run, had any problems with the neck because of the tension of the strings or something of that sort?

When drilling that specific in detail on guitar, I highly recommend using a water mist spray bottle. Begin with a small drill bit and masked off 1 inch around the area. Start small and finish. Spray it. Then work your way up to the size bit you need. Great project. Guitar looks perfect.

To avoid damaging the finish around where you drill put masking tape over where you're drilling and go up through the sizes or use a step drill.

Running the drill in reverse will help keep the finish from being damaged also.

    A couple words of suggestion:
*keep the saddles on the bridge, and just take the 4 screws mounting the bridge out and pull the whole thing off.
*if your going that far to modify it, you might as well have spent the extra couple hundred for a good quality set of pickups for it. It would have made your wiring back together easier for the coil split options...
*you could have also gotten a Shadow KillPot for the volume pot, giving you a secret push-button kill switch... I myself would have done the following: a new set of good pickups, a DiMarzio EP1112 multi-pole 5-way switch for the coil split options, the Shadow KillPot for the bridge volume, and rewire the tone as the neck pickup volume to dial in that sweet spot in the middle position.
All in all, it came out really good though man! Kudos on the job and doing a normally boring Ibanez Gio 7 into something a bit more special and unique!
    Cheers man! 🤘🏻😎🤛🏻🎸🍻

I dig it man....I do this stuff all the time. I think the wood is a little unbalanced on the left compared to the right.
