  • Remembrance Day 2012 Vancouver BC Canada (Nov 11, 2012) - A Soldiers Parade by the Canadian regiment, cadets, RCMP, and veterans through Hastings Street after a Remembrance Day ceremony at Victory Square. On Nov 11, 2015, the Liberal government under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held the Remembrance Day service in Ottawa and among those present was the newly appointed Liberal Minister of Defense Harjit Sajjan from Vancouver South. Earlier in the day in Vancouver, a Changing of the Guard took place at the Cenotaph and the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services Band and others played 'Maple Leaf Forever', 'In Flanders Fields', a bag-pipe performance of 'The Lament', 'God Saves The Queen' and other tribute music to pay respect to those who gave their lives in the service of Canada during World War Two (WWII), the Iraq War and most recently the Afghan War. A Canadian Air Force military aircraft fly-pass was also part of the Remembrance Day or Poppy Day programming this year.
    Lest We Forget!
P.S. In Remembrance Day 2013 Vancouver, there was an inaugural Poppy Run at Stanley Park a day before the main event. The Vancouver RCMP Pipe Band performed.
