    Just want to say to Freightliner ". The Casscadia is a smooth riding truck . It made my 11 hours a day a hundred percent better. I'm relaxed.after my day. The international I had was horrible

    Not a fan of the digital dash, it seems like an afterthought. They just glued iPad over the old interior, I bet there's still a giant hole where the old gauge cluster was.

      I don't like them either, ELD alone gives more than enough eye strain already. Compare to the analog gauges LED displays are harder too read during the day and gives you an eye strain during the night ...

      We don't have many issues with it but a lot of people do say they prefer the Pete, so in the end it's up to personal preference it seems

    Wish they had changed some things. These newer cascadias are so uncomfortable. Little bumps launch you into the stratosphere. Pedals are way too stiff and far back

    Why not use a European style cab over for city work? Tighter turning circles and the driver can still have a bed.

      Freightliner still makes a cabover, called the Argosy. Or they did until 2020 model year, seen them occasionally out in LA.

      Always wondered why not get Volvo FH’s or if you want PACCAR, just get DAF’s. Always wondered why there is almost no Scania support. They are really really good trucks.

    For those of you that know, how much are these in US $$ compared to the sleepers? Is the ride quality and steering when loaded a lot different than the sleeper on the Highway. I’m looking at a heavy 5th wheel puller (DRV) and I notice most of the folks in the states pull with used sleepers, but don’t use them to sleep in. Most are purchased at 400-500K miles when you guys turn them in. The rationale for getting a heavy duty truck (HDT) is the air breaks, torque and just having the weight to pull a 25K 5th wheel which is nothing for these trucks. You don’t get the trailer pushing the truck around like you do with a light duty dually truck. These are much cheaper to purchase than a medium duty RV hauler. Thanks all for your expertise.

    How much does it cost, where is the review of the interior? I was just assigned a Cascadia and I hate the POS! The truck has a Detroit engine that has to be regened every two weeks which takes about an hour! I have to find a safe place to park in order to regen so I'm shut down for an hour! Climbing into the cab there is a grab bar to the left that I keep hitting my knee on and is useless because I can hold onto the door handle. The back of the cab still has two windows with a divider down the middle instead of a one-piece glass window. The cup holders are too low, the trailer brake lever is too low located at my right knee. And worst of all the gear shift is not a gear shift. It's a knob that has to be twisted like a windshield wiper behind the steering wheel that cant be seen when the steering wheel is level! Put the trailer brake up on the dash so it can be pulled down instead of pushed down at my knee. Put the gear selector away from behind the steering wheel! Use a one-piece back window instead of a two-piece with a divider down the middle. Put a Cummins or Paccar engine in that will regen while going down the road. The only improvement I have seen is that the windshield and door windows are one piece instead of two (WOW) way to go team. All the desk jockeys making a three figure salary with benefits need to get behind the wheel of the trucks there designing in order to know what it feels like to live in those trucks.

    Good day. Very nice truck. Wouldn't a 4x2 setup be more efficient, with the same gearing and motor, besides being more maneuverable ?

      In Canada a single drive axle has a limit of 9,100 kg whereas a tandem can carry 17,000 kg.
      4x2 tractors work great for LTL companies, ET is a truckload company.

      @@Freightlinerbob I drive in Europe being 4x2 tractors with a three axle trailer. These singles can legally take 12,000 Kg. For a max gross weight of 40,000 kg, or payload of 25,000 kg. Thanks

    • @Freightlinerbob
      @Freightlinerbob 2 роки тому +2

      @@wheelman1235 in Canada, 5 axles is 39500kg, 6 axles is 46,500kg and 8 axles is 63,500kg. More than that and you’ll need a permit.
      US is 36,300 kg for 5 axles.

    • @wheelman1235
      @wheelman1235 2 роки тому +3

      @@Freightlinerbob not a big fan of 4x2 tractors . I find them weak looking as compared to a 6X4 tractor, which is more eye pleasing. We use singles because of the small roads and for better turning clearances. Our units measure 16.5 m as compared to 23m class 8 big rig. A W900 would be fine for a toll route, but on an average street, lots of posts and balconies would come tumbling down. Our drive lines are mainly direct with a 2,64 rear and 13 L engines- AMT. Not as spectacular as 389 or Cascadia, but they do the job well under the circumstances. Merry Christmas
