Yes is so powerful the first time I heard it I got so scared, I was passing through my dark night of the spirit and someone sent it to me, probably God wanted me to hear it to help me heal it took me time to digest it. Is the ancient of days piece the one in the Bible. Sanat Kumara. Blessings
This proud masterpiece is Finland itself , This proud masterpiece is a good fit for great Finland . This proud masterpiece can be heard across the sea to Japan , and Japanese will be impressed From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
Im playing this in my highschool orchestra , now that I listen to it more it reminds me of stories and movie scenes I watch with a romance full of events
No, No thats why I love this performance. This is a happy happy piece. and is always performed soooo slowly. It is the history of Finland... now ( in 1917 ) free. This is a celebration !!
Wow, hearing the hymn "Be Still, My Soul" out of context, I always felt like it was a fairly dramatic, almost mournful, hymn. But now listening to Finlandia in its entirety, I realize that that's actually one of the more peaceful and joyful sections of the piece. Amazing what context can do.
To understand Finlandia like a Finn does you also have to understand the words and the times. Here some good performances in English and one I like the most. Personally I get upset if it's played too slow and too hymn like. ua-cam.com/video/fE0RbPsC9uE/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/F5zg_af9b8c/v-deo.html
How can a man think this music in his head, then write it down on paper, then musicians play it in totality, all the differing instruments coming together ? ...pure genius
This part starts in 5:15 Finland, behold, thy daylight now is dawning, the threat of night has now been driven away. The skylark calls across the light of morning, the blue of heaven lets it have its way, and now the day the powers of night is scorning: thy daylight dawns, O Finland of ours!
Great version, but at the end, 07:25, the theme that the woodwind choral started at the beginning, isn't clear. I mean that the accompaniement is louder that this theme.
+Emmanuel Gapud Just looks like concentration to me. I find the male flutist and the bass players, who are dancing out of their shoes, to be the amusing ones. But the members of this orchestra look young. Are they high school age? College? Let youth be exuberant, they'll be beaten down by life soon enough. ;)
I'm in an orchestra. And I agree, they all look funny. As a violinist, I have no right to judge. But this is UA-cam so one can get carried away. Sorry.
This piece by Sibelius just sends shivers down my spine. There is something about it...

Magnifica
I liked the sounds of a drum, cymbals, and a triangle!
And the themes live on and we hear them in the symphonies and other of his works. Magnificent!

Uno de los contrabajos se lo pasa bomba, y eso me gusta. Magnífica obra.

God's higher mind. To someone who listens, and recognize his voice.
@@anamendez9741 Do you believe in God ? if so, why
Amazing! very very well done! thanks for do it
Es maravilloso ver uma orquestra de gente tan joven que toca com tanto profesionalismo sin perder um ápice la belleza de la obra.

How about that jivin' double bass player (3:53, 7:00, 7:32, etc.)! :-)
Five string double basses!
Y poderosa.

+Íñigo Aramburu Arnaiz
That's true. There is that.
But it makes the final theme less epic. The last cry of the finish mother when the young boy arrives from the war.
Does anyone happen to know what piece was played after this with the solo violin?
Glória a Deus
i will play string bass in this piece
At measure 136 is like ugh!!!!!!!! Cello player
.... Damn I gotta do this for an audition piece...... But I cannot make it as good as this.......
Rutinaria version..
.
ctmmm, que es bueno el timbalista:')
Wow that cellist in the strapless dress...
Also I sadly feel that this piece is being rushed - especially towards the end!
Des de el minut 5:04, la tonada es una copia de la canso catalana Virolai, compossda el 1881. Llastina Sibelius!!!

Is that Joaquin Phoenix playing the cymbals? :D
Am I the only one who finds the timpanist hilarious? >:]
+Emmanuel Gapud Why? Are you not familiar with this instrument. I think him very contained and correct. i am a timpanist so maybe i am hilarious
Yeah, you're right. But his face, I just love his expression as he carries out his work. Chances are he isn't superfrowning on purpose.
