I'm a violinist and I'd did me in quite a bit....not the usual classical stuff.....the thrills were great.....the scales wee confusing,I guess he fit in a little practice right before the end....
Rachmaninov did not write a violin concerto. Even if he had, those composers are not even close stylistically. That said, I love this violin concerto, even more than Prokofiev's Second.

2:29 - 2:49 is wonderful. Nobody else can do it. Kavakos, Perlman and Stern played it definitely wrong; Repin, Zimmermann and Hahn played it right but ugly. Only Maxim Vengerov was OK but not so sensitive.

this is a gorgeous performance. Personally I find the camera work a little intrusive, particularly the up the belly perspective.
i was wondering about the same thing from the second movement, like where was the camera, filming her from below?

till now was Vengerov my favourite but he is maybe too harsh (as usual).
