Finally someone who just tells me what these commands do! SO many videos just throw a bunch of in-game lingo at you without taking any time to explain any of it! You're a blessing, muh dude!
Great that you mentioned how important tank cd are. I got into a level 78 dungeon. Tank used no cooldowns on wall to wall pulls. We wiped twice in a row on the first pull. New tank came and I didn't have trouble healing for the rest of the dungeon.
@@fade6355 really depends on the player. i can heal while barely paying that much attention for most content, but if i stop focusing as a tank everything goes to shit pretty fast. tank has less wiggle room than healing imo
Thank you for this video! Helps give me an idea on when to use things like Arm's Length. Never used it because I didn't realize it's additional effect slowed attack speed.
Been playing 14 on and off since beginning. Not Endgame currently but have been Endgame before on dps. Only started watching your videos to learn healer and tank stuff and now discovering things I never knew about the whole game!
This helped me so much. Just ran sastasha as gld just a few minutes ago and only died once 'cause my healer bud ran to look at the note. Otherwise, went swimmingly even if I was panic screaming the whole way. ;w; (I main healers so tankxiety is hiiiiigh)
5:03 The puddles are not permanent, but will last for a long time. They basically last enough for them to be 3 or 4 in the arena. In a normal run, they won't dispel before you finish the boss but if you pick a particularly bad group or use an imexperienced squadron party, you may see them vanishing now and then to give space for more puddles. :P
Thanks for these guides, really helpful for a new player. I would be interested to understand your key binds and hotbar management to be optimal in your various rotations. Currently playing a paladin as my main class, sitting at lvl47. Keep up the good work!
I mean, like I say in the 1-80 series, "everyone has their own way of doing things." Slowly build on what feels comfy, build further and build new muscle memory as you level up
Decided to watch this to learn about tank role actions since I'm learning to tank, and seeing a lot of comments (edit: Okay, like, two here so far, but I see it a lot in other places too) saying "No no, you use Shirk to grief toxic players". No, you don't use Shirk for that. You use REPORTING for that. You could just as easily get reported for malicious shirking as someone else could for any other toxic behavior. I see this same thing with Rescue, and can't help but wonder how it's any LESS toxic than just being verbally toxic right back. 😐 Lol. Anyway, sorry for the rant in your comments! Great video as always. :)
12:42 wait WHAT?!! ATTACK SPEED? i though that slow meant movement speed. Do you have any idea how many of my failed long pulled could've been avoided if i knew that? its a good thing this video exists.
Welcome to FF! Where "slow" has always been attack speed, but non-FF fans would basically never know that without getting hit by one of the rare slows enemies use and reading the tooltips. You're not alone, by far. A LOT of people don't realize it
2 years too late but my GF noticed that Interject interrupts the redder progress bars. Those seem to usually be spells and you mentioned "silence" which stops spells.
level 73 dark knight and finally found out what interject does xD reading the description was fine but it was pretty much useless 99.9% of the time i never even notice the glow on the cast bar for enemies
Can someone tell me what the interject does?nvm... umm how can you select a friendly really quick instead of getting your cursor lost in the magic mess and clicking on him
This is awesome - just subbed! Loved this guide, thanks for making it. I'm a newb to this and all of your videos are so helpful! Could you maybe consider making a 0-80 skills guide for Warrior? I'm trying to get better and figure out rotations for it. Thanks!!
I actually made this specifically because WAR is next on the list. I didn't want a WAR guide that didn't go over role actions since those are super key to your usefulness
As of tonight, I have about 50% of the editing done, after having recorded ALL the voice lines, just today. I need to get one more piece of footage at least and make a couple images, but depending on how much time I spend on it, I can get it out Sunday.

Loving these guides, informative without being too rambly. Just returned after not playing since Heavensward and these have been super helpful.
Sometimes I feel like I do ramble lol. But I'm trying to fit in everything I know newbies wanna know to have a successful time in FF!
@@WeskAlber Nah, you're fine, I prefer the more thorough guides so I don't miss anything. Keep doing what you're doing.👍

I wasn't sure what to look out for when using Interject. This helps a lot! Thanks!
Love your tanking guide and lving 1-80 paladin. Really helpful as a new player
dude, you´re helping me in a big way to improve in ffxiv, your guide are awesome and easy to understand
I absolutely adore these videos!
Tank is the one role I haven’t tried. It feels more complex than healer to me.
Mao Mochi it’s not healing is a bit harder tbh

Thank you for explaining all of this! It's my first time tanking in a game, so I was looking for some very specific info and you cleared it all up!
Shirk can also be used to throw the boss on toxic players 🙂
Or sassy healers that like to pull their tanks towards more mobs... A shirkable offence!
@@asheralocke And a bannable one too. That is to say, shirking the healer will get you banned, rightfully so
I can't shirk anyone if ot doesn't voke i keep aggro why is this just wanna troll my static on failed runs xD

Really appreciate you and the effort you put into these. After 20 years of MMO gaming, I’m slowly - finally - getting over my tankxiety!

Yo ty so much! I couldn't find a guide on how to use shirk.
Thank you, I've been struggling with Interject because the game doesn't explain the pulsing cast bars. Now I know when I can use it!
Super video! I applauded for €5.00 👏👏
i solo queued ultima's bane once and we actually cleared. There might've been a party there, but that's a thing that happened to me.

They must have changed that or something, because back when I made this, you could see 6 or 7 puddles in a particularity bad party (read - tank)
Awesome video- thank you for putting this together!

One great addition is to not immediately interrupt. Be sure to let them cast for a while to waste more time! :D
Not quite. In trials and raids it's programmed off a specific timetable. Holding just risks death
12:35 Thanks, now I can’t pay attention anymore because of the twinning music.
Is the example in the Shadowbringers dungeon interrupting the buff the Fuath cast?
Correct!
This is so helpful thank you!

Another great tutorial!!!
Today I learned that Arm's Length slow effect does apply to enemies, not yourself. : D
as coming from wow. so FF XIV stuns are the kicks from wow? currently leveling a samurai and somehow i'm missing a kick/interrupt.
Check your melee Role Actions

You can click in your party list. There's also member select keybinds in the keybind menu
Thank you

huh?

Depends on the fight often provoke is useful enough. Some prefer not using shirk since they prefer ot as second on dps list
I feel bad about this but the 69 can not be left
