😂You have made a good decision to do what you are doing. So few don't. They will be slaves to the mighty dollar until they get to where we are now and ask, "well, what was that all about". We live here in Tasmania, in a small home, in a very small village, beside the sea. We were unable to have a family and felt very much outside the box so had to find what made us feel alive and yet be happy to be outside . We travelled alot as much as we could afford. In our 70s now and do not regret our decision. Beautiful walks with our dogs, great gardening, artistic endeavors, yet still close enough to the norm. And we can watch travel adventures to our hearts content. We have time to view, read and dream. Thank you for being honest. Xx
As someone who emigrated to Europe from the US nearly 40 years ago, I feel qualified to give a bit of advice on the issue of homesickness: Attitude and perspective. You've chosen Italy and your property; that is HOME. Stop thinking of the US culture or conveniences as things to be missed or longed for, or as "home". Obviously, keep in touch with family and close friends; but make friends where you are, and when you think of going home, think of your stone barn, not the States. The sooner you can make that mental step, the easier it will be. Make your life where you are; dig into the culture, history, neighbourhood and community and integrate as soon as you can... Also, if you are missing certain comfort foods or items from shopping in the States, try and find alternatives in Italy as soon as you can - that will help with the feeling of "being home"...

As a 72YO retired nurse of 46 yrs, I can not begin to praise you enought for doing what you are doing, You are putting family first and doing what makes you happy. USA is now so stressed that we have LOST our way. Work and money - how much is enough? To have enough money to live, have family and feel happy - you are rich and will grow, even if in another country. I will be watching your progress. Sending my best.
People in the US truly think they can take it with them. If I were younger and things were different for me, I would be looking for a place to live out of the US. Yes, I realize other countries also have their issues but the US now is not the US I was born into.
I am an Italian immigrant whose family settled in Canada. You are raising the next generation so it is vital that you lead by example. I envy you, and I think your logic is sound. I can say, you are leaving a toxic country, which is only getting worse, because to fix it would involve too much change, and as you know, people find it difficult to change. The US is a slippery slope.
Absolutely correct! I am from Germany and moved to the US with my husband who was in the Army. As a European I must say that here in the US people live to WORK......more money more stuff . In Europe....life and family first. Relax and enjoy life. Great show!
I hear you. on the Live to work thing. I am 46 yrs now. and I was layoff of work in 2019 before Covid, and now I am not planning to go back to work now, but am also now Full-time taking care of my 70 yr old parents. they Just past their 50 yrs of marriage. I love being able to care for them and helping out. I don't have much. I have clothes on my back and a bed. I see my parents house bought in 1990 and just paid off Feb 2023. and they have things in the house. that they bought and now is just sitting here in the house. collecting dust. We can't take it with us when we die. I would rather just be able to sit and talk to my family and long-time friends and extended family. than go buy them something that is going to sit on the shelf. Money doesn't make happiness. family and friends do.
Yes i think family first if i could do everything over again i would live in Europe. Italy or Spain. Ive been to both countries several times. But now im 76 moving might not be my best interest now. Im alone and now looking for options for the rest of my life. I love how this family made a big change i wish them the best in their lives. Follow your dreams life is to short.
I am an American living in Sweden and I could not agree more. This move was one of the best things ive done for myself mentally and physically. I had to learn to "relax" at work bc i was still stuck in the US work mentality. My work is always done but just in a more relaxed state. How wonderful for your children to experience life as an adventure.
I've been considering becoming an expat to Italy or Portugal and my biggest anxiety is how I'll have to deprogram from our 'go go go' culture and actually learn how to be human and more than my job title.
Greetings from Scotland! I can sympathise with you guys because my wife and I went through a very similar process. We married at 18yo and went on honeymoon to the Northern Scottish Highlands - and we stayed! Jobs were abundant and houses also! The first year was really hard and we both wanted to give in and go back home. At the end of last April we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary, in Scotland - where we still live, very happily! We are both SO glad we stayed, brought up a family and our children have done the same. Hang on in there guys!

The Brits (but not the Americans) ...thought they were all radicals for wanting independence from the Crown ...but we never thought of the Crown or any of the Commonwealth as conservative either ...we thought of them as colonialists. Ha! ha! ...funny how those terms are viewed so differently in different countries! My Scottish teacher was passionate about reclaiming the Scottish Crown for Scotland alone as well. The small contingent of "republicans" protesting the recent coronation are seen as "radicals" ...but in America a Republican is conservative ...go figure!!

There are some mountain walks on my channel, but that's really it. I spent most of my married life working stupid long hours to just get by. My car takes all the vids now! 😂😂
You have been incredibly brave and healthy moving out of the US!! (I did it in 1982, when I was 24). What you have done is absolutely extraordinary! The 'missing home' is 100% normal. It dissipates after 2 years. Because you are all together, as a family, it should take far less time. It is the greatest gift you could possibly give your children. It WILL all work out! Don't give up. All of this (what you are going through) is perfectly normal. Irons in the fire, getting stronger.

I agree. I'm still in the USA but I moved away from the big city and left everything behind. No regrets at all. I now live a simple life and I'm embracing opportunities of meeting new people and discovering new places and new ways of doing things. I have never liked following trends. And I don't have any desire of going back to the city not even for visits.

@@maximac222 My son was in the Navy stationed at Pearl Harbor for seven years. He surfs and it’s his home. He was tired of worrying about me and the CA wildfires. Plus CA isn’t what it used to be. I would never raise children there. Even though my son and I are both native San Diegan’s, we lived there when it was a great place to live. Not anymore…
Hawaii is insanely expensive now. Friends moved there back in the 70’s with vacation homes, now many live there permanently and have expanded their vacation homes to huge multimillion dollar full time homes.
@@ccsocal768 I owned a home in California for years and it’s no more expensive than living there. It’s a better place to live out my old age though. I feel bad for renters in Hawaii though, there’s a housing shortage and it is actually easier and cheaper to buy here than it is to get a rental.
We really enjoyed your reasons. We have enjoyed all your videos. We moved to Italy from America almost five years ago. When we get asked why, we always say that we weren't running away from America, but rather, running to Italy. It is such a wonderful country, filled with wonderful people.
Trouble is at home and at least acknowledging that's leaving the problem to continue while we go away. Too much colonisation is based on dissociation from problems we actually carry with us to other places... Maybe this is a return to europe for some people's heritage, however admitting what we left unwilling or unable to address behind within or ahead of us (for decendants) is literally the difference between re, de or just colonising again and again. 8-9 months is hard to no return home..especially where children are involved... However Most important is healing the wounds of those who have been colonised and how we are all left when healing is not provided and allowed for... We carry on with culture which is not natural to the nature of the person, all of life or places of nature.
What a well-done video! My Husband and I moved from the U.S. and will have been living on the Sun Coast of Spain for three years this November. You nailed it on every point. The vibe here is so much more relaxed and people love living a healthier, closer to nature lifestyle! Meals and socializing are for the most part outdoors...there is always a Fiesta or celebration somewhere to be a part of!!! Great point made about easy and inexpensive travel as well. We are no longer in the "bubble" and have a whole new perspective and appreciation for new possibilities! 🥰
Thank you for sharing. We live off grid in interior Alaska. We are building a place out of pocket and living below our means as a way to simplify our life. Too many people are caught up in the rat race of life and the desire to have stuff. My husband used to be like you working 60+ hours a week and I was an at home mom. We are now working just as many hours BUT we are together, talking, laughing and enjoying each other. I am happy for you to be able to do this adventure while your children are young. They will have incredible memories and skills that most people do not. Thank you for sharing your life with the world.
I'm an expat Australian living in Mexico. We built our house and grew a permaculture garden. Getting residency in any country is tricky and many countries don't let you leave during the process or if leaving is allowed, the time restraints are so short, like two weeks in my case, that travelling home was economically impossible. Your house setting is spectacular and the lifestyle extremely valuable. I'd love to live somewhere so beautiful. My husband and I dedicated alot of our time bringing our children up to be Australian as well as Mexican... for example I encouraged reading books in English, playing musical instruments, cooking, gardening, sewing, minding animals (activities rather strange in this part of the world) and my husband brought up our children up to be Mexican which meant building, fixing cars, soldering, electrical work, repurposing junk, making the most of a low income. It's rather hard being between two cultures. I hope you make some close friends. I've found the social aspect rather difficult especially now that my kids have grown up , not going to school and are living in other countries. Some of my friends moved away from this city. Family is not only a social identity but it gives links to other social groups. When there is no extended family, one has to work to be accepted.... I didn't work enough in this area. I vividly remember, when I was in the tiny villages in the northern Italian alps, how it felt like time was slower there. It was captivating. There was a shepherd on the hillside with his goats, just like in the movie, Heidi. It was incredible.
I agree with you. I worked minimum 80 hours a week for 40 years in Los Angeles. My work was my life, my family, my hobby, everything. I didnt even have time to take my dog for a walk. I had to hire dog walkers. I also do not want to live in the environment that America has become. It is angry, negative, hateful and fearful. Children being killed in their schools is not what I want to say defines my country. I felt a deep dark hole in my sole in the US. I began looking for a different life. I found it in Central Italy in the Majella mountains. I bought a small home, live in a tiny village, I can get anywhere by train or bus. I really love the live and work dynamic in Italy. The people here are more in tune with the big picture and what is good for all rather than me me me. Your children seem well adjusted and thriving. They will be able to open their hearts to their dreams. I wish you the best in Italy.

I can definitely relate. I moved to Chile for 7 years and once my grandkids were born, I couldn’t stay away, the struggle to stay or to move back was hard, I didn’t want to miss watching my grandkids grow and at the same time I also wanted to stay, because the quality of life was much better there and we had established relationships and a peaceful lifestyle. Now, that we are back, I hardly see my grandkids, because I live 2 hours away from where they are and they have their life. This makes it even harder because I have the impulse to want to look for a better place to live. My husband fell sick from the stress of work and the fast pace that we live in here in the US. So, I totally can understand and relate. I continue to struggle with moving away again. Stay strong, I am sure God has you there for a purpose. ❤
I can relate I have grown kids w/children who live/lived lives in one of the Service Branches, so they moved all the time and so for away I physically got to see them maybe every 4 years. They have settled now but still to far for regular travel and flights indeed are so expensive when on a set low budget. Thank God for giving us cell phones so we can talk daily and weekly and video chats. But it is indeed not the close knit family scenario I had hoped for!

You are right, the only problem is that they now live on the revenues from UA-cam so they have to be careful and refrain from speaking about politics or religion. Listen, I love the work they’re doing with the stone house and the location is breathtakingly beautiful. I’m a poc of color. If they had mentioned they were MAGAs, that would be it for me. It would just steal the joy their journey gives me and I was a Republican, but the lie about IraqI war did it for me. I guess that’s were we are now.
I will turn 60 this summer. When I was a kid in the 1970's, people were getting their Licensed Vocational Nurse degree and certification at the local community college, the state picked up the tab for tuition and books because they saw it as a good investment. Flash forward to now, I worked last year in a restaurant. I got to know a server, a young woman who was really sharp and astute. She was turning 21 and she lived with her mom to save not paying rent. She always told us that she scrimped and saved everything, every spare dime went to tuition because she was trying to avoid taking out student loans. She finally got accepted into our local community college licensed vocational nurse program. She looks at me, with a straight face, and tells me that she is "Only 6K in student loan debt". I said, "How on earth is it that you have only gone to community college, that you JUST NOW got accepted into the vocational licensed nurse program, yet you had to borrow 6K to make it this far????". She replied that most of her friends owed so much more. I thought, 21 years old and already owes 6K, what is going to happen one day when she wants to get married and have kids? WHY are we saddling our young adults, our CAPABLE young adults who want to become nurses, with so much debt? How is this helpful to our country and our future?
My wife and I love watching you guys! The education that your daughters are receiving is priceless. We are a couple in our 50's and totally understand the terrible work/life balance here in the states. Also, the expensive healthcare. We recently purchased a home in Sicily for less than you purchase a vehicle here in the US. At the first opportunity, we will be moving as well. Hey guys I’m not a regular commenter but I found this video really inspiring. I grew up in a similar way, sort of - my parents moved from New Zealand to South East Asia with me and my two younger sisters when I was ten years old. Certainly it was difficult at times but the places we got to travel to were absolutely incredible and the perspective it’s given me as an adult into different cultures and points of view has definitely made me a better person, and I’m sure your daughters will feel the same as they get older. My boyfriend and I have been working with Americans and Canadians for several years. Last summer we went to LA to edit a movie and a documentary, and we lived for quite a long time in a huge mansion in Beverly Hills that had been "lent" to us by an old friend of our producer. We are both Italian, and we are about to finish renovating an old house we bought in Florence; we did most of the heavy lifting (including hurting our backs while digging dirt and boulders from underneath the whole house to insulate the floor from humidity, emptying a basement full of debris, and well... old poop, exactly like you did), then we hired some companies to do the things we weren't allowed to do ourselves. You know what? I totally get it. Our circumstances kind of "mirror" yours, since we were born in the country you've chosen to live in. Stefano and I LOVE travelling (we both used to work for the international cooperation, years ago), and we've had our share of what it means to live the best, most luxurious life in the US, but like many Americans we know, who chose to settle in Europe, we have no desire to "live the American dream": we'd miss our small, old house (now super-efficient and green) in our beautiful city, we'd miss our relaxed lifestyle, our 15-minute neighborhood, our vegetable garden, not to mention the family house built by my grandfather, sitting in an enchanting valley on the Alps and surrounded by a garden and fruit trees. I've just discovered your channel and I've already binge-watched most of your videos. Truth be said, I'd love to meet you in person and have a long, nice chat, 'cause I think that we have a lot in common and a similar mindset, even though we were born on opposite sides of the world. I moved from the UK to Bulgaria 5 years ago for pretty much the same reasons. I now have a very relaxed lifestyle and make bespoke oak doors and windows for clients all over the country, I have no regrets and wouldn't change a thing, love watching your progress, and having driven on the old road over the dolomites down to Trento I know that you are living in a spectacular part of the world 😊
I've always believed that just because you are born into a country that doesn't mean it has to be your home. I admire that you took the chance to leave a place you were comfortable with to find another place to live. Kudos to you.

Leaving one‘s own bubble, living in a new environment, learning new languages is a great opportunity to discover one’s own biases, grow compassion and celebrate the beauty of diversity, a prerequisite for experiencing that - beyond all differences - we are all ‚one‘. Most people have biases, living in a new country certainly does NOT "grow compassion", and diversity is meaningless. Btw, Italy is more white and less diverse than the USA.
I couldn't agree with u more @Heinz Gassner! I look for opportunities to learn from other cultures and shop in a Vietnamese or Korean Grocery Store and love the things that make us different. Diversity is simply looking for what's different and then admiring it, exalting it and seeing that others make up this symphony of life; not everyone can be strings or woodwinds, we need a simple tink of a triangle or the boom of a drum - people with all their glorious differences are what make life spectacular vs simple black and white. @@sandybowman7140 Diversity for the sake of diversity, is meaningless. It all comes down to the quality of people one encounters, not JUST that they are different ethnically, tribally. Forced diversity can be quite disastrous.

Yup! We chose to retire very early and move to rural Mexico. We have land, built a house, and live quite safely and peacefully. I have never, not even one, have a person here ask me what I did for a living up in the states. My mom lives here close in her own small house and we are quite content. We planned this for years and are happy with our decision. Choice is awesome! Loving your videos.

@SANDY BOWMAN You can't believe everything you read. Your own experience means much more. There are so many parts of mexico to know. I encourage you to travel there and check it out for yourself. Our village is quite small, around 2000 or so inhabitants but a very large city is 1.5 hours from us for our monthly shopping and there is a nearby town of much larger population for weekly visits. People are very nice and calm as public rudeness or loud voices is frowned upon. The culture is almost opposite the USA on family so you rarely see anyone unhoused, even in the city. Food is great, no national fast food joints in our area and Healthcare is very affordable.

People from other countries can be demonized, but I always know there's a different story to be heard. Most Mexicans are deeply generous, as are Africans, Asians, etc and have standards way above what the US experiences. You talk with people from other countries. They are amazed how some Americans, love to tell you their job title, how much they make, how big a house or what car they drive. I think Finland has the right idea. You drive down a street, can't really tell rich from ok. If anything considered rude to talk about being rich. Here some hang on every word Musk or others say. Because they have wealth, sad.
I moved from USA to Germany ( govt job) for 6yrs. I get it. It was a wonderful adventure. I miss it often. I agree with how easy it is to venture out around you in Europe by train,car or plane. Love the people as well. ❤
Hi guys ! I'm French and have only been following you for a few weeks, trying little by little to catch up on your videos since you bought the house. Lovin every bit of the build, admiring you guy's decision and commitment, loving how the girls are involved in all this ! I can totally relate to the reasons why you moved from the US to Italy since about ten years ago I decided to live my American dream and quickly came back to Ole' Europe. I found life in the US quite challenging to say the least, for various reasons, and quickly missed the "social solidarity" we have in Europe. I don't quite understand the admiration of the "working hard" concept in the US, definitely making good money (kinda) but not having any time to enjoy life in every other aspect of it that isn't related to work. That's a great sociological object of study ! I'm sure moving to the US can be extremely rewarding for one who can focus only on work, but I guess my Mediterranean roots made me not be that way and want to focus on others aspects of my life rather than just work and make money... However, welcome to Europe, hope you'll come to love it more and more and thanks for the awesome videos !!! Kudos to y'all !
Franz Ben, really,you have a funny French name!😉 I'm half German, half American and I've lived part of my life in Germany and in the US. But Europe is so much better for the way I personally want to live. As you said, it would be an interesting social study to compare European countries to the US lifestyle. As far as I'm concerned, even though France has it's own problems, I prefer the more laid back lifestyle here . We've been living in Ariège since 1981 and I have yet to regret it!❤
The hard work culture is functional to government's goals. USA has a very expensive military and basically protect alone Europe,the Pacific , taiwan japan south korea. Feeding this budget needs people working a lot. Plus, a greedy upper class made medical expenses and education out of control-come on how am I supposed to pay 80000 dollars of uni fees a year or 10000 dollars for a broken limb? but the world follow this model - also chinese and japanese so yeah they put in the trash the human side.
@AndreaBorto 80,000 a year? That's as much or more than tuition at like the most expensive and prestigious schools in the country.. or world for that matter. A decent State school in the US where most people will go is about 1/8 that cost. It's all still expensive, but thats beyond hyperbolic.

My husband and I are US citizens but I’m currently becoming a (dual) Italian citizen though my grandparents’ legacy. My husband grew up in Denmark and we plan to one day buy a home in Italy. Meanwhile, you have fans in Calabasas, CA.
I moved to another country, had to learn a different language, felt very strange and afraid for a couple years, but ended up feeling like it was home and I became so comfortable with the culture, that when I did travel home to visit, I felt strange there! Just give it more time, you will soon feel like home. Italians are warm and friendly people! You’ll be just fine!

I love that you speak freely about what your reasons were to leave the US. To leave a country is never easy, it does not matter if you are from the US, from Argentina (my case) or from Africa. It will always be hard. What you know what? It will for sure change you and make better humans out of you! You are making a conscious decision to grow, to live life to the fullest, to invest in you. And to do that, you must be so brave! I think that everyone should leave their country and experience life outside the bubble. Congrats for that!
You are wise moving to Italy America children are not safe in school but I am against the death penalty they allow people to buy guns then they kill them by lethal injections for useing what they allowed people to use

I think that regardless of your reasons for leaving your home country, the view that you get to look out onto every day makes the adventure seem so worth it. I've just turned 70 and like most of my generation spent nearly every waking hour working to provide for and prepare the next generation. It wasn't all just drudgery, every life has it's great moments, and we've had our fair share. But now retired, I wake up in the morning and see nothing more than the house next door, and the house next door to that, etc, etc. My dream was less adventurous, I just wanted to have a cottage by the sea, (sigh) I doubt it's going to happen. But boy I could get used to waking up to that view every morning, Italy looks so beautiful, wow. Enjoy every moment, life flies by and not all our dreams will get to be realized. It looks like a lot of hard work, but it also looks amazingly worth it. 👋🇿🇦

I've moved to the US from Belgium 25 years ago. My brother and sister couldn't understand it... I also LOVED traveling and been all over the developed world. For the most part I've been really happy. I do have to say in the last 5 years it has gotten so lonely and difficult to associate with people. Religion, politics, guns and LGBT issues are being exploited by politicians and they typically target the less sophisticated, which became blatantly obvious Jan 6th. So having seen both sides; I have to say I still prefer the US because of the better financial opportunities (taxes). I retired at 54 and now just day trade equities and bonds. But there's always the worry about the unscrupulous medical system, the constant worry about yet another mentally deranged individual going postal and social media literally ruining young undeveloped brains.
I'm an artist in Tucson and it's so incredible to watch younger people with the type of energy you have to know exactly what to do and at the exact right time I used the holy Spirit to create and it's really interesting to watch others
I spend 1 month a year every 12-18 months in Italy. While it’s not the same as living there full time from my friendships with xpats and my family near Naples I have learned that patience is a great trait learned while there. Italy really exemplifies that you work to live rather than live to work.

My wife and I spent 3 weeks last summer in Italy and understand 100%. The Italian lifestyle and diet is something that more people need to experience. Last summer we even met a family from Holland that was moving to Italy for the same reasons. They just wanted a better life for them and their family.
We lived in Heidelberg Germany for 6 years (20 years ago) and I have struggled living in the US ever since. I'm very envious of your adventure! Good luck with the back injury and great job so far!
I am from Uruguay and lived some time in the US. I totally get it. You explained it well, it is a land of opportunities but you do have to pay a high price for them.
It's healthy to get out and explore the world. Anyone who has done this will fully agree. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to see a great number of countries as an early teen. I also traveled while in the Army and all of those memories are still with me today, in a positive and pleasant way. Getting out of the nest, reaching outside the norm was a great part of shaping my life, my beliefs. The life and home you are building with your daughters is the true gift. That is what I see. You aren’t just building a beautiful home. You are building a STRONG , SOLID family. Do not get discouraged by external factors because Italy is the right choice, in terms of food, relationships and striding to neighbouring countries. Struggling is part of life. For someone that traveled in Europe as a young adult up to my mid 20’s, I honestly wished I had stayed there. The quality of life is so much better in Europe. Medical costs are outrageous here in the US and the divide between the rich and poor is disgusting. There are so many bad things...like this debt crisis we are in now where one party doesn’t care about putting the rest of us in financial ruin, let alone what it does to the rest of the world. No other country gets away with this madness. Kids are in schools and every aspect of life here worrying about crazy people with guns. All I can say is that you are much safer there and you are living a dream life there! You definitely made the right decision! I would come back to Europe in a heartbeat!

It feels very much like pre-1936 WW2 Germany is taking shape in front of our eyes. I haven't felt the same level of safety either. It is definitely getting worse in America. Lawlessness is on the rise. People always had guns from the founding of the country ...but something has changed. I never had a gun through most of my life until I got personally physically attacked. It changes you when that happens ...I had always been against guns ...now I have one for personal protection.

I too have left. Lived in California for almost 30 years. One day I decided to leave everything single thing I knew and had. Once I learned my parents (that are at that age) needed my help, I dropped everything I had going for myself, a good job, a wonderful relationship, friends absolutely everything!! As I've commented to you both in the recent past. When I left the US 5 years ago things started to seem a bit odd. I've lived basically all my life there and know how California and Californians are. I felt like good ol' relaxed and cool California has turned into the high adrenaline rat race, and saw how many began to actually struggle. And politically it IS very divided. And what's worse is I watched from abroad (where I now live now) how the banks "like vultures" took advantage of normal folks like you and I making them homeless, losing jobs, and forced to the streets!! The banks got richer, the government did nothing, and all hell is breaking loose now... So forgive me if I get angry when I hear that billions are being given to other countries, when in fact California, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, and other states are suffering and being forced to live in the streets!! Because of this situation. I do hope you and the girls will be happy, and if you love traveling, where you now live is pretty much perfect! I too have missed the US , especially at Christmas time, and basically everything about it really, the people, the ways, etc... I still hold America close to my ❤️ and always will...

I am feel you entirely! I have been away from Australia for over 8 years now. Almost 5 years in Morocco and in the UK before that. It's been a journeyon so, so many levels. I am finally in the process of selling my little property in the Marrakech Medina and hope to be returning within the next couple of months. Administration, say no more! I will be bringing my cat back with me, which involves a detour through France and / or Belgium, in order to firstly get her to the UK; a listed country for Australian pet import. Yep! I have never been to the US but have been following things closely for years now. Reading between the lines.... I can see elements of what you didn't say popping up in both the UK and Australia, also. I hope that more people will come to experience the sense of achievement and work/life balance that you are now finding and realise that it is possible to live a healthier, more nourishing and fullfilling life on less money by becoming as self sustainable as one can be. We moved to the country, left our corporate jobs and unplugged from all the social media, self aggrandizing culture and pointless phrenetic activity. We farm, garden, live a simple life without TV, social media while dedicating our time to our community. We have so many friends that share our same desire to be in a right relationship with other families. We are homeschooling so our kids can benefit from learning many life and occupational skills. Our kids volunteer, work with others their age participating in community activities and church activities. At times we have to go back to the city. We hate it as people are inconsiderate, rushed and stressed. Our community is free of race and political biases. There are no racial, political or social boundaries. All races, economic and social groups work together because it's our community that matters. The only way this is possible is to value each individual. No it's not a utopia and at times their are issues. When challenges come and they have, our community comes together to ensure safety, security and peace reign.
Your two daughters seem well adjusted. They are curious and confident to take part in any activity and are well rounded children. You two seem open minded toward new cultures and new ideas. Traveling is the best education you can offer a person. I ran toward Italy . The peace I feel here (although there have been adjustment periods) is no comparison to the angst I was living with in Los Angeles. I am a part of something here. I really enjoy that. You two are smart to take this opportunity while the kids are young and allow them to have this amazing childhood. They are already special people because of the experiences. I have thought about moving to Mexico or another country where your money goes much further. However, I could not leave my children. And or possible future grandchildren. So,.. I think people who are able to do that maybe don’t have children or maybe those types who can send their child to a boarding school. Lol

You are working for yourself, working together, individual vs community. US has gone further downhill in the last year for removal of freedoms and subverting the voting system (non elected officials removing freedom and lobbyists buy officials) And more people are leaving. You are not alone.

Hi family ,It’s fantastic what your doing,not only you both ,but especially your children ,the pollution for a start is better, it’s safer ,there’s no need to have guns in the home ,your spending precious time with your girls,while their growing up, your relationship together as a family, will bring you closer, as you have time to breath ! We as a family, moved from the UK to Australia 🇦🇺 in early eighties ,because we wanted a better life for our children,better weather ect ect ! I can so relate. It's true you have to work a lot here (in USA). But we manage to live very simply here, unlike others we know. We don't have a fancy car or house, don't go on fancy vacations and trips, and live in a small town, but we don't have to work all the time either and that suits us just fine. Love your videos.

😂You have made a good decision to do what you are doing. So few don't. They will be slaves to the mighty dollar until they get to where we are now and ask, "well, what was that all about". We live here in Tasmania, in a small home, in a very small village, beside the sea. We were unable to have a family and felt very much outside the box so had to find what made us feel alive and yet be happy to be outside . We travelled alot as much as we could afford. In our 70s now and do not regret our decision. Beautiful walks with our dogs, great gardening, artistic endeavors, yet still close enough to the norm. And we can watch travel adventures to our hearts content. We have time to view, read and dream. Thank you for being honest. Xx

As someone who emigrated to Europe from the US nearly 40 years ago, I feel qualified to give a bit of advice on the issue of homesickness: Attitude and perspective. You've chosen Italy and your property; that is HOME. Stop thinking of the US culture or conveniences as things to be missed or longed for, or as "home". Obviously, keep in touch with family and close friends; but make friends where you are, and when you think of going home, think of your stone barn, not the States. The sooner you can make that mental step, the easier it will be. Make your life where you are; dig into the culture, history, neighbourhood and community and integrate as soon as you can... Also, if you are missing certain comfort foods or items from shopping in the States, try and find alternatives in Italy as soon as you can - that will help with the feeling of "being home"...

USA is now so stressed that we have LOST our way. Work and money - how much is enough? I am an Italian immigrant whose family settled in Canada. You are raising the next generation so it is vital that you lead by example. I envy you, and I think your logic is sound. I can say, you are leaving a toxic country, which is only getting worse, because to fix it would involve too much change, and as you know, people find it difficult to change. I hear you. on the Live to work thing. I am 46 yrs now. and I was layoff of work in 2019 before Covid, and now I am not planning to go back to work now, but am also now Full-time taking care of my 70 yr old parents. they Just past their 50 yrs of marriage. I love being able to care for them and helping out. I don't have much. I have clothes on my back and a bed. I see my parents house bought in 1990 and just paid off Feb 2023. and they have things in the house. that they bought and now is just sitting here in the house. collecting dust. We can't take it with us when we die. I would rather just be able to sit and talk to my family and long-time friends and extended family. than go buy them something that is going to sit on the shelf. Money doesn't make happiness. family and friends do.
Yes i think family first if i could do everything over again i would live in Europe. Italy or Spain. Ive been to both countries several times. But now im 76 moving might not be my best interest now. Im alone and now looking for options for the rest of my life. I love how this family made a big change i wish them the best in their lives. Follow your dreams life is to short.

I am an American living in Sweden and I could not agree more. This move was one of the best things ive done for myself mentally and physically. I had to learn to "relax" at work bc i was still stuck in the US work mentality. My work is always done but just in a more relaxed state. How wonderful for your children to experience life as an adventure.
I've been considering becoming an expat to Italy or Portugal and my biggest anxiety is how I'll have to deprogram from our 'go go go' culture and actually learn how to be human and more than my job title.
Greetings from Scotland! I can sympathise with you guys because my wife and I went through a very similar process. We married at 18yo and went on honeymoon to the Northern Scottish Highlands - and we stayed! Jobs were abundant and houses also! The first year was really hard and we both wanted to give in and go back home. At the end of last April we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary, in Scotland - where we still live, very happily! We are both SO glad we stayed, brought up a family and our children have done the same. Hang on in there guys!

The Brits (but not the Americans) ...thought they were all radicals for wanting independence from the Crown ...but we never thought of the Crown or any of the Commonwealth as conservative either ...we thought of them as colonialists. Ha! ha! ...funny how those terms are viewed so differently in different countries! My Scottish teacher was passionate about reclaiming the Scottish Crown for Scotland alone as well. The small contingent of "republicans" protesting the recent coronation are seen as "radicals" ...but in America a Republican is conservative ...go figure!!

There are some mountain walks on my channel, but that's really it. I spent most of my married life working stupid long hours to just get by. My car takes all the vids now! 😂😂
You have been incredibly brave and healthy moving out of the US!! (I did it in 1982, when I was 24). What you have done is absolutely extraordinary! The 'missing home' is 100% normal. It dissipates after 2 years. Because you are all together, as a family, it should take far less time. It is the greatest gift you could possibly give your children. It WILL all work out! Don't give up. All of this (what you are going through) is perfectly normal. Irons in the fire, getting stronger.

I agree. I'm still in the USA but I moved away from the big city and left everything behind. No regrets at all. I now live a simple life and I'm embracing opportunities of meeting new people and discovering new places and new ways of doing things. I have never liked following trends. And I don't have any desire of going back to the city not even for visits.

@@maximac222 My son was in the Navy stationed at Pearl Harbor for seven years. He surfs and it’s his home. He was tired of worrying about me and the CA wildfires. Plus CA isn’t what it used to be. I would never raise children there. Even though my son and I are both native San Diegan’s, we lived there when it was a great place to live. Not anymore…

Hawaii is insanely expensive now. Friends moved there back in the 70’s with vacation homes, now many live there permanently and have expanded their vacation homes to huge multimillion dollar full time homes.
@@ccsocal768 I owned a home in California for years and it’s no more expensive than living there. It’s a better place to live out my old age though. I feel bad for renters in Hawaii though, there’s a housing shortage and it is actually easier and cheaper to buy here than it is to get a rental.
We really enjoyed your reasons. We have enjoyed all your videos. We moved to Italy from America almost five years ago. When we get asked why, we always say that we weren't running away from America, but rather, running to Italy. It is such a wonderful country, filled with wonderful people.

8-9 months is hard to no return home..especially where children are involved...

Most important is healing the wounds of those who have been colonised and how we are all left when healing is not provided and allowed for...
We carry on with culture which is not natural to the nature of the person, all of life or places of nature.

What a well-done video! My Husband and I moved from the U.S. and will have been living on the Sun Coast of Spain for three years this November. You nailed it on every point. The vibe here is so much more relaxed and people love living a healthier, closer to nature lifestyle! Meals and socializing are for the most part outdoors...there is always a Fiesta or celebration somewhere to be a part of!!! Great point made about easy and inexpensive travel as well. We are no longer in the "bubble" and have a whole new perspective and appreciation for new possibilities! 🥰
Thank you for sharing. We live off grid in interior Alaska. We are building a place out of pocket and living below our means as a way to simplify our life. Too many people are caught up in the rat race of life and the desire to have stuff. My husband used to be like you working 60+ hours a week and I was an at home mom. We are now working just as many hours BUT we are together, talking, laughing and enjoying each other. I am happy for you to be able to do this adventure while your children are young. They will have incredible memories and skills that most people do not. Thank you for sharing your life with the world.

I'm an expat Australian living in Mexico. We built our house and grew a permaculture garden. Getting residency in any country is tricky and many countries don't let you leave during the process or if leaving is allowed, the time restraints are so short, like two weeks in my case, that travelling home was economically impossible. Your house setting is spectacular and the lifestyle extremely valuable. I'd love to live somewhere so beautiful. My husband and I dedicated alot of our time bringing our children up to be Australian as well as Mexican... for example I encouraged reading books in English, playing musical instruments, cooking, gardening, sewing, minding animals (activities rather strange in this part of the world) and my husband brought up our children up to be Mexican which meant building, fixing cars, soldering, electrical work, repurposing junk, making the most of a low income. It's rather hard being between two cultures. I hope you make some close friends. I've found the social aspect rather difficult especially now that my kids have grown up , not going to school and are living in other countries. Some of my friends moved away from this city. Family is not only a social identity but it gives links to other social groups. When there is no extended family, one has to work to be accepted.... I didn't work enough in this area. I vividly remember, when I was in the tiny villages in the northern Italian alps, how it felt like time was slower there. It was captivating. There was a shepherd on the hillside with his goats, just like in the movie, Heidi. It was incredible.
I agree with you. I worked minimum 80 hours a week for 40 years in Los Angeles. My work was my life, my family, my hobby, everything. I didnt even have time to take my dog for a walk. I had to hire dog walkers. I also do not want to live in the environment that America has become. It is angry, negative, hateful and fearful. Children being killed in their schools is not what I want to say defines my country. I felt a deep dark hole in my sole in the US. I began looking for a different life. I found it in Central Italy in the Majella mountains. I bought a small home, live in a tiny village, I can get anywhere by train or bus. I really love the live and work dynamic in Italy. The people here are more in tune with the big picture and what is good for all rather than me me me. Your children seem well adjusted and thriving. They will be able to open their hearts to their dreams. I wish you the best in Italy.

I can definitely relate. I moved to Chile for 7 years and once my grandkids were born, I couldn’t stay away, the struggle to stay or to move back was hard, I didn’t want to miss watching my grandkids grow and at the same time I also wanted to stay, because the quality of life was much better there and we had established relationships and a peaceful lifestyle. Now, that we are back, I hardly see my grandkids, because I live 2 hours away from where they are and they have their life. This makes it even harder because I have the impulse to want to look for a better place to live. My husband fell sick from the stress of work and the fast pace that we live in here in the US. So, I totally can understand and relate. I continue to struggle with moving away again. Stay strong, I am sure God has you there for a purpose. ❤

I can relate I have grown kids w/children who live/lived lives in one of the Service Branches, so they moved all the time and so for away I physically got to see them maybe every 4 years. They have settled now but still to far for regular travel and flights indeed are so expensive when on a set low budget. Thank God for giving us cell phones so we can talk daily and weekly and video chats. But it is indeed not the close knit family scenario I had hoped for!

You are right, the only problem is that they now live on the revenues from UA-cam so they have to be careful and refrain from speaking about politics or religion. I will turn 60 this summer. When I was a kid in the 1970's, people were getting their Licensed Vocational Nurse degree and certification at the local community college, the state picked up the tab for tuition and books because they saw it as a good investment.
Flash forward to now, I worked last year in a restaurant. I got to know a server, a young woman who was really sharp and astute. She was turning 21 and she lived with her mom to save not paying rent. She always told us that she scrimped and saved everything, every spare dime went to tuition because she was trying to avoid taking out student loans. She finally got accepted into our local community college licensed vocational nurse program.
She looks at me, with a straight face, and tells me that she is "Only 6K in student loan debt". I said, "How on earth is it that you have only gone to community college, that you JUST NOW got accepted into the vocational licensed nurse program, yet you had to borrow 6K to make it this far????". She replied that most of her friends owed so much more. I thought, 21 years old and already owes 6K, what is going to happen one day when she wants to get married and have kids? WHY are we saddling our young adults, our CAPABLE young adults who want to become nurses, with so much debt? How is this helpful to our country and our future?

We are a couple in our 50's and totally understand the terrible work/life balance here in the states. Also, the expensive healthcare. We recently purchased a home in Sicily for less than you purchase a vehicle here in the US. At the first opportunity, we will be moving as well. I grew up in a similar way, sort of - my parents moved from New Zealand to South East Asia with me and my two younger sisters when I was ten years old. Certainly it was difficult at times but the places we got to travel to were absolutely incredible and the perspective it’s given me as an adult into different cultures and points of view has definitely made me a better person, and I’m sure your daughters will feel the same as they get older.

My boyfriend and I have been working with Americans and Canadians for several years. Last summer we went to LA to edit a movie and a documentary, and we lived for quite a long time in a huge mansion in Beverly Hills that had been "lent" to us by an old friend of our producer. We are both Italian, and we are about to finish renovating an old house we bought in Florence; we did most of the heavy lifting (including hurting our backs while digging dirt and boulders from underneath the whole house to insulate the floor from humidity, emptying a basement full of debris, and well... old poop, exactly like you did), then we hired some companies to do the things we weren't allowed to do ourselves.
You know what? I totally get it. Our circumstances kind of "mirror" yours, since we were born in the country you've chosen to live in. Stefano and I LOVE travelling (we both used to work for the international cooperation, years ago), and we've had our share of what it means to live the best, most luxurious life in the US, but like many Americans we know, who chose to settle in Europe, we have no desire to "live the American dream": we'd miss our small, old house (now super-efficient and green) in our beautiful city, we'd miss our relaxed lifestyle, our 15-minute neighborhood, our vegetable garden, not to mention the family house built by my grandfather, sitting in an enchanting valley on the Alps and surrounded by a garden and fruit trees.
I've just discovered your channel and I've already binge-watched most of your videos. Truth be said, I'd love to meet you in person and have a long, nice chat, 'cause I think that we have a lot in common and a similar mindset, even though we were born on opposite sides of the world. Most people have biases, living in a new country certainly does NOT "grow compassion", and diversity is meaningless. Btw, Italy is more white and less diverse than the USA.

Diversity is simply looking for what's different and then admiring it, exalting it and seeing that others make up this symphony of life; not everyone can be strings or woodwinds, we need a simple tink of a triangle or the boom of a drum - people with all their glorious differences are what make life spectacular vs simple black and white. Yup! We chose to retire very early and move to rural Mexico. We have land, built a house, and live quite safely and peacefully. I have never, not even one, have a person here ask me what I did for a living up in the states. My mom lives here close in her own small house and we are quite content. We planned this for years and are happy with our decision. Choice is awesome! Loving your videos.

@SANDY BOWMAN You can't believe everything you read. Your own experience means much more. There are so many parts of mexico to know. I encourage you to travel there and check it out for yourself. Our village is quite small, around 2000 or so inhabitants but a very large city is 1.5 hours from us for our monthly shopping and there is a nearby town of much larger population for weekly visits. People are very nice and calm as public rudeness or loud voices is frowned upon. The culture is almost opposite the USA on family so you rarely see anyone unhoused, even in the city. Food is great, no national fast food joints in our area and Healthcare is very affordable.

People from other countries can be demonized, but I always know there's a different story to be heard. Most Mexicans are deeply generous, as are Africans, Asians, etc and have standards way above what the US experiences. You talk with people from other countries. They are amazed how some Americans, love to tell you their job title, how much they make, how big a house or what car they drive. I think Finland has the right idea. You drive down a street, can't really tell rich from ok. If anything considered rude to talk about being rich. Here some hang on every word Musk or others say. Because they have wealth, sad.

I can totally relate to the reasons why you moved from the US to Italy since about ten years ago I decided to live my American dream and quickly came back to Ole' Europe. I found life in the US quite challenging to say the least, for various reasons, and quickly missed the "social solidarity" we have in Europe. I don't quite understand the admiration of the "working hard" concept in the US, definitely making good money (kinda) but not having any time to enjoy life in every other aspect of it that isn't related to work. That's a great sociological object of study ! I'm sure moving to the US can be extremely rewarding for one who can focus only on work, but I guess my Mediterranean roots made me not be that way and want to focus on others aspects of my life rather than just work and make money...
However, welcome to Europe, hope you'll come to love it more and more and thanks for the awesome videos !!! Kudos to y'all !

I'm half German, half American and I've lived part of my life in Germany and in the US. But Europe is so much better for the way I personally want to live. As you said, it would be an interesting social study to compare European countries to the US lifestyle. As far as I'm concerned, even though France has it's own problems, I prefer the more laid back lifestyle here . We've been living in Ariège since 1981 and I have yet to regret it!❤
The hard work culture is functional to government's goals. USA has a very expensive military and basically protect alone Europe,the Pacific , taiwan japan south korea. Feeding this budget needs people working a lot. Plus, a greedy upper class made medical expenses and education out of control-come on how am I supposed to pay 80000 dollars of uni fees a year or 10000 dollars for a broken limb? but the world follow this model - also chinese and japanese so yeah they put in the trash the human side.
@AndreaBorto 80,000 a year? That's as much or more than tuition at like the most expensive and prestigious schools in the country.. or world for that matter. A decent State school in the US where most people will go is about 1/8 that cost. It's all still expensive, but thats beyond hyperbolic.

I moved to another country, had to learn a different language, felt very strange and afraid for a couple years, but ended up feeling like it was home and I became so comfortable with the culture, that when I did travel home to visit, I felt strange there! Just give it more time, you will soon feel like home. Italians are warm and friendly people! You’ll be just fine!

I love that you speak freely about what your reasons were to leave the US. To leave a country is never easy, it does not matter if you are from the US, from Argentina (my case) or from Africa. It will always be hard. What you know what? It will for sure change you and make better humans out of you! You are making a conscious decision to grow, to live life to the fullest, to invest in you. And to do that, you must be so brave! I think that everyone should leave their country and experience life outside the bubble. Congrats for that!

I think that regardless of your reasons for leaving your home country, the view that you get to look out onto every day makes the adventure seem so worth it. I've just turned 70 and like most of my generation spent nearly every waking hour working to provide for and prepare the next generation. It wasn't all just drudgery, every life has it's great moments, and we've had our fair share. But now retired, I wake up in the morning and see nothing more than the house next door, and the house next door to that, etc, etc. My dream was less adventurous, I just wanted to have a cottage by the sea, (sigh) I doubt it's going to happen. But boy I could get used to waking up to that view every morning, Italy looks so beautiful, wow. Enjoy every moment, life flies by and not all our dreams will get to be realized. It looks like a lot of hard work, but it also looks amazingly worth it. 👋🇿🇦

I've moved to the US from Belgium 25 years ago. My brother and sister couldn't understand it...
I also LOVED traveling and been all over the developed world.
For the most part I've been really happy. I do have to say in the last 5 years it has gotten so lonely and difficult to associate with people.
Religion, politics, guns and LGBT issues are being exploited by politicians and they typically target the less sophisticated, which became blatantly obvious Jan 6th.
So having seen both sides; I have to say I still prefer the US because of the better financial opportunities (taxes).
I retired at 54 and now just day trade equities and bonds.
But there's always the worry about the unscrupulous medical system, the constant worry about yet another mentally deranged individual going postal and social media literally ruining young undeveloped brains.
I'm an artist in Tucson and it's so incredible to watch younger people with the type of energy you have to know exactly what to do and at the exact right time I used the holy Spirit to create and it's really interesting to watch others
I spend 1 month a year every 12-18 months in Italy. While it’s not the same as living there full time from my friendships with xpats and my family near Naples I have learned that patience is a great trait learned while there. Italy really exemplifies that you work to live rather than live to work.

My wife and I spent 3 weeks last summer in Italy and understand 100%. The Italian lifestyle and diet is something that more people need to experience. Last summer we even met a family from Holland that was moving to Italy for the same reasons. They just wanted a better life for them and their family.

I am from Uruguay and lived some time in the US. I totally get it. You explained it well, it is a land of opportunities but you do have to pay a high price for them.
It's healthy to get out and explore the world. Anyone who has done this will fully agree. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to see a great number of countries as an early teen. I also traveled while in the Army and all of those memories are still with me today, in a positive and pleasant way. Getting out of the nest, reaching outside the norm was a great part of shaping my life, my beliefs. For someone that traveled in Europe as a young adult up to my mid 20’s, I honestly wished I had stayed there. The quality of life is so much better in Europe. Medical costs are outrageous here in the US and the divide between the rich and poor is disgusting. There are so many bad things...like this debt crisis we are in now where one party doesn’t care about putting the rest of us in financial ruin, let alone what it does to the rest of the world. No other country gets away with this madness. Kids are in schools and every aspect of life here worrying about crazy people with guns.
All I can say is that you are much safer there and you are living a dream life there! You definitely made the right decision! I would come back to Europe in a heartbeat!
@Audrianna B I completely empathize with the feelings u shared, it doesn't feel like the same place since social media exploded and turned people ugly. YT is the only platform I interact & post. It feels very much like pre-1936 WW2 Germany is taking shape in front of our eyes. I haven't felt the same level of safety either. It is definitely getting worse in America. Lawlessness is on the rise. People always had guns from the founding of the country ...but something has changed. I never had a gun through most of my life until I got personally physically attacked. It changes you when that happens ...I had always been against guns ...now I have one for personal protection.

I understand your comments and hope you are very very happy there. It is a wonderful opportunity to have your kids see the world while they are young. You complain about working in the US but I have never seen two people work so hard in my whole life as you two. I hope your workload gets better and your life fulfills your dreams. But I know I couldn’t leave my family and friends. They are just too precious to me.
It’s very touching watching you guys talking about how you consider relationships is more important than your own identity/work. Not many people would think this way in my country, especially when high dedication to work is considered being equal to good work ethics. There are so many family issues running in my society because of long working hours. So much was sacrificed but not many people seem to have the courage to reset their priorities. I too have left. Lived in California for almost 30 years. One day I decided to leave everything single thing I knew and had. Once I learned my parents (that are at that age) needed my help, I dropped everything I had going for myself, a good job, a wonderful relationship, friends absolutely everything!! As I've commented to you both in the recent past.
When I left the US 5 years ago things started to seem a bit odd. I've lived basically all my life there and know how California and Californians are.
I felt like good ol' relaxed and cool California has turned into the high adrenaline rat race, and saw how many began to actually struggle. And politically it IS very divided. And what's worse is I watched from abroad (where I now live now) how the banks "like vultures" took advantage of normal folks like you and I making them homeless, losing jobs, and forced to the streets!! The banks got richer, the government did nothing, and all hell is breaking loose now...
So forgive me if I get angry when I hear that billions are being given to other countries, when in fact California, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, and other states are suffering and being forced to live in the streets!! Because of this situation.
I do hope you and the girls will be happy, and if you love traveling, where you now live is pretty much perfect!
I too have missed the US , especially at Christmas time, and basically everything about it really, the people, the ways, etc... I still hold America close to my ❤️ and always will...

I am feel you entirely! I have been away from Australia for over 8 years now. Almost 5 years in Morocco and in the UK before that. It's been a journeyon so, so many levels. I am finally in the process of selling my little property in the Marrakech Medina and hope to be returning within the next couple of months. Administration, say no more! I will be bringing my cat back with me, which involves a detour through France and / or Belgium, in order to firstly get her to the UK; a listed country for Australian pet import. Yep!
I have never been to the US but have been following things closely for years now. Reading between the lines.... I can see elements of what you didn't say popping up in both the UK and Australia, also.
I hope that more people will come to experience the sense of achievement and work/life balance that you are now finding and realise that it is possible to live a healthier, more nourishing and fullfilling life on less money by becoming as self sustainable as one can be.

We moved to the country, left our corporate jobs and unplugged from all the social media, self aggrandizing culture and pointless phrenetic activity. We farm, garden, live a simple life without TV, social media while dedicating our time to our community. We have so many friends that share our same desire to be in a right relationship with other families. We are homeschooling so our kids can benefit from learning many life and occupational skills. Our kids volunteer, work with others their age participating in community activities and church activities. At times we have to go back to the city. We hate it as people are inconsiderate, rushed and stressed. Our community is free of race and political biases. There are no racial, political or social boundaries. All races, economic and social groups work together because it's our community that matters. The only way this is possible is to value each individual. No it's not a utopia and at times their are issues. When challenges come and they have, our community comes together to ensure safety, security and peace reign.

Your two daughters seem well adjusted. They are curious and confident to take part in any activity and are well rounded children. You two seem open minded toward new cultures and new ideas. Traveling is the best education you can offer a person. I ran toward Italy . The peace I feel here (although there have been adjustment periods) is no comparison to the angst I was living with in Los Angeles. I am a part of something here. I really enjoy that. You two are smart to take this opportunity while the kids are young and allow them to have this amazing childhood. They are already special people because of the experiences. They seem extremely happy kids. Thanks for sharing your journey. I totally agree with you. If I were younger (I'm 78) I would do the same. When I was younger there were lots of things that were not what people did. It was a different world. Now there are so many awesome alternatives. I am happy for you and your house is beautiful.

I have thought about moving to Mexico or another country where your money goes much further. However, I could not leave my children. And or possible future grandchildren. So,.. I think people who are able to do that maybe don’t have children or maybe those types who can send their child to a boarding school. Lol

You are working for yourself, working together, individual vs community. US has gone further downhill in the last year for removal of freedoms and subverting the voting system (non elected officials removing freedom and lobbyists buy officials) And more people are leaving. You are not alone.

Hi family ,It’s fantastic what your doing,not only you both ,but especially your children ,the pollution for a start is better, it’s safer ,there’s no need to have guns in the home ,your spending precious time with your girls,while their growing up, your relationship together as a family, will bring you closer, as you have time to breath !
We as a family, moved from the UK to Australia 🇦🇺 in early eighties ,because we wanted a better life for our children,better weather ect ect ! It’s tough at the beginning, leaving your relatives behind, but if your happier, that’s the most important thing ,at the end of the day !

I can so relate. It's true you have to work a lot here (in USA). But we manage to live very simply here, unlike others we know. We don't have a fancy car or house, don't go on fancy vacations and trips, and live in a small town, but we don't have to work all the time either and that suits us just fine. Love your videos.
