I read that they had to really fight with Disney CEOs to design a female character with muscles and frankly I'm so glad they managed. She's perfect the way she is
Not only does their personalities dictate their powers, but their powers dictate how they sing.
Pepa:
Personality: Her extreme moods can change the room’s atmosphere.
Power: Weather tied to her mood.
Singing: Got to stay happy and up, or else I’ll storm again.
Dolores:
Personality: the town gossip.
Power: sensitive hearing.
Singing: stays quiet and low, so she doesn’t hurt her own ears. _Also, you can see her echolocation with Bruno inside the walls._
Camilo:
Personality: Imitation comedian.
Power: Shapeshifting
Singing: super expressive, more acting than vocal range.
Isabela:
Personality: Perfect firstborn daughter.
Power: pristine plants.
Singing: Sticcato and perfect, more vocal range.
Isabella's style of singing then changes a bit when she explores her powers and personality more ☺️
Luisa! She sings deep or Alto to match her gruff and strong outer layer but she can sing higher to demonstrate her inner softie and emotional side.
All of these states them perfectly ☝

Yeah, Luisa's the middle sister/daughter actually but I can't blame you for thinking so because Surface Pressure usually gives us the impression she's the oldest.

I know, I thought the same; when I heard that Isabela is 23 and Luisa is 19 I was gone smacked.
@@Okk681 I think it was the old-fashioned “marry off the eldest child to expand the family” and it made sense for that role to go to the “perfect” child.
It’s the “give it to your sister and never wonder, if the same pressure would’ve pulled you under” for me💔💔

Of the 2 songs I definitely love Surface pressure more. My 4 year old sings surface pressure, my 1 year old only knows the “no, no, no” part of we don’t talk about Bruno. This movie is on repeat in our house.
I know Matt on the left said he didn’t see encanto but who else was irritated when Matt on the right kept telling plot points about the movie from the songs to Matt on the left
Apparently Disney commissioned TONNES of Isabella(flower sister) toys because they thought she would be the most popular character apart from the main character. Then everyone wanted Luisa(Surface pressure) toys

Edit: I knew I saw Bruno dancing in the background of We Don't Talk About Bruno during Dolores' verse but he starts out downstairs coming from the kitchen
Also they had that song choreographed by Latino dancers and the combined voices at the end is called a Madrigal
Then with Surface Pressure, Lin-Manuel wrote that for his older sister. He talked about one Christmas where their parents woke her up early to build his He-Man playset so he'd have it to play with when he woke up. Jessica also did a jazz version and it's on youtube

@@J1ntu You see, really we Latinos, have been very frowned upon because of our problems, usually of foreign people, when the term Latinx came, it was a blow, especially because as such I do not create a Latino person, causing us to look upset, we endured for years denigrations and now someone comes from another country wanting to change our terms? It would be appreciated if it were something to improve the economy or security, but no, in addition, it is said Latino for the same,latinoamerica. After all, it's forgiven I assume they didn't know, but other people use it more to make fun of it.
i love this movie, my daughter who just turned 7 yesterday loves this movie, she watched it before me with her class, and one night in bed i decided to watch it myself and i loved it. we don't talk about Bruno is my 1st favorite song, and then my 2nd is Surface Pressure. Dolores the one who can hear things i like her part in the song we don't talk about Bruno, and then i love Camilo's part where he has the power to change into other people, i like his part the best, he's one of my favorite characters. one of the best modern Disney movies today, and that's coming from someone who grew up with classic Disney movies back in the 90' which are STILL the best ones.
actually Luisa is the second oldest among the sisters
Mirabel, the main character, has two sisters and three oousins. Isabela (girl with the flowers) is the oldest sister, Luisa (super-strong one) is the second sister. Dolores (hears everything) is a cousin, so is Camilo (shapeshifting kid). And then there's little Antonio, the last cousin, whom you don't see in the Bruno song.
Now We Don't Talk About Bruno it's N°1 on Billboard HOT 100 chart and Surface Pressure it's N°9

Hey now, not to take away anything from Encanto (which made me cry for days) or Lin (who is one of my favorite people on the planet), but Disney has had some deep, soul searching songs in the past.

I'm a bit late there and I don't know if you read comments but Diane Guerrero (Isabela's voice actress) said that "she knows that Isabela (the flower girl) is gay" and she wants Encanto 2 (if there's ever Encanto 2) to explore it.

Actually the ages go Dolores, Isabela, Luisa, Camilo, Mirabel, Antonio. Dolores and Isabela are both 21, tho Dolores is older, and Camilo and Mirabel are both 15, but Camilo's a little older. ....not that it matters, I just like knowing.

the family tree is pretty confusing. isabela, luisa, and mirabel are sisters (the daughters of Julieta). camilo, dolores, and antonio are the children of pepa. isabela is the oldest, luisa is the middle, and mirabel is the youngest. out of pepa’s children, dolores is the oldest, camilo is the middle, and obviously antonio is the youngest :)

Surface Pressure was better written and had more intricate musical moments. It is by far the more superior song but of course Disney would push We Don't Talk About Bruno rather than a song with an actual message.
