The reason why people keep bashing Ken is because he refuses to admit what was proven, that he was lip syncing the higher notes during his recent concert. Because he refuses to admit it, people have found other things to criticize him about, such as also lip syncing during his UA-cam videos, deleting every negative comment on his videos, and there is also proof that he has paid to increase the number of subscribers to his channel. If he had just admitted that he was lip syncing parts of the concert, then the attacks would most likely have stopped.
But Ken doesn't want to admit it because his motto is "The proof is in the singing," so he can't admit it without looking like a huge hypocrite. It seems pretty obvious that his singing style puts a lot of strain on his vocal chords and he can't reach those high notes consistently, especially during a full concert. I'm sure that his singing during his videos has been recorded in different parts because he can't reach all of those high notes during a single take. Perhaps he was able to do that 30 years ago, but not anymore. By the way, the guy on the right was wearing a nice shirt.

Pretty sweet habs shirt right… I have not been a following KT closely enough to know about the live stuff he does…..I realize guys like steve Perry will never be running tape but perhaps tampdog does…..it’ll be interesting to see how he addresses it because there seems to be a growing movement on UA-cam calling him out!

@@lancewendlandt3384 The Wings of Pegasus channel already proved that he was lip syncing the higher notes during his recent concert and that he lip syncs in his UA-cam videos. I don't expect Ken to change his tune (pun intended) regarding his denials, unless his business gets so badly affected by this that he has no choice but to take a different approach.

Canadians! Montreal, I think what you are saying makes a lot of sense. Most people (me), prefer a more humble approach. If you need to run tape of use Melodyne, then own up to it. I can say we definitely do, and if you listed to the song I posted in the description, that is lip synched (poorly )and we use Melodyne.

You guys have to be honest about this if you want your channel here to have integrity. The bashing of Tamplin did not start with the Wings of Pegasus vocal analysis. It started with the abject dishonesty that Tamplin displayed in his reaction to this objective analysis.

Ken faked (vocal AND guitar), lied about it, then assassinated Fils' character and ethics trying to deny it. Fil is ethical; Ken is unethical. Fil didn't pass judgement on Ken, he simply showed what he did, what he was asked to analyze and said "I wouldn't do that". Nothing anyone says can change that. Ken caused his own controversy, and his defensiveness in the face of simple, honest fact is pathetic, which I would say even if I liked him as a performer. This whole saga was disgraceful to begin with, starting with Ken, who just kept making it worse. Really distasteful and sickening. Sad that you guys are doing it too.

The issue is that artists should be upfront about the fact that they are using technology to improve their vocals, not using the training that he sells.

Ken doesn't naturally sing at a higher pitch. He repeatedly states that in his course (I'm one of his students). Lip singing higher notes is a great way to protect his voice if he's doing that. I have seen great progress in my voice while learning from him and I'll continue to support him. At least he hasn't actually harmed anyone and is a wonderful person.

Condolences on wasting your $ on the Tamplin stuff. :) I like Eli, though. Good guy. Tamplin... not so much. Groping his students and confusing them and misguiding them and taking advantage of them for views and I could go on but there's nothing you could present as any defense for any of that. Oh, did I mention miming for decades in front of live audiences and in all his YT covers? yeah, there's that. He's just a disingenuous, arrogant, narcissist, scammer. Now back to the defense....

Contrary to popular belief, the voice should not lose range/power with age. If you are singing with healthy vocal technique, there is no reason your voice should deteriorate. It may change as collagen builds up and alters your physiology, but vocal damage/strain is what leads to difficulty. The fact that he has to lip synch at all while healthy proves he knows jack shit. Some people are born with more access to the CT muscles so they can get really high pitched, powerful screams. Without proper technique though, our natural biological instinct to close up our throats/strain will inevitably cause nodules and other issues. If you really want to learn proper vocal pedagogy, look into opera singers. They have to cut through classical operas without a mic for hours sometimes. It’s possible to sustain your voice if you do it properly.

I don’t really think KT is doing his studio covers in one take. He either lip syncs to pre-recorded studio tracks of his own voice in which multiple takes were done, or he does try and sing it while the video recorder is rolling, but uses switching of camera angles to make the jump cuts less obvious, AND he likely does lots of audio punch-ins afterward to fix mistakes, and redo the high parts, etc. I don’t think he is any “one take wonder”.

There is nothing wrong with saying that "as I age I have to rely on technology to provide a couple of the things that I used to do easily in my youth". Honest individuals will give you far more fan points for your honesty than you will lose to cretins who think that you are less of a performer because of the natural progression of the aging process. There is much wrong with lying about it and saying that the video did not contain vocal content that was taken from older recordings. It makes you appear dishonest. Magicians are not criticized for dishonesty because we agree to suspend our expectations of honesty and a lot of the fun of watching magic is trying to spot the dishonesty.. Musicians are not expected to be dishonest because if detecting the fakery becomes part of the experience, it seriously detracts from immersing yourself in the music.. There are times when it is reasonable for technological assists to be used (such as an aging vocalist or a massive concert extravaganza involving continuous physical exertion, etc.), and when used it is important to be up front about it. Everyone can relax and get on with enjoying the music.

@@lancewendlandt3384 So, how do you feel about the REAL issue at hand? Which is to say the current music industry standard operating procedure of retroactively and/or posthumously destroying the voices of singers we have loved and connected with for decades when their albums are re-released or officially uploaded anew to UA-cam and other digital platforms and streaming services by applying pitch "correction" and/or autotuning to their beautiful natural voices?
