    One thing I'd add is a suggestion for saving the liquid that is run off from washing it out. Put that fine stuff in your watering pail the next time you water plants and it changes the soil slowly to terra preta. And all of those surfaces in there store fertilizer for the plants.

    • @OnyxFoodHill
      @OnyxFoodHill  2 роки тому +17

      Awww, thanks for the suggestion, I will have to try that, it is really hard to fine black soil where I am. It's helpful 👍👍

      @@OnyxFoodHill good potent black soil can be found in the gutters out in front of your house. When you need it now you can use a lawnmower and mulch a bunch of old leaves. Only use leaves or brush that is dark Grey or black and stuff that has been compacted together like paper that has been wet, stacked and redried. If you've ever walked in the woods and kicked the top layer of loose leaves aside you will see a darker layer much like I described above. That stuff is the best. Yes the type of trees can matter but you get the idea

    This method is nice. Hands down. It should also be noted that activated charcoal can be used to filter chemicals and heavy metals from water. Activated charcoal is what the company "Berkey" uses in their water filters and they are, in my opinion, the best water filtering company out there. How to make activated charcoal is an excellent survival tool. Great video. I took notes. Thank you.

    *Best to bake in an oven with a little CO2 gas pumped into the oven to a cidify the wet carbon (CARBONIC ACID). I mix the Carbon with crushed ice and soda water and let sit an hour then heat to 255 F. for 45 minutes in CO2 atmosphere. After heating the CO2 gas is gone (Must do out doors!). This makes a type of activated carbon 1000X more powerful and good enough for gas masks!*

    You just made regular charcoal powder. You need a stronger acid than lemon juice (such as Calcium Chloride) to lower the activation temperatures from 600C-1200C to 450-900C, those temperatures are only achieved through a stovetop on high heat not an oven which'll only reach 240C.
