My God man you have made this so simple, I’ve looked inside my console to see what was there and had no idea about a busbar, it all clear now, thanks so much
I understand that this video probably seemed very rudimentary to a lot of folks, but I'm a real electrical dunce!!🤣 Thank you for explaining this system in a way that even I could comprehend it!😃
Great easy to follow video I tried to wire up one of these light switch panels and spent 4 hours trying to get it too work with no buzz bar and a neg feed from battery. Nearly drove me nuts trying to sort out the mess of wires. Wish I’d seen this sooner. Thank you
Thank you for making this make sense. I am a visual learner and you have knocked it out of the park. You have helped give me ideas on how I am going to wire accessories up on my boat.
Great video. Any chance you can do a video on hooking up a switch panel to a Progressive Dynamic converter panel. I have both and just need a push on exact hook up.
Great video., can you tell me if 1.5mm sq cable is heavy enough to power the panal. All I will have coming of it will be a few low watt spotlights,a tab and low wall reading lights..
Thanks Mark. This helped a lot but I have been on a steep learning curve for the past week and even though I have learned loads. I still struggle with wire sizes. EG i would like to add in a positive busbar to my system to eliminate lots of wires but a busbar like you have wont work will it because the terminals are too small and maybe the busbar is not rated high enough? I want to put my solar panel wires and my inverter wires to a bus bar but the wires and lugs are huge!! Any advice Please?
Thank you 🙏 very well explained I have two of these installed in my campervan but still haven’t connected anything to the switches as wasent sure how to do this. Thank you 😊
Sorry if this is a silly question but in other videos they have added a blade fuse box where each device is connected that has a separate fuse. Do you not need that in your set up or can you have both?
If you wanted multiple lights connected that had there own switch would you then use a positive bus bar to connect the multiple posssative connections allowing you to power on and off the current
Great video! Thanks for the help! Does the USB socket have its own fuse attached to it also? From what I could see the fuses were only attached to the switches. Cheers !
I have a stupid question, yet a question that has been bugging me for weeks nonetheless: If you have a negative buss-bar with all of your negatives hooked up, including your negative from your battery, does the buss-bar need to have a direct line to the chassis for a ground? Or is there a ground running from the battery itself to the chassis? Thank you in advance
hello! i have the same switch panel for the van conversion. I would like to connect to the panel lights, water pump, turbovent fan and maybe a compressor fridge. Maybe all together would reach around 13ah, do I have to change the cables of the panel? (because 1,5mm is very little) or maybe is better to connect the fridge apart? thank you very much
Hi mate, any reason why earth to busbar and not the positive? Also.. if from the switch panel U have 4 lights.. do you need to add up the amperage to make sure the busbar can handle the total load? Not sure if this is a thing.. Thanks
Very well explained Mark. I can understand basic circuits but have to draw a diagram to reassure myself. Have you got a link for the box of connectors please? Cheers. Nigel
I'm a bit new to all this stuff for rvs and little by little I'm trying to upgrade my old rv electrical including with solar on a budget. my main current is I'm hoping I can clean up te wires at the battery. can I run a buss bar bur and both positive and negative side of the battery The battery current has all charging sources including a 12 volt fuse box that has all hots and all grounds which I'm lost because all the grounds are not connected at the fuse box however it has a negative main lead that's currently getting power I think form an older bus bar that has several negative leads going to i don't know where at the moment. Originally, i was only going to run a thicker ground between the fuse box to the bus bar thing as I hadn't figured out the negative wire run form the battery to that bus bar. Im bow wondering if I should remove that bus bar negative and should run it directly to the fuse box negatives and rund the main negative directly to the battery. on the battery side if the wires I was planing to add a second bus bar from the 12 volt fuse box on both positive and negatives with the alternator, battery, generator, and soalr panel controller. not surr if you follow my writing as I suck at 😂
Do you have a link for that bus bar and switch panel? Trying to hook up stuff on my boat all I find does not have fuses on switch panel and bus bars look different.
Could you do this with a power inverter as well? for example I have 125V Shore power connector in my vehicle, but i need 12v to power the lights and water pump, can i use a power inverter and connect my power wire to the power wire on the inverter and the buss bar all the grounds?
Why does each individual switch have a fuse? Wouldn’t it be easier to hook up a fuse box to the battery and run the switches between the load and the fuse box?
So when I go to buy “one of these little clips” there is no such thing. And that crimp tool, again no name. And again;”I’m going to use another of these little-these are quite handy….” What? But really great presentation and thank you despite my minor complaints. Subscribed.

I got this correct, don’t I? A y help greatly appreciated
The only thing i dont like about these switch panels is that all of your power for everything comes in through that one single power wire. Depending on what devices you're powering, things could get very hot and firey quickly. Mightnt be a bad idea to use each switch to power a relay instead or rewire each switch to take power individually, maybe from a positive bus bar instead. I know this is a basics video, just some thoughts 👍🏻😀
@@mlaue Depends how you're wiring it. They would draw 6 amps each. So wired together drawing 18amps, technically you could just use a big enough switch amd big enough wiring on a 20/25amp fuse and no relay.
If your connected direct to the battery how much power does it use whilst only showing the voltage reading? I’m thinking of fitting an isolator switch between the 2?
My God man you have made this so simple, I’ve looked inside my console to see what was there and had no idea about a busbar, it all clear now, thanks so much

That is exactly what I was thinking too. I’ve watched a few of these 12v vids, this is the first one that I actually understood. 🎉
Almost nobody shows the negative bus bar. This video is exactly what I needed, thanks!
Hello from Michigan U.S.A. Very nice sir. This video was made so that anyone can understand.

Cheers Mark, simple and straightforward. Enjoyed it. Look forward to your next vid. 🍻

Just found this, very helpful, thx very much for the info
You made this sooo simple!! Thank you!!
This video is a life saver Thankyou!!
It needs a fuse next to the battery on that feed wire to the switch panel to cover the circuit upto the individual switched circuits
Great video. Is there a way of using one of the toggle switches on the panel to turn the whole panel off? I don't really want a separate switch

Hey mate, when selecting the size wire for the main positive do I need to factor in the amount of amps each circuit draws all together? Cheers
As it has fuses dose that mean i can do away with the fuse box

negative to busbar live to switches the switches are pre wired like that
Wonder why need the negative busbar? Is there something different if connect straight to battery negative whitout using the negative bushbar?
No just saves the amount of wires going to the battery
All negatives to bus bar then only one wire from bus bar to battery negative.
Very clear thank you mark you really helped me

how about a light accessory that come from wiring harness and relays ?

nope
