- In the video above, the instructor is conducting a multiple stimulus with replacement (MSW) preference assessment with toys. MSWs allow you to determine a child’s preference hierarchy from a select group of items. Sometimes (but not always), a child’s highest-preferred items can be used to reinforce his or her appropriate behaviors. MSWs are most appropriate for children who will consistently scan a large array of items and make a consistent choice based on relative preference. Although MSWs are more time-consuming the MSWOs, they are an appropriate alternative for children who engage in challenging behavior when favorite toys are taken away. Typically, preference assessments with toys and with edibles are conducted separately.

Aww cute...he has kind manners. I thought that everytime the child picked an object it was supposed to be remove from the choices?
That would be multiple stimuli without replacement. She is performing multiple stimuli with replacement. And yes, he really is kind mannered! So adorable lol
She really shouldn't be engaging with him during his engagement with the items. This is his time to truly evaluate his choices and her engagement could become paired with the stimuli, so he might not choose any of those in the absence of her playing with him.
This would defeat the purpose of “Multiple Stimulus with Replacement” that sounds more like “Free Operant”
why are people putting a dislike????
Could she be unintentionally influencing the results by engaging with him when he has the putty? .
She should engage with all to get better results
Literally this is NOT how an MSW is conducted. The same items should be present in the array on every trial to establish a hierarchy.
