Preference Assessment with Food: Multiple Stimulus with Replacement (MSW)

In the video above, the instructor is conducting a multiple stimulus with replacement (MSW) preference assessment with edible items. MSWs allow you to determine a child’s preference hierarchy from a select group of items. Sometimes (but not always), a child’s highest-preferred items can be used to reinforce his or her appropriate behaviors. MSWs are most appropriate for children who will consistently scan a large array of items and make a consistent choice based on relative preference. Because edibles are consumed rather than removed after each trial, MSWOs may be more appropriate and efficient for assessing edible preferences. Typically, preference assessments with toys and with edibles are conducted separately.

are we sure this is correct? doesnt she have to bring back m&m for every trial?

No not for every trial. Just for the next trial, since m&m was consumer's item of choice in the previous trial. But once item of choice changed from m&m to fruit-snack by consumer, then fruit-snack became the new preferred item (no longer m&m). Therefore fruit-snack being brought back to every new trial. Until that preferred item changes to a new preferred item. And so forth. Hope that helps.

This isn't ran correctly , she suppose to put 1st chosen item back in the array but in another place not limit the choice selection. This shouldn't occurred . Juice was replaced by goldfish which wasn't in the initial array.
