Whitewash & Shelving ~ Van Build E039

- It’s been 2 months since I moved into my van. I’ve been trying to finish the build as best I can before I have to leave the van behind to go on vacation. After that I won’t have access to a workshop or home base so everything that could be done needed to be. The last thing left unfinished is my countertop and backsplash. That may be be some wait however as I am waiting for the wood to be cut and milled.
The pickled white look is a great improvement. It is brighter and looks much cleaner too.
Quite a difference. It looks great.
Some great additions made to your home. I particularly like your shrine, it's such a simple space but it can generate so much positivity. I'm sure it feels very comfortable and cosy in there, it certainly looks it from here. Great job, I think you accomplished a lot of work. ☺️💕
Sometimes simple is very functional. It’s part of what makes it comfortable. I definitely feel cozy :)
Enjoy your videos 👍😀
I know this is 5 years old , I have to leave a comment. Beautiful you did an amazing job looks wonderful you are so talented great eye. Hope you are doing well
Wow, what a great guy! He's not only handy but also super creative/artistic and he cooks! You're such a catch and going to make a girl or guy (didn't want to assume) very happy someday.
☺️
I really appreciate you going through all the fixes and problems you have experienced ...! It’s looking good. Always a bit of stress painting over wood. It looks very good.
I know. I like wood more than paint, but sometimes the paint just looks better together.
Very nice....really like the white wash
You have done a great job with your home. I am not as brave nor confident in my woodworking skills. Plus I have nowhere safe to do what I want to do to my skoolie. But that being said, I appreciate you sharing, and I may attempt to build a place for my shoes out of pallet wood.
Thank you again.
Do give it a go. Start small and you’ll learn how to go big :)
I like the washed pine, much brighter. You are correct, it emphasizes the other wood elements.
Bit of a nerve wracking decision at the time, but I’m totally glad I did it!
You did a great job! I love your style! Very Zen if I may say!
Looks good! Your artistic talents really shine through!
I just finished watching the build series. I think you did a great job.
Congrats on the deep dive and thank you :)
Looking fantastic, man! New subscriber here and I'm really enjoying your videos! 👍😃
Nice choices.
An excellent adhesive sealant for aluminum is Silaprene transportation, been using it on my aluminum trailers for over 20 years, it's bullet proof. Just resealed my Stepvan, fixing nagging little leaks on body seams. It's not cheap, but worth it.
If I ever get a leak I’ll look it up. The leak shown in this video is touching the chimney so a high heat sealant was required.
Like you said it allows other parts to pop. 👍👍👍
Glad you approve :)
So glad to see some improvements of your van but i wanna see more modern in it heheh..
White walls is all you get XD
NICE!!
Actually looks much better. I guess there is a thing as too much wood.
I agree. Well put.
Looks really nice 👍👍 just subscribed 😉 ✌️🚚 ✌️
First time seeing your UA-cam I think it's coming out beautiful and gray but you have to be aware to make a shower and a toilet that's very important and a little sink and stove okay
I’ve got all of this things already :)
Will you be adding more?waaahh i like the size of your van i just love it..you take care...
Small things I'm sure. The only mjor thing remaining is part og the counter and backsplash.
The details really make it. 3500 k LEDs up to 5000 k will really brighten the van. Haw do you deodorize the van? I find that cooking, wood stove and sleeping all in one space makes the space grimy and humid. I assume the venting helps big time, but odors linger. We are in a condo now after decades in big houses. Our problem is no venting in the space.
That’s what the extractor fan is for. I don’t cook with out it on. There is always at least passive airflow at night. I clean my sheets and everything else. So no grime and no humidity.
@@SylvanSecrets Thanks!
I love the changes that you've made so far. You may have mentioned this in previous videos but do you use for bathroom usage?
I have a composting toilet hidden under the beach seating. The seat flips up. My shower system is a basin under the bed with a shower curtain which hangs from the escape hatch. I use a pump sprayer for the water.
Tell us about your altar. It's nice.
I was raised Jewish, but called towards a different path. I now consider myself an eclectic pagan, though Judaism still plays a role for me. This current altar is different from ones I’ve had in the past. I’ve got candle holder for Shabbat as well as images repressing aspects of deity which I made. The obsidian figures are there as placeholders as in the past I’ve had more delicate deity figures made from clay. The obsidian figures are from Mexico. They were a gift from a friend and they need a place of their own eventually.
I use my alter to pray and meditate at. In past I’ve had much deeper surfaces so I could use it for Tarot or the oracle card system I’m developing.
An altar is an important part of my spiritual life. The van was feeling a bit odd without one.
Thank you
By the way, what type of wood stove do you have?
There's no brand or anything. It came with the old build. It appears to be made by a welder or small buissness.
It's a nice little space. However, the piss tube seems a bit anti-social.
Gotta hide it somehow.
@@SylvanSecrets I meant pissing in the street is anti-social.
It would be if that was what I was doing. Obviously I don’t use it when parked on a street. I thought that was a given.
