      It's music, not a god. People are moved by non-religious music as well. If it's good, that's what matters. Hardly anyone cares or pays attention to antiquated lyrics which mostly speak to the ideology of its time. Replace the lyrics with latin and people are still moved. Or Swedish. Still moved. Or make it about Brittany Spears, still powerful music.

    ONLY IN PHILADELPHIA! Good job Philly! Well done and I pray this random act will continue.
    For the Lord God Omnipotent God Reigneth! This song, and I do not know of many, that is TRULY dedicated, and orchestrated and done accordingly so TO GOD. To be SHOUTED so that it pierces heaven, and rumbles the ground underneath the angels' feet.
    How many songs are for Christ, Mary and so forth compared to how many is for God? Hallelujah! Merry Christmas indeed! Merry Christmas to OUR GOD!

    The Wanamaker organ, now 110 years in its home in what is now Macy’s on the southeast corner of City Hall Square in Philadelpia is one of the largest organs in the world, and it is currently _the largest operating organ in the world._
    Free organ concerts are given by various organists every Saturday at noon that the store is open.

    • @johnhunter2294
      @johnhunter2294 3 роки тому +1

      I have a friend who plays the organ; she's put her name on the waiting list for the Wanamaker. I'm told you have to submit an audition tape, and it's something like a year's wait once you get on the list. Even so, it'd still be the highlight of an organist's life to get a chance to play on the king of the King of Instruments.

    I forwarded this to a choir director with whom I work and it brought her to tears as it does mine.
    As a church organist in the ELCA Lutheran church and Catholic churches in which I serve the majesty of the organ is enough to move me but the addition of the choirs bring tears.

    Even better than the mall flash mob! Especially since there are more singers and the world's second largest pipe organ with multiple voices accompanying them! This the best Hallelujah flash mob on UA-cam!

    From the very Throne of God to George Frederick Handel's mind and heart, composed in 1741, and mightily executed here in the magnificent acoustics of Macy's Philadelphia ♥

    This uplifting piece deserves to be top of the playlist not only at this time of year but all year round when we all need a lift out of the doom and gloom surrounding us all. A magnificent setting, a magnificent yet virtually unknown (outside of the USA but I am in UK and love this work) instrument and a magnificent choir making the most the building and instrument can offer their talented voices. No apologies for the number of 'magnificents' but how else would you describe the whole experience we can watch over and over when we need a little pick me up!

    I've listened to this numerous times and it' makes me tear up with Joy every time. Whoever was involved with this last year either in singing, or just being inside the store when the choristers broke out in song are VERY luck people. I really really hope they make this an annual event! Thank you.

      It was brilliantly written and with so many singing it along with that organ accompanying, the Spirit/Creator/G-d moves/touches Everyone...You are not the only non-believer to be affected this way. I have seen many other comments similar to yours...

      I thought hard about your comment. I come to understand no one is born with God-knowledge; that God-knowledge has to be acquired with inner quest. Your comment hides a beautiful truth-we are like a BUD (non-believer), waiting to be bloomed as FLOWER (believer)! It stuns me! Thank you friend.
