- In this premiere Quest Capsule, Part 1 of Searching For Giant Bears...In The Southeast?... Scott's love of finding wildlife in their natural habitat, specifically regarding bears in the wild, is even more so deepened through a recent online research discovery of Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge.
He learns about giant black bears, referred to as Coastal Giants, that can be found off the Southeastern Coast of North Carolina, close to home. Huge bears that have been recorded to weigh in over 700lbs and grow very large due to the vast vegetation and crop fields they roam and eat from. Some of the biggest black bears in the world can be found there!

During our October 2019 OBX Vacation and with the beaches riled up with a Nor-Easter blowing, we spent a day driving thru the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Although we weren't lucky enough to see any bears, the shear beauty and remoteness of the refuge was awesome ! We hope to return soon. This is a Great Video series Thanks for Sharing !
