Wow! First time I've seen this since we supplied the brick for the hotel complex. Isenhour Brick & Tile Co. in Salisbury, NC got the order to supply an "undetermined" amount of brick. It was sorta on a "pay as you go" plan. As money came in for the $1000 donations another floor would be added. The Bakker's and Roe Mesiner picked out our No. 850 Old Berkshire color. In the early stages of the mid 80's things were doing fine and then the checks started to bounce. We demanded cash payment for each truck load of brick delivered. One time the truck came back with no cash and brick were brought back. The reason you see bricks falling down is the walls were not built to code for a high rise like this. I can see at 1:18 they used penny nails to tie the bricks to the concrete walls instead of the corrugated steel straps. Also looks like residential mortar used instead of commercial grade mortar. There were lots of corners cut to cut the cost of this building. That's probably one reason the current owners are having trouble getting permits to complete it. When a building not built to code goes decades in an unfinished state, corrosion sets in especially in metal that is exposed. Any plumbing or electrical that was done would not pass codes today. It would be cheaper to tear it down and start over.
I could be their first resident!Been living off the grid a long time, and I wouldn't mind having something like this!it could be the break I been needing.Just a daydream I suppose, whatever can get me through the day
PTL is the only place I ever had a bicycle stolen. The whole enterprise was rotten from the top down, even before it became a pyramid scheme. When the gold fixtures in Bakker's house came to light, at the same time they were expecting employees to work for sub-minimum wages, a lot of people I knew who worked there started to quit, having seen the light. A few weeks later, it came out that Jim had seen the vagina and the whole thing started to crumble.
Yo...I got inside because I was there doing a story for the news on the building and just asked if I could go in. They said yes immediately. I have been doing news for this area for more than 10 years and done about 5 stories on this property and never thought to ask them before. Finally I did and they were cool about it!
Not sure on what to do with an abandoned building whether to be torn down or some construction company would purchase the building and to have the hotel remodeled and to complete it?
I have often wondered the same thing, I would LOVE to see it restored. But I guess the cost of restoring is too much, and nobody seems to want to pay for it to be torn down. So it's just stuck in limbo. Very sad!
Looks like I did. Let me re-check..... yup, I did ask that. If you watch the video, it wasn't shown nor mentioned how the cameraman got inside. Did he crawl through an opening in a fence? Was he permitted entry through an open door? It seems like a perfectly rational question to me.
robtwild wow man good stuff, been to this property a few times and took exterior photos.. wonder if next time I come down u can use your credentials and get me in with you :)
I want to go in SO bad, but there's barb wire and security. I know there are multiple open doors, but the fear of security finding me makes me really cautious..
@@fikey8445I heard from a very reputable friend that past the gates, the ground is littered with motion sensors. He was trying to get in, got spooked, and left
That's very interesting. I've never seen the inside of it before. I might ask them if I can go in and shoot some stuff. It's hard to believe the whole park is gone now and you would never know it was ever there. Lot of wasted effort with this scam.
i believe you are right. it was never finished, and it still stands there as you see it in this video. local folks want to tear it down, but the church folks still want it there. they may be wanting to work on it. who knows!
@@huck477 Is it too far gone to ever be renovated? I'd love to see it fixed up, but realistically, would be better torn down. It HAS to be dangerous, that tall, and that many bricks that could eventually fall on someone, God forbid.
They actually did finish one of the rooms (I think it was the one shown in this video). I watched an old episode of PTL, and they hired an interior decorator to decorate that one room and its bathroom. It's the only room I know of that they finished.
Went to church here security has a huge hard on for excommunicating people. I was threatened with excommunication by the security directors wife (also in security, obviously nothing shady there) when I was 12. The most I ever did was normal kid stuff like hanging out by the lake after dark. The organization there is totally money hungry, very little of it is about God.
@Edge Lord(open): Loking at this video, and looking at your story, it just goes to show from Psalm 127, verse 1: "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it." If the motivation isn't indeed God and His interests, then it'll just fall apart.
Morningstar's website says they're planning on turning it into a retirement community. They began applying for permits just this year, but the city/county is resistant about giving them the go-ahead.

awesome historical account you have there. i appreciate your story.

Great to see. Thanks for sharing. Flew ther to help save Heritage and still ready to assist.
That would be a great place to house the homeless.

I would argue it was a pyramid scheme right from day one. Bakker has been a swindler since his teens.
So sad. Now its just an inglorious bird sanctuary. Power certainly does corrupt. And absolute power corrupts absolutely.
I wonder how many sub-contractors didn’t get paid
PTL was known as" Preachers That Lust".
That granny wallpaper is from the deepest pit of Hell.

I understand Morningstar Church is considering renovating the tower and turning it into a retirement center?

The first video images I've seen of the inside of the towers. How did you get inside?

So awesome. I hear they're gonna renovate it someday. Wonder if it'll ever happen.
It's 2020, and I don't think any renovation has been done.
It’s 2021... I don’t think it’s going to happen
Why would you? No value whatsoever.
@@sarkattack9968 I work in construction development, its too late now, and water damage. It needs to be torn down sadly.
@@MrEricSevert The bones might be okay, though I'm a bit surprised the entire structure hasn't fallen down on its own.
I'd like to know how they got inside, too. Seems to me the fences scream "keep out, no trespassing".

What a waste of a building and the whole complex! I remember it going up and placing Jim's car on the roof
went here last night and it was was really easy to get inside tbh

how did u get in, asking for a friend

Remember when buildings would last 200 or 300 years or more???
I went to tho top right after Pastor Jim left without permission!
sweet!!
So was this building ever actually used as a hotel? I've read that it was unfinished but can't find much confirmation.

I operated the tower crane on this building and it was never completely finished nor was it ever occupied.
Huck I hope the construction company didn’t go bankrupt because of this?

Such a shame to see the buildings at PTL looking like this. All the dreams gone right down the drain. All that money wasted!
This is so sad.
wow, did you really ask that?
this place is completely boarded up now- apparently they've begun renovating the building into luxury apartments.
They've been saying that for 15 years. They need to just tear it down already. It's way too far gone to be made into anything

Rick Joyner is going to be fixing it up.
People have been saying that for 15 years, it will never happen. They need to implode this hideous building
What a waste
