Love your video Sis. I am a bakongo from Angola. I just wanted to tell you that kimpa vita was never a christian. Her history was rewritten to keep christianity alive within our minds. Kimpa was fighting against black bakongo christians because they were giving the portguese more power.
Kimpa was a initiated nganga if you are bakongo you would know that no nganga in the history of our bloodline was ever a christian/Catholic. Ngangas interact with the ancestors and the unseen world (spirit world) the bible speaks against our traditions cause the bible is not ours

@Freddy Bacon first of you need to educate yourself. Bakongo people are not ethopians and we don not share the same history, culture, diet, phenotypes, language, there was never a name as jeshua who was our god/saviour. Whether the bible is ethopian or not has nothing to do with us. The bible never came from us bakongo people we have teachings and symbolic text that predates your bible or your abraham by 1000s of years. We have our prophets and our God that we honour we also honour everything thag gives is us life. We dont do voodoo, voodoo is from benin. We do practice spirituality. But dont get it twisted our prophets have already warned us against the bible, from kimpa to kimbangu, nzinga (after finding out), mpadi, the 6 nobles, and the list goes on. Any real bakongo knows what i am talking. Christianity and colonisation has detroyed our people and then proof is written in history. Our kingdoms where great before Christianity and fell after Christianity. So jeshua maybe for a ethopian tribe, (remember not all ethopians follow the bible/jeshua as there are many tribes in Ethiopia)

@Freddy Bacon kikongo is not similar to hebrew stop it bro, Arabic is similar to hebrew and most of the kushites languages. Kikongo predates hebrews or israelites and has different tone (bantu). You are mis informed about kimbangu. He never said to follow the bible or to pray to jeshua. He said to only pray and worship nzambi ya mpungu and no one els and to pray between 12midnight and 3am. While sitting crosslegs and hands open above your knees. Kimbango was fighting a spiritual/religious war against the colonizers and the Christinity and bible they brought. He said to read the bible to understand the mind of the colonizer he never said to believe it and in abraham. Noah. Jeshua and the rest of them cause its not our people. Kimbangu was fighting agains christianity and he follow the nseke kongo cosmology/spiritual teachings/ways. When he died in prison his 2 sons where taken to belgium to be Christianized and to christianize their fathers teachings. When both went back 1 started a church in the congo and the other in Angola. Kimbangu never prayed to jeshua same goes for all the kongo prophets. Ngangas (spritual priest), kings/queens, and nobles. And 1 thing most of you seem to forget is that kimbangu was a high level priest Nganga.

KINKIMBA created the marchal arts, such as: Karate, Kapoera..etc.

KIMBANGU is the baby boy Kimpa Vita was carrying in her back when she was burn. The baby came out of the ashes as a dove and flew to what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo, from what is now Angola.

Dear Felicity - i really found it very interesting! I want to be a bit carefull with my opinion for not being insulting - as i really do not know allmost anything about this period and about the Kingdom of Kongo. Kimpa Vita reminds me of many people throughout the world that after being converted to a foreign belief by invaders tried to restore something of the past (at least as how you described it). A sad story and please do not feel offended - but i think actually all those world religions were at the base of a deep destruction of the whole worlds culture and the birth of a very specific type of colonialism. We often see it happening in Africa, as it was rather recent, but before the European continent and Middle east turned to what they are now it happened there to. I thhink the arrivals of these religions to Kongo and not only have destroyed the society very deeply (that is really my observation - sorry if i offend You , but you can criticize my thoughts in the hardest way for my misconcepts) - they basically brought a mentality of slavery, a mentality of hope (in the negative sense of the word - meaning teach people just to pray, hope be obidient and weak). The arrival of those religins destroyed unique and precious local cultures - often they are looked upon by Africans. I often asked Africans about their local belief systems, and from most countries people feel discomfort talking about such themes. I have seen in europe workshops organized by the catholic church and some evangelic churches to prepare missionaries, that are often fanatic and teach just obedience to their converts - so they are continuing to invest to keep Your people week. Sorry for that , but these are my observations. Feel free even to attack me for my mistakes, but please do not feel offended. Concerning Kimpa Vita, i have to do more research to understand many things, but as typical people like her usually ended up persecuted being a danger to colonizers - somebody who brings unity is a danger always for such people. Thank You so much for this video - You gave me many thinks to learn and read about! Have a great day dear sister!

Mental slavery really is a harder slavery to get out of, and I agree that religion plays a big part into that for African societies. You’ve shared very interesting points that I can agree with, so thanks for that.

You share my sentiments. I grew up as a Christian in Liberia, but after learning about Eurooean balkinization of Africa (in my twenties) where they imposed their religions and languages I changed.
The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley also taught me to stand up for myself and not turn the other cheek.
I told a Liberian Catholic friend of mine I will never practice a religion that wasn't created by a black or African person (man or woman). There has never been a black Pope so don't expect me to practice Catholicism.
As for Christianity, there are many verses in the new testament ordering slaves to obey their masters, hence the justification for slavery.
As a matter of fact, I tell people I'm an atheist.
I agree. Their religions conditioned us to be docile. They destroyed our cultures, causing us to hate ourselves to this day. Telling us our ancestors practiced witchcraft and that they worshipped the devil.
I'm not offended by anything you wrote.

    • @Arevapasht

@@dakanu Dear friend - I am not even from Africa, i am Armenian. But in fact that happened to us too, our roots have been erased and since religion came to our lands we almost never had proper independence for centuries. The funny thing is that the deepest and fullest collection of christian texts was kept by Coptic monks, but most of that literature is regarded as "apocryphic" (not trustable) by major christian churches. They say that religions are universal, while in reality they just deny the existance of local culture, which they mark as inferior. In the case of Africa, Latin America and also S Asia reiigions were and are used to rule people and keep them poor. They teach the mentality of a slave and the acceptance of misery. And the continue to promote very actively. In fact there are masses of Christian and Islamic organisations busy in indoctrinating followers in Africa. Each culture has centuries of experience and actually its piece of philosophy and solutions for whole humankind and to earase these cultures is a crime i think.

    • @dakanu
      @dakanu 4 роки тому

@@Arevapasht I agree with your comment about the "acceptance of misery." When people ask me why I am no longer a Christian I tell them the same thing. I remind them that somewhere in the bible it says "in all things give thanks for this is the will of Christ Jesus concerning you." I have read extensively the history of the transatlantic slave trade, so sometimes I questioned Christians why did their god allow Africans to be taken from their lands against their will and ill-treated.
I am proud of my origin no matter what anyone thinks of me. I don't believe in any of the Abrahamic religions. Thanks for your comment.

Felicity- there is more about your spirituality, it's deep and eye opening. The Kongolese people, along with the many Bantu tribes in Africa and those scattered around the world are the true descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The white people in Israel are not the people of the Bible. The Bantus are. Learn Bantu spirituality. Christianity is the European's religion that was brought to Africa. It's not what our ancestors worshipped. Check out Jonathan Tshilombo's UA-cam channel, check out MassiYah's channel, check out Mikha'El Servant of Yah's channel, check out Prophet Mikhael Massa's channel. The African Americans who were taken as slaves to the Americas and elsewhere are the true people of the Bible. So are you. Free your mind.

I am particularly fascinated by the Kongo because there is so much mystery to it. Like, how is it one of the most poorest countries when it is filled with everything you can think of. It is as if it has been blessed by God...but a shame at how it is today which appears to be a curse.

Was that picture hand painted ? If yes by who ? . All pictures about Simon kimbangu are 100% correct and genuine . But to my opinion no a single picture of kimpavita can be recognized as genuine . I don't get it. If she was creating new version of a religion or spirituality how is it that she deferred to Saint Anthony of Padua. If she claims the saints were black why did she deferred to Saint Anthony of Padua. Why do Africans look to Eurooeans for validation? If the European religion was misogynistic why did she refer to Saint Anthony of Padua? Please enlighten me.

Dakanu That’s a good question. If you read up a little bit more about her, you’ll notice that she’s actually referred as the Kongolese Saint Anthony. The kingdom was catholic for a long time so I believe she was showing that black people were also saints in heaven because she became one herself after Saint Anthony was incarnated in her. She was quite aggressive with Europeans and I believe she did that Saint Anthony thing to pass on her message

I don't think this story of Kimpa Vita, willing to have an own christianity in our country is something that she wanted to have in our land. I think she wanted to get rid of it like many of our ancestors to get back in to our spirituality and reality. Because most of our ancestors who did not accepted religions were eighter killed or being enslaved, many of europeans ancestors(including muslims in the north) saw our spirituality as a curse. Meanwhile the real curse is the religion coming from the middle East. Ever since we had it in our continent, nothing has been thriving forward in Africa with prayers. Believing in Jesus of being white have made us weaker in spirit, by loosing connection to our reality and our ancestors.

This story could be partly false yes, especially because we didn’t write our history from back then. But we don’t know which part of it is false, so we rely on whatever is available with the hope of knowing something rather than nothing 😇

Those are the main causes that keep destroying us africans. Europeans and arabs have successfully brainwashed our identity, culture, our land and history. Right now they have been exploting our wealth and resources for many years. Meanwhile, many of us are still wasting our time in churches and mosques to wait for a sign. God has already gaven us a sign and a gift, that is our land...a land which people like mama Kimpa Vita, Patrice Emery Lumumba, Kasa-vubu, Simon Kimbangu fought for our freedom. He also gives Kikongo lessons online. If you respond to this message and let me know that you're interested I'll give you his email and website but meanwhile you can look up his UA-cam channel by typing his name which is Pastor Melo.
