Idk if we'd even be able to make our show without the UA-cam tutorials we've used to learn new equipment and troubleshoot software. Hopefully they revert this decision. It seems like a short-sighted profit-over-people maneuver- the kind that we're all too familiar with.

"this guy is going places"? This guy has already gone to the "places"...
"The ability to easily and quickly identify bad content is an essential feature of a user-generated content platform. Why? Because not all user-generated content is good. It can't be. In fact, most of it is not good. And that's OK. The idea was never that all content is good. The idea WAS, however, that among the flood of content, there are great creations waiting to be exposed. And for that to happen, the stuff that's not great has to fall by the side as quickly as possible.
The process works, and there's a name for it: the wisdom of the crowds. The process breaks when the platform interferes with it. Then, the platform invariably declines. Does UA-cam want to become a place where everything is mediocre? Because nothing can be great if nothing is bad."
- Jawed, the original creator of UA-cam.
What he is basically saying is that without the Like-Dislike system (that he created) users won't be able to know whats good content, or bad content. And if that happens, everything medicore will pop up in the reccomendations, which won't entertain the viewers which will also hurt new upcoming content creators. UA-cam has no choice but to bring the dislike buttons back, otherwise, believe it or not, a different video platform will takeover UA-cam.
This is the most accurate way to sum it up.
Such a lame change from UA-cam, big ups for talking about it even after immediately signing with UA-cam exclusively
yt cant be that dumb there must be a phycological or monetary reason for the change. or maybe there must be some analytic experiment going on.
@@rjacks3284 it's so brands don't get hurt by dislikes/backlash, for example the youtube rewind that was disliked to oblivion. Also all the covid news on youtube is disliked a lot, they want to push the narrative so they simply removed it
Ye signing w/ yt and then instantly critizing them is kind of a mogul move
they have a monopoly over the video hosting "genre" of sites, therefore they can literally do anything they want and people will stay, although there are other video hosting sites (only a few), the reason people don't move to the other sites because that would change their watching habits, and people don't like change. it takes a lot of money to host videos for free, but to get the money to host the videos you'll need advertisers, and they're all on youtube.

the title is pretty accurate. you can see the dislikes by downloading the video and viewing it offline.
What a simple, easy way to communicate what a disaster of a decision this is!
UA-cam is always trying to protect their bottom line. But it's rare they make a decision that comes as a detriment to BOTH the audience and the creators, in a way that was so obviously done to protect brands and advertisers. Thanks for making this! Hopefully someone in charge actually listens and chooses to favor the creators on this creator-driven platform.
Great comment and I totally agree, but we all know how they view and value things on the platform(profits above everything else). This facebook-like scenario where you only have a like and no dislike is great in the eyes of the "enterprise culture". It just works for them and helps them with all the ads. They will start caring for the users only when an alternative to youtube pops up and people start leaving the platform. Until then it will only get worse worse. More ads and annoying daily pop-ups and less features. Sadly youtube has become the modern TV and the youtube we knew as creator-driven platform is dead.
@@user-hm3ym7lq7g Videos that get lots of dislikes are not very popular anyway so I doubt it has anything to do with ads. It's all about protecting coroporate and political interests and gatekeeping information. It's no coincidence that this decision comes right when the most popular US presidency in history is getting constantly ratioed along with all those mainstream news agencies pushing misinformation
the spread misinformation is rampant on mainstream media, facebook, twitter, and youtube and its very VERY profitable so i guess youtube is doubling down on it. so for example when an uninformed viewer see a video defending vaccine mandates and doesn't know that channel is directly funded by biotech firms it will be harder to tell its propaganda.
this move to hide the dislikes protects cooperate interests and strengthens propaganda outlets which makes billions from cooperate funding.

I can only imagine how UA-cam feels about this. They sign on Ludwig and the first thing he does is call out a poor decision they made. In the end, that is a VERY good thing and I'm not criticizing Ludwig at all, this is a very cool move on his part. But I know how UA-cam operates after seeing all of the decisions they've made over the years and I'm sure they're pretty taken aback by this one. Which is how it should be.
Imagine if UA-cam would listen lol.
"I can only imagine how UA-cam feels about this."
UA-cam is not a person. It's a company.
Companies ain't about feelings, they're about money.
I don't think they're "taken aback" by signing someone exclusively who then criticizes them shortly after.
It's not like they care. And Ludwig isn't gonna be the one person who's going to make them think twice about it out of ALL the people who spoke out against this change.
I do hope they see that either literally no one agrees with this change or just doesn't care about it and they reverse it.
But I too know how UA-cam operates and I doubt that they'll cave in.
@@JimmyHey I think you’re focusing way too much on semantics. UA-cam is a company. Who runs and operates companies? People. The people in charge of doing so. When someone says “a company is going to care” about something, they don’t mean the literal idea or construct that is the company, they mean the people who make decisions for the company and the individuals who form the company
Ludwig said in his stream last night when someone made this point that UA-cam the video sharing site and UA-cam Gaming the streaming site are two vastly different places. He compared it to Amazon vs Twitch, they’re both the same company but run entirely independently, so what he does in videos doesn’t affect how his streaming goes for the most part.
@@MarkToast99 Based on past decisions that UA-cam has made, I still highly doubt that they "care".

Exactly, I also wanted to dislike the video but I can't because it's so well done, he uses good analogies and examples and he's straight to the point, he also isn't even being mean to UA-cam or shitting on them like most of the people, he's really politely or respectfully asking for them to reconsider, which makes me think they might listen to constructive criticism more than "UA-cam sucks" or "this website is shit" comments.
