- Produced for Channel 5 by Nine Lives Media in 2009, This moving and inspiring film meets three primordial dwarves living in the UK: Liam, Finn and Alex and their families. The documentary reveals how important it is for young children with this very rare condition to meet and form friendships with others who look similar to them and face the same hurdles in life. It is also great for their families to be able to offer their mutual support and we follow Liam’s parents as they launch Britain’s first international gathering for parents and children with the condition in Liverpool.
Primordial dwarfism is an extremely rare form of dwarfism, where the bodies stay proportionate but small. Only one in five million children suffer from the condition. Growth decelerates with age and most will only grow to 40 inches (102 cm) by the age of 12 and then not live beyond their twenties. It is believed that fewer than 200 people have the condition worldwide.

The little girl who helps Finn in nursery, is such an amazing young lady. She has so much patience and seems to be there for her lots, that really touched my heart. Finn is so beautiful, they all are gorgeous. I pray they live a long healthy life x
Finn was alive and well in 2017, when she won a price in a sports competition. Liam was alive and well in 2019. He has long hair and looks handsome. Alex had his 15th birthday in 2020. I haven´t found newer info.

I hoped they live a long time. They do have Type 2 going for them. Type 1 diagnosis is alot more serious.
I know Alex irl and he's at least 18 now! (Forgot if he's 18 or 19) he's been in hospital a lot but he's still alive :)
I just want to say that the fact that the other kids are helping and including her instead of ignoring and making fun of her warms my heart. Finn has some really good friends!

That same beautiful little friend helped her through out the day. Their sweet friendship was absolutely adorable. In the US nursery schools and regular schools don't often track. So the parents would have to make the effort to keep the friendship alive. Either way I hope the parents make the effort.

She's definitely the cutest. She also seems to be the only one of the three who isn't mentally impaired. I'm not trying to be mean to the other two, but I'm sure my comment will still anger someone.
It's appalling for children to " not be eligible" for MRI Scans, due to lack of diagnosis. As a nurse, I understand the costs and long waiting lists. However, surely even a 2 yearly scan could be performed. Finn should have been given an MRI, IMMEDIATELY, when she complained of headaches. Waiting for months , when she's known to be at risk of brain issues, is unacceptable
My 3 year old is the same height as little Alex.. she has just recently started wearing 18 month infant clothes and fits a size 4 baby shoe. She weighs all of 23 lbs🫤. She’s my bitty baby love
Alex's parents are so loving and caring, organising this event must have been hard, but so much with it❤️🥺

I love the fun spirit of these children! They deserve the best quality of life possible. The power ranger costume is awesome!! Finns parents did a great job making sure she has an age appropriate uniform like the other kids. Alex and all of the kids have wonderful loving parents!
Cute children my son was born microcephaly he is 43yrs. old. The specialist said he wouldn't live past three. God is so good I dedicated him to the Almighty God, and kept him in His house. He spared my son thank you Jesus 🙏🤗💕.

Danny has been in more than one documentary. People probably recognize him. It shouldn't be surprising they want a photo with him sometimes. If you put your child in a show you shouldn't cry when people are happy to see him and want a picture with him...
Remember Kenadie? She was very popular when this video was made. She even made a movie. Wonder how she’s doing today. She must be a teen.

Sad to say that Kenadie passed away in late 2023 at the age of twenty due to complications from her condition.

The seamstress did a great job to custom make Finn’s school uniform. The children’s condition is heartbreaking and inspiring. I can only do one thing for them, I’ll pray for the children’s all around well being and I’ll pray for the parents mental and emotional hardship.
I have the same as Alex because even some of us have this at normal size. God bless these beautiful angels. Mom no tears for he will find his strength partly in you. Stay strong you are blessed beyond measure although it might not seem like it. I miss carried twice and quit trying after this so indeed they are a miracle and gift from the great creator.

Alex is actually quite tall now, hes a typical teenager and is almost 5 feet tall! As of 2018 he has a little brother who does not have the condition

It isn't ... but for a person with Primordial Dwarfism, that is tall. To give an idea, Peter Dinklage, who has the far more common Achondroplasia Dwarfism, is 4'6". I am short due to some a tad more complex, but 5'2" is about average for a person like me ...
So for a person born with the rarest, and thus shortest, form of Dwarfism there is, being able to grow as almost as tall as me, is actually pretty damn incredible.

It depends, and there are many reasons why a person has a GI tube, or similar. Without knowing any of the underlying conditions, it is impossible to say definitively yes, or no. Anything else is just conjecture ...

True, but in another documentary that he was in, his parents said Danny's mentality was quite childlike. He was 16 I believe. The parents seemed aware but happy to just go along with it, idk why, and maybe they still do

Wow oh god I cannot stop watching this video they are so cute and adorable I love all the toddlers just the way they are.
I am appalled that people wanted to take photos of Danny and Liam. That's so inappropriate and treating them as if they are freakish. The parents should not allow it. Danny's father thinks it's positive attention? No it isn't. Its inappropriate attention and those people taking the photos should have been told how inappropriate it was. Does the father not think to ask people why they want a photo? I feel really angry about it.

They have to get approval from the NHS and getting approval for specialists takes along time

At 43:16 the audio cuts out... it doesn't return... after the last hours journey with these adorable people, this is a bit distressing! I want to know the results of the MRI's... I want to know that all the babies' parents are all right! That they're receiving counseling and keeping a tradition of the ... I don't want to stay "convention" (it makes me think of Comicon and the like!)... so I think I'd say, perhaps, now that theyve all met previously, that they're having regular reunions and that the mums stay in touch with each other and the dads too! I doubt very much that any of this is covered in the remaining minute or so of the program... but.. I feel so CUT OFF! It's unnatural!

Hi I believe it’s amazing that these kids do not give up Great job on with parents that help with encouraging their children. it’s difficult being small for size I was told I would not make it past 11 years I have got past triple that age. any one with a disability has challenges but does not mean they are disabled they just have to find a new way it’s like driving to Target Grocery store you have a habit of going one way but what if one day there is a deep hole and you cannot go that way. or if A turtle becomes a friend with a rabbit either the rabbit has to help turtle over or it can try to help find a way for both to go easier for rabbit. after they find a way it’s still good for the rabbit to still hop over the logs and rocks but go with his turtle friends., at times. God bless and continue helping these strong kids. I do believe God cares for them. Brena
