IDENTICAL twins don’t usually come with physical differences, but for two remarkable Texas twins, being mistaken for mother and daughter is a regular occurrence. 20-year-olds Sierra and Sienna Bernal are identical twin sisters but were born with a significant difference: Sienna has Primordial Dwarfism. The condition causes small body size, resulting in Sienna being more than a foot smaller than Sierra, and weighing only 50 pounds, in comparison to Sierra’s 98 pounds. Sierra TV: “Sometimes whenever people find out we're twins they’ll ask ‘how old is she?’ So a lot of times even after you've established that we’re twins they'll ask Sienna if she's younger. I’m like ‘that’s how twins work, we’re the exact same age’. And even sometimes people think she’s my daughter.”

I had twins at 20 and named them Annie and Abby. (Would not do that again!) Then had a second set and they are Charlie and Odin. The similar names can be way too confusing!!

Dwarfism, along with height, can be small in general. Like her weight and stature. Maybe the way they filmed tried to make her family appear super tall and in turn made her taller too

Doctors can only estimate based on their education and experience. They don't know how long someone will live but they also can't dole out false hope.

There's tonnes of different types of dwarfism. As they explained, she has primordial dwarfism, & that'll be a type of primordial dwarfism.
Primordial dwarfism is a rare type of dwarfism where a person's body is completely in proportion but they are just smaller in size. So they don't have the short limbs you might expect in other more common types of dwarfism. It's usually a genetic condition on its own from what I've seen. Although in her case it might be linked to her brain condition messing with her growth. I'm not sure.

as an identical twin, I’m 13 and have a twin sister and we always get compared to and would always be asked how old is the other one because my sister is 2 inches shorter than me. I don’t take it too offending though, because I’m used to it. But if someone compares us like someone’s prettier than the other, I snap. It happens very often. Quite sad.

Kay’s Life My mom’s also 5’1 (155cm) and I’m around 5’6 (168-169cm) I live in Sweden were everyone is tall, so my mom is very short compare to the others here, but it’s actually an average height in Peru (where my mom’s from). I got a bit taller because of my dad. (he’s like 6’2, 188cm and he’s from Sweden so he’s like average here)

My fraternal twin brother has hypopituitaryism. He was born with normal weight, while I was severely under-weight. When we graduated from 8th grade I was 6', 160lbs. He was 4'2" and 80lbs.
He is a natural athlete; horse riding, water skiing, and particularly baseball and basketball, which I could not have cared less for. Not that I lacked physical strength or skill, just didn't play basketball. I was the brother who got to stay home and do the farm chores.
Being a small rural farm town anybody who showed up got to suit up, and with the help of a couple of large diaper pins he could get the uniform to stay on. When ever the team was so far ahead, or behind, they'd send him in which would get the home-town crowd up on their feet. As he was so short he would invariable get fouled in 20 seconds, and this is where shone; he was shooting 93%! There are state records kept on this but there has to be 25 attempts and the best he ever did was 23 in a season.
He got the farm and I got my father's 1947 Royal typewriter. Like so many failed intellectuals; Chaucer, Melville, Hawthorn and St. Mathew, I became a customs officer.

Because this condition is caused by a mutation in one of her genes that only appears after the two fetus’s had separated and were two seperate babies in the same womb. So if one twin develops a mutation or defect or disorder etc in that stage of development, the other twin wouldn’t be affected.

because one of them has a genetic mutation... without dwarfism, the smaller twin would look exactly like her twin.
Well identical twins are essentially one egg that splits into two zygotes, once they split in the womb the normal sister would have continued growing normally, whilst the sister with dwarfism (forgive me I can't remember which one is sienna and which is Sierra) would have suffered a mutation. Mutations are random so even though the twins are identical mutations after they split can still cause differences. This is why sometimes a twin dies in the womb but the other can survive and be healthy, they're identical but there are still differing factors in development that can cause differences.

Primordial dwarfism is different than what you might be thinking of. With primordial dwarfism, they tend to have perfectly proportioned features that are just much smaller. I think these sisters are absolutely beautiful.
emma elson primordial dwarfism is different to achondroplasia. Achondroplasia is the type of dwarfism that is common. Primordial dwarfism isn’t very common so it’s not as recognised so you wouldn’t really think that she had dwarfism since it’s really different to what you wouldn’t consider dwarfism as.

@@spoonypoon7998 they are identical twins when the egg splits after being fertalized. Doctors will know this a few months into the pregnancy. If they are fraternal, it's two seperate sperms to two seperate eggs.
So they are identical from being from the same egg and sperm.
