This was a little frustrating to watch, seeing people without access to complex medical care and answers to their questions or diagnoses was heartbreaking, but those families! So much love. In Australia we have some of the best medical treatment in the world but we have a massive shortage of carers or home nurses for disabled people. You can just tell these young people will be lovingly cared for in their families for the rest of their lives. I’m not criticising our society or families who need help, saying maybe we need to support families in different ways.

But even in my job there’s staffing shortages. To me it’s sad that these services aren’t more readily available the world over.

I think there is something more going on then just narrowing of the intestines that would cause this. We have to remember that some of these countries, the medical care is extremely poor, especially, 30 years ago (maybe would be better today). Also, these families may not have the finances to pay for surgery and hospital care. There are conditions out there that don't start until a person is a toddler.

The second girl seems depressed and unhappy because it's difficult for her to communicate. You could make a communication board with pictures of things like pictures of food one of water and one of napping start small and see if she can point at things she would want that's on the board. Add to it if she understands it is to help her communicate. My daughter is handicapped she can't see , talk or walk, she jestures if she wants something or don't want something and she loves music she gets very happy listening to music! It wouldn't hurt to try.

I agree. In many other places, particularly the more affluent countries, she would have gotten intervention as a child to help her to learn how to communicate. Even people with chromosome abnormalities and very low intelligence can be taught to use signs or symbols on a tablet, or at least a picture board, to ask for what they need. And their families can be taught how to teach them. I wish she had had the recommended surgery, but also, had had access like more wealthy people do to these educational and communication interventions. They adore her and would have surely implemented what they could.

They may not have the same prefrontal cortex development and thus the same level of judgement of an adult. They may be, then, psychologically and physiologically, like very advanced children, but I wonder if a person that has to keep the brain of a child is ready to be treated as an adult.

I found it disturbing that they recorded a couple of these women bathing. That would never happen to a full grown woman in a UA-cam video and certainly not a child so why is it ok to do it to women who look like children? They don’t deserve decency? I am sure that it’s a pretty terrible life to be exploited by everyone around you and treated like a baby when you are an adult. I like the videos on this channel but this one make me feel some type of way. Did this benefit these women at all?

What the doctor says by way of medical explanation around the 8:37 mark is bizarre. Who gives this as the only other possible diagnosis and is professionally satisfied with herself? Possibly the weirdest thing I've heard all week-- and the bar is set high for weirdness in 2023. The wretched woman has had 30 years for her family to get her correctly diagnosed and THAT is what she's hearing in her 30th year?! Am I the only viewer who would find that entirely unacceptable? If she's the result of interfamily marriage, then I wish they'd just be clear about it and leave it at that.

3:04 I was wondering where I saw her because I do watch Indian Idol quite religiously, and she looked awfully familiar. I was thinking to myself while I was watching the whole entire episode. Where have I seen her? I hope I can find her social media platform on the description box of this video because she was a fantastic singer on Indian Idol, and I am finally happy that she’s getting the proper recognization she deserves part of the reason why I am such a fan of Indian idol is because they use their platform to promote conditions like hers. Quite a few years ago like in the early 2000s they had a young man who I don’t know about the whereabouts about him right now, but he had, some sort of retinal related blindness, some birth defect with his retina’s in his eyes and Indian idol, of course promoted him so he could not only share his beautiful voice with the rest of the world as she did, but also bring organization to her condition, hats off to her, and I hope she actually could possibly open a UA-cam channel. I feel like if she open the UA-cam channel her organization will just skyrocket even more just a suggestion because I feel like we need to bring even more recognization to her not just because of her medical condition but as a person, her personality seems so upbeat ❤❤
