I got mine going for about $1100. The scooter is a EMOVE Touring no kick start. I have had it for about 3 years now. Made in the USA. MY wheelchair is a wide wheelchair it's not skinny.
Y’all are flipping amazing! I have someone who recently become wheelchair bound, and I’m determined to do something like this for him once he’s ready. I can only imagine the possibilities this may afford. Thanks for sharing!

Wow Cap. You are the master fabricator. Fast, smooth and quiet. You could build those as a kit and make a fortune. Bringing more freedom and joy to the handicap population. You are a humanitarian!
BIG TIP: Be sure to get a scooter that has ZERO START option. In most Kick Scooters like this one, you have to "push off" before it will go. This is not always an option for a crip like me. With Zero Start, you can just give it throttle and take off by the motor.

Having been active in a manual wheelchair, sports, trails, hand cycle, etc. for 35 years I like to see the type of innovation using everyday available scooters; the trouble with ones made specifically by wheelchair manufacturers, even adapted ones they are usually 50 percent to 90 percent more expensive; because they are classified by FDA as medical devices. Its just reality. One thing I noticed on this video is the height deck of scooter and the user bending his back to lean forward for weight distribution because his footplate is elevated about 4" it looks like. For many this will be very uncomfortable with a back injury, however, the lower the scooter deck the better. As technology allows for unique wider market devices like electric scooters, Segway style designs, etc. -- even a modified electric skateboard with a swivel front wheel and steering arm attached might work---being creative is wide open. This video and workmanship is a stable safe easy cheap method once you have the scooter. IMO if I could reduce the overall length of this to 12-15 inches housing a electric motor, and steering device to fit right under the footplate and have the steering pole come up between your legs, it may not even be visible.
Making one of these myself. I have actually had it working but ran into the problem that he was talking about but with a rear wheel drive model like his. I wasn't getting enough weight on the drive wheel so it would just spin. I made it with a 12 volt scooter I got cheap just to have a proof of concept. Was planning on a different model later on. I have a power chair I use 99% of the time but want to get back into a car from my full size van so need to start using my manual chair but due to shoulder injuries to both its really hard on me.
@@jamesfrost5261 hey bro I get it...with respect I worked in DME business for ten years fitting SCI/adults and kids all levels to chairs and also sports chairs. Shoulder injuries are real. I understand. It's freedom and choice no doubt. Well if your like me researching all the new related devices as you mentioned skateboard you picked up. That is worth trying. I have a hand cycle that s older model and this year sometime, pending $, might buy used electric bike, pull wheel and electronics off and put either one or two rear wheels powered by electric motors. Been researching that.....then just take gears off and put some handlebars on like a bicycle. Having original skinny tires/rims also at same time would like to change them to something more durable....all good stuff good luck going forward.
Looked like on the video @ 18:15 your friend lost his coin purse full of gold coins in the grass . The gold coins were going to be payment for such a fine job you had done . I really enjoyed this video .👍
I don't own a car and I never did! I can totally walk by the way but I can't Disneyland walk. my hip starts hurting a bunch if I walk too much. But I try to get my walking in every day. I also own a mobility scooter that I use for work.
I keep moving. I'll get up on the sidewalk instead of sitting at the light. As long as I'm heading in the same direction NOTHING can stop me,most of the time.
Genius! A couple skateboard truck clouds threaded over those hold down bolts between star-board landing pad & bottom of wheelchair foot pad might could fill that slight void & cushion shock loads when transitioning across uneven surfaces.
2nd the idea of skateboard trucks. Longboard trucks are very wide. You could bolt the base of the truck to the scooter, connect the truck to the wheelchair. It would allow the wheelchair to flex. You could adjust the tension of the truck and use firm or soft truck bushings depending on how much flex you want.

Ouch! for goodness sake, you can pick up a drive scooter for £625 . This is the remote controlled one which auto folds and unfolds itself, or the Livewell scooters which disassemble into several parts so they can be easily packed into cars and other small spaces, only £416 at best. I will be buying a drive Scout or something similar, or I might even win the dual wheel model which Complete Care Shop is giving away next month. Any day soon, I will be an elective ambulatory wheelchair user myself, since I suffer from chronic Lymphoedema, dual sensory loss and dropped feet, all in both legs, so that makes me fall over and graze my hands and/or face at least once or twice a week if not more often than that. My joints won't support my swollen legs either. I would have thought something like powerstroll could be operated by a wheelchair user with the included remote control.
@@OutOnTheReef No, sadly, I won't get better. Its lifelong. UK folk like me, don't even bother with this. e scooters are illegal on public highways and byways. I don't think, they're illegal on private property, at least, not everywhere on private property. There have been trials with them on the roads in some of the major cities here, but they're still not road legal most other places... therwise, I'd probably raise some help to attach a travel wheelchair in bag to an Every scooter but in a way I can quickly unlink them and store them in the smallest space possible.

great job thanks
Glad you liked it!👍👍
Ouch! for goodness sake, you can pick up a drive scooter for £625 .
Sorry to hear that and I hope you get better
@@OutOnTheReef No, sadly, I won't get better. Its lifelong. UK folk like me, don't even bother with this. e scooters are illegal on public highways and byways. I don't think, they're illegal on private property, at least, not everywhere on private property. There have been trials with them on the roads in some of the major cities here, but they're still not road legal most other places... therwise, I'd probably raise some help to attach a travel wheelchair in bag to an Every scooter but in a way I can quickly unlink them and store them in the smallest space possible.
