I feel the most interesting part of Chappie got thrown in the last few minutes and so it got overlooked. Chappie invented a form of immortality. He successfully created a copy of a human brain and installed it in a machine. The implications of that would be a great movie, if done correctly.

@@aeden8008 Transcendence is more in the vein of Lucy where it's more about what if the human mind had no limits. Im not sure that would be possible within the power of the computers in the Chappie robots, but arguably could be seen increasing in following generations. I, personally, wouldn't mind seeing it go more of a Bruce Willis Surrogates direction where they touched on the pitfalls of feeling no fear for what happens to them because they just hook themselves up to another robot drone body. Maybe introduce the concept of creating multiple copies of oneself and ramifications of that.

“I don’t want to put my life in the hands of a robot.”
Unfortunately, you are on UA-cam where bots being managed by other bots can flag and teardown videos and delete your channel because they think they saw an “Tiddy.”
This literally happened to a UA-camr called “Lost Pause.” Apparently, a bot kept flagging his videos because they thought That the gold buttons on a Chibi Lilly (his channel mascot) were Nipples. No joke.

Didn't see the movie myself, so I can't say for sure, but just some food for thought. There are a couple of reasons why you shouldn't shoot a gun (especially a high-power rifle like an AK-47) in a cave. The main reason is ricochet, which from the look of the snippets you showed would almost definitely happen in a cave that narrow. Plus, the robot is made of metal, which again, could cause a ricochet. The second main one is the sound. Even firing a rifle without hearing protection in a open field where the sound won't bounce back at you, can still cause hearing damage from how loud they are. If you were to do that in a cave where the sound would bounce around and back at you constantly, without hearing protection your looking at ruptured eardrum's and subsequent deafness, intense disorientation, and lose of equilibrium. As for not trying to take the robots weapon or smashing it with a rock, that would put you range for it to grab you and kill you or grab the rock and kill you with that instead. Also the Navy Seal has seen that they self destruct when the robots are neutralized, so even if he could take it out it would just explode and take him with it right? Idk, like I said, didn't see the movie but from hearing you describe it I could think of a few reasons why they did what they did there.

Oddly enough, I've worked on robots for military-related government contracts and let me just say that when it comes to certain contractors, many organizers are legitimately just so incompetent..
They feed you with a bunch of scare-tactics and other weird lies, pay ''good'' money but they absolutely lack any fundamental knowledge in the field. Maybe that was just my situation but a lot of the concerns when it came to those programmers were kinda relatable.

Its not an 80s period piece, or a "let's throw as many 80s cheesy references in your face as possible **coughcough hot tub time machine coughcough**" but a b-movie made as if it were made as a b-movie in the 80s... in all the best ways.

Is it just me or do writer robot lovers rarely understand even the basics of how they operate? Nothin' wrong with some dumb fun, but, realistic robots can be so kickass if utilized properly.
If advanced enough, robots could be absolutely perfect predators, and a character finding a way to survive one would be a genuinely impressive feat if written properly, as well as satisfying payoff for a tense game of cat and mouse between a man and man's greatest killer.
It really helps the fight feel personal, which is often difficult with machine villains since they're usually a horde of personality-less pons, or similarly dull AI.
Of course, that's just my opinion, and to each their own.

Saw this a week ago and streamed MoM today and I was not disappointed expecting too much from this flick. I was, as you said, blown away by the previews and I'm glad your review sort of let me know not to get my hopes up too much-- it's a good movie. That's about it. I DID like the way the writers let us know where the AI was uploading to...I think it leaves room for an awesome sequel. Thanks for review -- I think I'd have been seriously f disappointed if I hadn't seen it before watching. 👾

the machine has two CPUes one that gives order and one that decide the best way to complete the order. now on number 4 the CPU that was supposed to give orders slid of in the drop but the part which decides how to complete the orders was still active for some reason. and because of that it created a loop of which his orders are to find orders. or your meaning is to find a meaning for humans. that's basically how he gained self-awareness. the CPU which completes the orders already has the capacity to surpass human intelligence it's just limited by the fact it has no reason to act without the first CPU.

They were most likely told it was a terrain systems check. The machines need to process the terrain and be able to move, otherwise they would just, well, fall over. So it’s probably just meant to be a test to see if they can navigate harsh terrain. Or rather, that’s what the engineers were told.

To be fair, while the robots certainly need to be tested around people, you'd normally do so by giving them paintball guns, not live ammunition. What would make more sense would be if the robots had paintball guns, they wandered through a training exercise against humans and found out that despite their task of 'killing the enemies' their guns were totally ineffective. Then they somehow started getting creative with the kills, by throwing people off cliffs or something. Or, they just came across some cartel operation and one of them dropped their fake gun and picked up a real one by accident. Suddenly they're now armed and lethal.
That's what's more likely to happen with AI, bad programming that leads to death, not the AI suddenly deciding that people should die because it's a threat. unless the AI has been programmed for self-preservation, why would it care if people wanted to kill it? It would have no emotions even if it were smarter than us.

(16:44) Not sure who is actually "losing their lives" for technological advancement, but without modern medicine we'd have very high infant mortality rates and an extremely low life expectancy. This idea that there are "all of these natural things" that we can use instead of modern medicines is a fallacy. If there were, we'd be using them. Not to mention there would be people making money off of them.
This kind of thinking arises when people aren't surrounded by the death and sickness as a result of "living naturally".
Also, natural selection (and essentially arguing for eugenics) takes a long long LONG time.
There is a reason the planet's total population exploded within the last 200 years and medical technology is a big part of that. My grandparents used to yell at me to wear shoes outside when I was a kid and _their_ elders hammered it into their heads because they lived at a time when a foot wound could potentially _kill_ you.
Not to mention that without modern medicine a certain nasty little virus going around would end up killing millions every year without a vaccine to stop its spread. Just sayin'. ;)
I know going off on a rant can be fun, but be sure to confirm the efficacy of your points as you leap from one to the next. ;)
News flash: they have just discovered a new strain of the virus in Great Britain that is almost twice as contagious. They are actually trying to limit transportation out of the city of London in an attempt to keep people from spreading it to the rest of the country and possibly the world. At the time of this comment, it is not known if the three vaccines that have been made to combat the original virus, and which have been in development for months, are effective against this new strain. This is just a tiny glimpse of what a world would be like without our present level of medical technology. :/

    • @Alteori
      @Alteori  4 роки тому +1

Oh trust me, I love technology in the advancement of it but there's no denying that people have become very lazy and handicapped as a result on a whole.
Yes people do live longer but less people are active and living longer with more health issues. The reason why more people don't use natural methods is because of money.
The truth is it cost way more to grow/harvest, plants or mold (penicillin) in their whole form than it is to manufacture them into pill form. It uses way more resources and as a result would he distributed to less people. It is what it is.
Also, what do you think benefits the food and drug administration? Something that will completely cure you? You're really naive if you think so. It's not a tin foil hat take, it's the way the world is unfortunately. At least the way it is now.
Everything is a business, even my family members who are in the medical field have seen that, have sat at the board meetings and conferences. The world is not as rose colored as we all wish it would be.
Technology can do things faster and in bulk like getting food, as a result people are consuming way more than they need and there is more suffering because of it because there is more of a demand because it is easy to come by. It's a cycle that feeds off itself.
Technology is wonderful as is most of the advancements that aided us in progressing as a civilization, however no matter what you do or what you wish, there will always be the abuse of it. And there in lies the problem.
You invent a gun to make it easier to hunt animals to eat, people will use them to hunt other people.
You make a building which is a fortress from the harsh environmental elements, people will use it as a dungeon to trap and torture people.
We humans with all our acquiring of knowledge have always been instinctively cruel when given too much power. It's just the way we are and when people say, "oh if I had all that power I would never do that." Yeah ok. I wonder those little boys and girls that those super rich elites used to be, if they all thought the same. (and please don't take this as every single rich person is bad, however every super rich person, usually has to do some bad things to get/stay rich)
Also I'm not arguing FOR eugenics. Choosing the most fit mate and not breeding with sick individuals has ALWAYS been the nature default. Human still instinctively do it to some degree.
It's why when a guy sees a very young and fit woman, he's attracted to her because his lizard brain is telling him that she could give him babies for a long time and she's healthy. It's why when you seen attractive girl on the internet for some reason beyond logic you want to give up your life savings just for the 1% chance she'll fck you. It's why no matter how much a Man loves a woman, most of them will always find other members attractive, especially if they have great genes.
Same thing when a woman sees a very fit male or a male with a lot of resources who is smart.
Now we can afford to be choosy because we're comfortable in a civilization where everything is at our fingertips and we no longer have to fight to survive predators or harsh conditions the way our ancestors did.
By the way people DO lose their lives for technological advancement. Just take a look at the history of NASA. For all the safety precautions to have been put in place that we have now people had to literally burn in rockets, or in the case of the architecture of civilization, go check it out in history.
those safety precautions that were put in place, the way that elevators are designed today, people DID lose their lives. That's usually the determining factor to motivate people to making change to make things safer and thus advancing technology. 🙂
Oh also, you said that the reason why I think that people can use natural remedies to facilitate life expectancy and quality of life is because I'm not surrounded by sickness and death. 🙂
Ironically, all of my ancestors lived into their 90s and 100s as far back as we could document especially on my mother's side. You know what they all had in common?
They were farmers but they could not afford all those fancy medications and hospitals.
No, they lived off the land and yes when the kids were sick, they would use herbs. They would exercise and they would work with their hands. They also weren't eating a whole bunch of processed food.
You know the only family member who's really sick right now? My mother, who had started taking pills after moving to this country and working. She developed allergies here and so she started on benadryl. She started taking medications for this and for that just because it was easier and available. Over the years she developed other problems and had to get pills for those. She's a nurse.
She said every patient that she's had in their old age takes literally over a dozen pills everyday for different things.
She said patience that would come back and took a certain amount of pills, had even MORE pills prescribed.
My aunt who is a pediatrician also confirmed this. Doctors are trained to prescribe medication for issues they find with patients and to treat the symptoms.
Now there are some really good doctors who will only prescribe their patients hard pills as a last resort. Those doctors want to find out the root problem and will not stop until they do except that even to do that is very costly for the patient even with insurance.
My grandfather is 105, in his right mind, has four teeth left and up until 2 years ago, he was still living in the country in which I was born, chopping his own wood every morning, walking to the shop everyday and socializing with his friends and the people of the town, coming back home and cooking.
      The same for my ancestors.
      So you tell me.
I'm not saying all medicine is bad but I think we have to do things in moderation and and all of this, we are responsible for ourselves and our well-being.
I don't like pumping my body full of pills unless absolutely necessary. If I have a headache I go to sleep or I drink more water.
If I'm feeling sick I do this ridiculous thing that many animals will also do. I fast from food for a while, so my body won't spend all of its energy trying to digest all the processed food I'm putting into my body and spend time clearing out my bad cells.
and this weird thing happens. The last two years I've been doing that whenever I start to feel a tickle in my throat, I felt better the next morning. In the years before that when I was taking a whole bunch of pills for every symptom, I stayed sick longer.
Anyways all I'm saying is that technology and medicinal advancements are wonderful, but we still need to use them in moderation because at the end of the day everything nowadays is a business, and those businesses benefit off of the need and demand of the people they're selling it to.
However are dependents on those things makes us weaker the more we depend on them.
Machines Now kill a whole bunch of animals very easily so we can consume them.
In turn 99% of America's population would be s*** out of luck if we suddenly had to learn to hunt for our own food.
Pills and medicines can help easier symptoms, but not only do a lot of those pills have a million side effects but if something happened and we couldn't have those pills manufactured anymore, we've lost the knowledge on what herbs and resources we can utilize to help make us feel better that those same pills were synthesized from. 🤔
We now have cars and vehicles to get us a place is much quicker. More of us are getting fatter and dying of heart disease because we would rather jump in the car to get fast food down the street then to get something out of our refrigerators to cook.
I hope you see where I'm going with this I'll stop it here. 🙂

so having not seen the movie so your summery for their explanation could be completely accurate for all i know, but being a military tech guy having components segmented is usually meant for quick repairs or redundancy. making it an appealing way to go for most branches. so if the ai is suppose to have a slight learning algorithm to adapt in theater (combat area assigned) and has a had or soft cap to keep it in control. damage form a fall like that would a least cause a reboot and a bad card or modular in control of the cap could very well have just failed to load that line of code or it got corrupted meaning a hard reboot (full shut down not just a restart) or a re-upload of the software would be needed to bring it back to what it's suppose to be. This is normally very rare and can cause cascading failure so it would eventually fail on its own do to burning the card or further corrupting its code. This is though just something I've seen with some of my equipment and card failures or just bad boot ups with them.

    • @darksonicroks
      @darksonicroks 3 роки тому

so i posted this before seeing that it was actual pulled out completely that big a card would never be used for just that unless it's code was compiled so horribly that two hard drives are needed (i want to say would never be accepted but...). this is much less reasonable.

That was an outdated Boston dynamics clip, go look at the improved robot that can get up if knocked down, and open doors, and do several other tasks humans can do. Oh, also, one o the tests was it picks up a box, and they knocked it out of its hands repeatedly, at first, it just picked up the box again, after four or five times though, it went after the researcher.
