Everyone that says anything negative about shorts have to realize that Hollywood actors and producers have millions of dollars at their disposal, the person/'s that made this probably did not. Great Job and keep it up, who knows this might end up on the movie screen someday.
This is pretty much the most complete concept trailer I've seen. Hard to believe it took three days to shoot and with only $150. Insane! With a polished script/screenplay, actors and effects, I hope to see an epic on the big screen! :D
I wouldn't be surprised if this type of scenario "Have your enemies build your own army" has been done before, maybe just so sparsely I can't recall myself, but it's a good concept, and the movie looks like it could be fun at the least.
It has been done before - I'm digging through my classic sci-fi collection to see which author it was - Asimov, Clarke, Niven, Poul, someone of that generation, I seem to recall.
So why did they even bother making up this elaborate plan with mechs if they had giant Independence Day/Mass Effect lasers that they scorched the planet with?
Well they probably thought that the humans might have an equal amount of firepower than them, so they told them to build mechs that were clearly a more advanced technology that would be there only main defense.
Seriously? I think it's absurd to make your enemy build an army, when all it takes for you is to come with your armada and nuke everything from orbit. Something that they seem to have done anyway.
if this is done properly with big budget and everything, it could be an instant classic. Imagine how many minds would be exploded with this plot twist, half first of the movie is all building the 'army' to defend earth from the 3rd wheel then BAAM in your face human! Then the insectoid aliens turn out to be the guardians of galaxy trying to save other races from robotic threats then turns out it has always been the masterplan of Earth government to weaponize every of its inhabitants to conquer other dimensions and they have been secretly plotting the invasion for millenniums and we discovered 'God' was a gigantic super ancient galactic super computer floating at the edge of the universe that we know and everything turns out to be just a computer simulation= video games of a teenage boy living in his parents house somewhere on Uranus! BAAM!!
respect Uranus man. I know it's far away and there is not much inside of it to desire for, but it's important to the universe. Without Uranus there life on Earth would be so drastically different than what we are having now. Not saying it's a bad thing, I just really like the way my life is now. Be pround of Uranus bro
You did an AMAZING job! This trailer is the best one-man project I've seen. Beside your obvious visual and technical talent, the concept is very fresh and original, which is a rarity in the current bombardment of studio and indie film. I hope to see this on the big screen!
if trailer is 5 minutes then film must be 5 hours. and i think i already saw everything that may happen in it from that trailer, which ended like it was preface of some sort of game
What about a movie to start and introduce the series? You know? The movie if done right with lets say a 50 Million Dollar Budget, could be the stepping stone to something truly amazing and epic. Then if the movie did well with sales and the public, they could make it a series, and/or maybe even a movie Trilogy (Part 1, 2 , and 3.).
Not a lie, My wife works for the airline, so i flew for free, plus i have family living in AK so stay and transportation was free, all of the actors are family and friends donated thair time on the weekends, same with most of props, i borrowed what ever i could, so, on the whole production i spent about $150 out of my pocket, that's it!
Aaron Richards You know, I don't give a shit no more. Who knows how big are the lies they are telling us...and hell, I sure as hell can't change what they are doing. I'd rather live without fear then let the news tell me who to fear most today.
I was very moved by this trailer and the soundtrack you had behind it. While at first, I thought it was a movie with those cheesy Sci-Fi channel movie graphics, I read that this is a small group making this and not some rich Hollywood fellas. That makes this more impressive and the plot was what really drew me in.
Good job! This is great! I didn't know people made trailers for movies that don't exist, but I think it's a cool-ass idea. I've now seen a couple here on UA-cam. Like the "Aquaman" one. But yours is the coolest by far. $150 budget and you did a spectacular job! Well done my friend! ♥
At first I was surprised that an american movie gave credit to another country (Russia) for something as simple as deciphering the code, then I kept watching...... Reminds me of "Independence Day": Brit on the comms: "The Americans have a plan" Other Brit Soldier: "Well it's about bloody time! What do they want us to do?"
its about time I've seen a trailer that shows a concept to a movie i would gladly pay to go see! I too am working on a project myself and watching this proves to me that it is possible! no matter how much i struggle i will persevere! thanks man! after all they say the best ones start of small and grow incredibly powerful! good luck dood! you got my support!
Cool concept....bad acting and cheesy graphics though. With the right director it could be epic. U'd love to see Zach Synder direct this with a great screenwriter who develps the script.
Frank White : No, a films quality can not be measured just in how much it makes at the box office. Some truly wondrous movies flopped at the box office, yet they were masterpieces in their own rights. Shawshank Redemption, Blade Runner, Citizen Kane, to name a few, failed at the box office. Zack Snyder's work is decent enough, but he tends to stick to the tried and true formula when it comes to the plot instead of creating something new.
Vogel Well I never said a films quality was measured at the box office, but it’s the loudest measure of the public’s interest. People who really like a movie tend to vote with their wallets and if the movie “sucks” it doesn’t go on to make close to a billion dollars. Whether a movie is great or sucks is subjective, just like the films you mentioned above. Mixed bag of opinions on all three. There’s just as many people who consider them great as people who think they’re overrated or just didn’t like them at all. Shawshank actually made a few million more at the box office than it’s production budget and went on to make an additional $30 million overseas and another $80 million in video rental sales. Citizen Kane made double its budget and Blade Runner flopped at the box office because it opened the same the same time as The Thing, Star Trek II and E.T which made close to a billion dollars. It most likely made its money back though rentals though so it’s not like those movies were turds either.
Impressive, inspiring and ... Just bravo! May many more outstanding work like this will rise. May your trailler becomes a hudge movie. May God Bless you, thank you. For sharing with the worl
That is a great spin on an alien invasion!!! They act as though they are the good guys and get us to build weapons to fight the bad aliens just to find out they were the bad aliens in the first place!!! AWESOME idea!!! Go with it, MAKE THIS MOVIE!!! I have never seen this spin before!!! GREAT IDEA!!
Looks like a Robotech/Mechwarrior version of Falling Skies. Aliens invade, and use integrated humans to help fight the war. Interesting concept, but really nothing new here.
Alex, this is a fantastic idea. This needs to be done as a full movie. The idea of the Russians masterminding an "alien" invasion is brilliant. Your special effects are unbelievable, given your budget. There are so many crap films out there that have somehow managed to secure funding. Your concept needs crowd funding. Remember, Lucas did the original Star Wars on a $10million budget and nowadays, that money would be easy to raise. Please stay with this. It WILL pay off!!
This film should be made with some of the biggest names in movie making history and amazing plot twists with breath taking animations and sets make it happen and get the big names to listen
its not an actual trailer, its a concept for a movie, and its actually really good, it wasn't directed or made on a huge budget, and they still managed to pull some amazing CGI
they should hire you in hollywood. 150$ is a really small budget and you made a great concept trailer with this. Haters gonna hate but i do appreciate your skill and I wish you the very best. Cheers from Poland bro!
Trust me I know how it feels to do EVERYTHING by yourself... I myself am in the same situation relying on what I learn to make that best out of a project but when there's a will there's a way and I support ya! My passion is composing film scores.. You have a friend in NYC!!
I think the idea that they of getting us to build weapons for them to use in an invasion is a good idea, however when you show the ships coming and blowing the crap out of everything with death rays or whatever it kind of defeats the purpose of having us build machines. soldiers behind enemy lines is also a nice touch. I've always wanted to see an alien invasion movie in which we don't miraculously win, lets face it if aliens did invade we would have no chance.
I just want to add that it is mostly the red mech's that stand out. If they were done a little better the whole piece would have benefited. Great work and congrats on achieving the finished product. I know how long these productions can take and how much effort is needed.
holy shit, this looks great :D you should send this to universal & co, i think they would say yes because its amazing details in story and action. good luck guys, i wish you the best :D
This is a very interesting concept and has some merit to it. You can troll it all you want but the reality is that some one has some vision and wants a chance to bring it to the fore front to bring you entertainment. I wish you the best in getting this concept off the ground.
wow alex am completely outstanded man...u used not only ur environment but also u use cgi effects to the max that hollywood find difficult to create and also ur script is amazing u gave mankind a last hope man in the movie i know david vs goliath but goliath vs godzilla now lol amazing movie pls do the movie :)
This "movie" just changed plots 6 different times. First it was about alien messages, then about friendly aliens helping, then those aliens using us, then a war, then only 2 men, then about those two men who get in a robot and do something stupid.
More like a 'proof of concept' for potential investors than a trailer. There ARE a lot of good ideas here, so it would be nice to see fully developed and out there.
The first Chinese investment occurred in October 2010 with the state-owned Chinese energy giant CNOOC buying a multibillion-dollar stake in 600,000 acres of South Texas oil and gas fields. CNOOC announced that it would pay up to $2.2 billion for a one-third stake in Chesapeake Energy assets.
I agree about the rest of it, but as a former grunt myself (with a 179 IQ), I'd like to point out that the stereotype of "dumb grunts" is often completely off. My company commander back in Ft. Polk was a nuclear physicist who just happened to carry an M-16, and there were more than a few of us who maxed out the US military's ASVAB or came really close to doing so. Granted, there's a few who couldn't qualify for anything else, but I wouldn't automatically discount the grunts.
Pretty awesome concept, man. I feel the dialogue felt a little weak and cliched at times, but that's a fairly minor gripe. Overall though, I like the whole resistance idea, and you did a great job with the animation, too. Nice work.
Indeed, a very good effort and what I find exciting is the effects technology for compelling Science Fiction is now coming into the hand of the amateur. The recent Half Life spin off short films have been a good example of that.
Yes brilliant idea of a movie and a nice twist in the middle of it. If Neil Johnson can make moves then so should this guy! But give him a bigger budget stronger cast and this will be ten times better than any Neil Johnson movie that he's done! I do hope that this gets made into a full movie.
I like the way this looks. I would really like to see a fully budgeted version of this movie hit the screens. Even as an under budgeted concept trailer, I think it looks good. Don't listen to the naysayers, get me this movie!
I'm amazed how much storytelling you got done in 5 minutes! The idea of an alien race manipulating one nation's desire to possess the most advanced weaponry and their willingness to sacrifice human rights to get them is brilliant! Much more believable than the new Red Dawn remake coming out! My only quibble: it doesn't look believable if your big super advanced cyborgs can be taken down by a 5.56mm weapon or a sawed off shotgun! Maybe .50 cal Barret rifles would look better? Just saying....
I would have so went to watch this in fact looks like it would be a awesome Movie. Covering how our Countries would actually react to such a Message from Space, and 1 story of a mans struggle makes for a interesting plot Pilot looks great!!!
Everyone that says anything negative about shorts have to realize that Hollywood actors and producers have millions of dollars at their disposal, the person/'s that made this probably did not. Great Job and keep it up, who knows this might end up on the movie screen someday.

Yeah, just take a look at the American foreign policy in the Middle East, and read between the lines...
manofTao Tell me, why did you turn my comment about movie plots into a political statement?
cccomo
It has been done before - I'm digging through my classic sci-fi collection to see which author it was - Asimov, Clarke, Niven, Poul, someone of that generation, I seem to recall.

OK, I have to admit, the tactic the aliens used was actually pretty clever...
To me I think the "non-hostile" aliens were the invaders, telling the humans to build there own enemies.
Connor Dunning
DUH...they said that in the trailer..weren't you listening?
So why did they even bother making up this elaborate plan with mechs if they had giant Independence Day/Mass Effect lasers that they scorched the planet with?

By looks of it, it was more likely a high school

Wow, that escalated quickly
Half life 3 confirmed

***** This is more like test footage used to get someone to promote the idea and make a full scale movie with funding out of it.
This would be better as a tv series, a movie saga would not be enough to sufficiently tell the story.
What about a movie to start and introduce the series? You know? The movie if done right with lets say a 50 Million Dollar Budget, could be the stepping stone to something truly amazing and epic. This would make an epic video game.....
This was the first thing that went thru my mind as well.
I like the concept. The naysayers don't know how to dream.
WOW, so aliens are the thread, but they somehow made Russians the enemy again?
Classic...
Aaron Richards wut? 0-o
Aaron Richards You know, I don't give a shit no more. Who knows how big are the lies they are telling us...and hell, I sure as hell can't change what they are doing. I'd rather live without fear then let the news tell me who to fear most today.
jusk Russians always make Americans the enemy and by the way this is a low budget b movie
Can you name a few movies?
And no shit, this looks like it's all made on a phone.
I was very moved by this trailer and the soundtrack you had behind it. While at first, I thought it was a movie with those cheesy Sci-Fi channel movie graphics, I read that this is a small group making this and not some rich Hollywood fellas. Great stuff. I have nothing but admiration for people who have the imagination and ambition to put something like this together.
At first I was surprised that an american movie gave credit to another country (Russia) for something as simple as deciphering the code, then I kept watching......
Reminds me of "Independence Day":
Brit on the comms: "The Americans have a plan"
Other Brit Soldier: "Well it's about bloody time! What do they want us to do?"
Oh i tought you're using elites xD
Me 2 and the guns they were holding looked like halo 3 BRs
Looks like a mash up of Destiny and Titanfall !
Martina Vazquez ~ more like a cheap ripoff of starcraft, it even has goliaths!
its about time I've seen a trailer that shows a concept to a movie i would gladly pay to go see! Thanks man, appreciate your support!
At the rate we are polluting the planet, no "intelligent beings" will want it. I mean, you don't want to invade the junk yard do you?
I would.....lol
Depends on what they want. Fissile material? Iron and other metals? Rare earth elements? Slaves?
Haha xD
Josh Porter if they are looking for organic material we are screwed xD
The junk yard can make a tank out of parts like that mad max movie
I see they went for the Avatar route of giving away the whole story in the trailer! I know its only a concept trailer, good job though :)
Cool concept....bad acting and cheesy graphics though. With the right director it could be epic. U'd love to see Zach Synder direct this with a great screenwriter who develps the script.
all of zach synder's film's suck, sorry pick somebody better.
LOL...well 300 and Man of Steel looked great and made about a billion combined if they truly sucked they would've flopped.
Frank White :

captain pinky your wrong.... Nothing else to say.
i like how on all short films the staple for plot development assistance are "News Reports and Footage"
Better than "Instagram and Hearsay"
This is a really great imaginitive original concept! Love to see further development!
wow that cg looks like it is running on the original xbox o_O
lol good thing the US saved the day again...phew. i was beginning to think the story was original
Did we just watch the entire movie?
Started like the movie "Contact", ended like the movie "Pacific Rim" spiced with a little "Independence day"
one of the truly greatest stories i've seen for a #1 movie box office smash! Hope Lucas picks up on it and does it with you. Dont change a thing!!!!
Can I make a financial investment into this project.
+Honey Ryder I might do a kickstarter for it this year :)
Yes you may if you are serious about it
You know what this film needs? More lens flare.
great story but the graghics
SUCKS
great comment, but the spelling
that's my tarded kid for ya
GMackzy Great comment, but the grammar.
GMackzy Great rebuttal, but the missing period.

Enough already with the fucking 'Inception' trailer music!!!

This is amazing. I lack words to describe just how brilliant this is. Thumbs up!
''trailer''? feels like i don't need to watch the movie since this trailer already told all that is gonna happen. nice plottwist tho
Those are supposed to be Elites from the Halo Universe ?
Mediocre at best until they broke out the mech. I guess that settles it, mechs make ANYTHING better.
For a concept trailer, this was pretty darned good. What do people expect? High production values? The haters should try making one themeselves.
great job!!! truly and impressive feat, I can see you moving up very quickly. Best of luck.
This would be a much better trailer if it was way shorter. You're telling way too much of the story.
cool idea, too bad they had a three-year-old animate it.
Same idea in all new US cinema, "Russians will invate to US to destroy nation" Does you not tired of this drivel?
That is a lot for just one movie, maybe a miniseries, or a trilogy. I hope to see it one day.
This film should be made with some of the biggest names in movie making history and amazing plot twists with breath taking animations and sets make it happen and get the big names to listen
This is a rip off from Robotech, from the second series the Robotech masters, bio-roids, with Zor Prime and Dana sterling.
bio-roids? there's a cream for that
i love robotech.
Wow! This movie would make "Independence Day" and "Battlefield Earth" look like Oscar contenders.
its not an actual trailer, its a concept for a movie, and its actually really good, it wasn't directed or made on a huge budget, and they still managed to pull some amazing CGI
they should hire you in hollywood. 150$ is a really small budget and you made a great concept trailer with this. Haters gonna hate but i do appreciate your skill and I wish you the very best. Cheers from Poland bro!
The music i'am referring to starts around 2:42 till they find Goliath. Thank You. I love what you directed. totally good.
Trust me I know how it feels to do EVERYTHING by yourself... I myself am in the same situation relying on what I learn to make that best out of a project but when there's a will there's a way and I support ya!
My passion is composing film scores.. You have a friend in NYC!!
the bio-soldier look exactly like elites from Halo. Not complaining, they look friggin awesome.
I'm Hearing Haters trying to be negative about this mans work we should be supporting him he did good
I think the idea that they of getting us to build weapons for them to use in an invasion is a good idea, however when you show the ships coming and blowing the crap out of everything with death rays or whatever it kind of defeats the purpose of having us build machines. soldiers behind enemy lines is also a nice touch. Man I hope you get to make this a feature one day! Im all fired up to see it now.
Brilliant!! I would pay to see that film! Few tweeks here and there and u have a multi million pound film!
Having Adagio in your sci-fi is like having godmode enabled on your vidya game
Great concept well exicuted...you deserve a shot at bringing this in...especially as next year seems to be the year of the Mech.
This "movie" just changed plots 6 different times. First it was about alien messages, then about friendly aliens helping, then those aliens using us, then a war, then only 2 men, then about those two men who get in a robot and do something stupid.
Thanks man, this concept short is just a setup, the movie takes place mostly after the Aliens got most of the population of the planet under control
Loved the premise. They should really think about making this into a movie with a huge budget.
More like a 'proof of concept' for potential investors than a trailer. There ARE a lot of good ideas here, so it would be nice to see fully developed and out there.

Looks pretty good considering, looks like it would've been so much fun to play in this movie.
I like this. I would pay money to see this movie. Great work!!!!!

This is a great plot of a movie. I hope it gets made. I look forward to seeing it. Great twist!
That was a cool plot - get the enemy to build the army for you..
Now I actually read the description. Wow! Only one guy! Even bigger congratulations !
This looks really good, I hope that it has a convincing story and excellent direction. I would definately watch this.
Now Hollywood, this is the kind of movie we wanna see.
I liked it. If you make this into a full blown movie, I'd watch it.
This seems like a pretty good concept movie. I like the story
This is better than most of what i saw on kickstarter. I would go and see this.
Very cool! Looking forward to watching this when it comes out! Good luck!
kinda looks like the Elites from Halo, but i like it ;) keep going, its a fantastic work!
Indeed, a very good effort and what I find exciting is the effects technology for compelling Science Fiction is now coming into the hand of the amateur. The recent Half Life spin off short films have been a good example of that.
This it is 100 times better than the second Starship Trooper movie. I'd watch it, with this special effects and acting and everything.
Yes brilliant idea of a movie and a nice twist in the middle of it. If Neil Johnson can make moves then so should this guy! But give him a bigger budget stronger cast and this will be ten times better than any Neil Johnson movie that he's done! I do hope that this gets made into a full movie.
Good thing we had this mech lying around that no one bothered to use the 1st time they attacked us.
I would pay to see that movie. You did an amazing job. I hope you make it full length
Lol, was there a Crysis 2 map in the backround when the soldier talks about destroying the mothership?^^
Awesome non the less dude.
Awesome concept and production... Make it happen!!!
Awesum Concept. I hope you get to actually have this made into a movie. I would go see it.
Good luck.
This looks great from what I can see. You have real idea here and if you are lucky enough to get it on screen, then I would be happy to see it.
looks like a great concept movie to bring Battletech to the big screen!
I like the way this looks. I would really like to see a fully budgeted version of this movie hit the screens. Even as an under budgeted concept trailer, I think it looks good. Don't listen to the naysayers, get me this movie!
