Thank you so much for your kind words 🥺 they are so meaningful! I have a podcast called drinks with defenders where my cohost and I talk all things criminal defense, I would love to hear what you think if you ever check it out! 💖
It's not over the people are waking up and realizing that the system really is a game and like George Carlin said its a club and we aren't in it if you listen to George Carlin you will hear him trying to wake everyone up from being sheeple and we have to stop getting upset about being ignorant of the law and learn about whatever it is and stop being ignorant thanks.
I could never be on a jury I don’t trust the police, da, Ada I say not guilty these people are making things up the juries should see all of this and make sure the people get off not guilty
Georgia Kaplan is on her fourth trial in the Dan Markel case! Georgia is absolutely amazing!True crime has 95% women we have a better brain for solving cases! Loved your guest🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
My felony charge was a blessing in that it opened up my eyes during my 5 yr probation period I got sober. Still 34 yrs plus sober. Would love to share my story. I didn't even do the crime. DA don't care they just want a conviction
Great interview, and you definitely won me over, on your abilities by the end. I’m curious if you’re treated differently by your colleagues, since you haven’t passed the bar, and if you intend to take it eventually?
I’m so glad you enjoyed the interview! Honestly, a lot of people took diploma privilege during Covid so no one has given me a hard time about it. I really do think the bar is dumb since it doesn’t even nessaeily test you on the applicable laws from your jurisdiction 🤷🏻♀️ I think the only reason I would ever take it, is if I was moving somewhere that required it!
Amen(!) to the INjustice in the justice system and your best bet being TO STAY OUT OF THE SYSTEM. Avoid it at all costs. My personal advice: Don't ever even call 911 if its going to involve cops, sheriff's, highway patrol, etc. except in the most dire of circumstances.
There are cases where a person can be a judge without a law degree or being an attorney. Some will make you scratch your head and others make sense. In some instances they are “administrative judges” who are filling the role of an arbitrator. In these cases they are subject matter experts and usually know more on the specific subject. For instance a retired state trooper who spent 30 years working commercial traffic. He is now employed as a judge hearing cases of commercial traffic violations. Many times when you hear that a judge isn’t required to be an attorney. It may simply mean that the person is not required to be an active attorney (a member of the bar).
Out of all the trouble I got in, the best lawyer I had was a female public defender, way better than the most expensive male, Jewish lawyer in my state,
@@Ink30like in her state, in many states private attorneys can contract to take cases as public defenders. I knew of one very successful and expensive attorney. About two years after selling his firm and retiring he began taking cases as a public defender. The majority of his cases, he would have never been able to afford him. Some say that he got bored in retirement. I also heard that he survived a case of cancer that should have killed him and this was his way of giving back
@@ianbickCT HI I just wanted to say thanks this was a fantastic interview and you always have great questions and got me really thinking about everything going on with the American laws and justice it really is insane tell her that was a great way to inspire other women to look into studying laws and codes even inspiring me lol have a great day.
The guy didnt take you seriously as an attorney because he knew you needed far less gpa, and LSAT scores to get into and be retained in law school due to your identity. Sad because you may be a great attorney but dei practices create stigma....
I love your channel. I don't enjoy the f word though. You two are too intelligent, respected professionals ,and I find I lose respect for people in your positins who talk trashy. I hope you consider this in future presentations.
She's definitely an Attorney cause she's already giving bad and wrong advice on taking your case to trial. P.S.. had to turn this off when I heard she didn't need to take the bar
Nobody's gonna discriminate Ian Bick. He says he's weird. Big deal. He's putting himself in the same kind of discrimination category as this guest lawyer. What a dip shyt. This dude doesn't even read or reply to any comments of people who don't give him money. He pan handles all day long and thinks he's discriminated against. That is so arrogant. Condescending & Wrong!
wtf🤣 I think you fell off your bed and hit your head. Oh, while he said he’s weird. He also said he would never not want to be weird and the people that don’t like you the way you are f**k em. and I totally agree. I’m definitely weird people think I’m off my rocker kind of weird, but that’s just who I am and I’m OK with that but you went off on some kind of tangent and only you know what that means absolutely no sense.
Oregon n Washington…..wonder why these states ruled a law diploma would suffice vs having to pass a bar exam. Any idea? I wasn’t aware all judges were prosecuting attorneys. Interesting……so we are innocent until proven guilty but with the bias is immediately against the defense. Scary 😂. She has 60 clients…..no wonder my attorney never responded to my text messages….lol. He didn’t have time to text because he probably has 100 DUI clients here in the Florida Keys. 🤷🏻♂️💰💰💰
I think the idea is that they want to expand pathways into the profession in order to make legal remedies more accessible to people by making more attorneys. I’m clearly biased, but the bar really is dumb. It doesn’t even necessarily test you on the laws that would be applicable in your jurisdiction 🤷🏻♀️ as far as all of the cases go, I’d be really curious to know if Florida has any case limits for the public defenders! Lastly, not all judges are former prosecutors, but most are in my experiences and from what I’ve heard! 👩⚖️
Ian , big fan of your podcast. This was 1 of the best 🎉. Your host was amazing. Keep up the excellent job brother.🇵🇦👏

Are the two of you facing the same direction when it cuts back and forth between you and the guest on purpose or is that an editing error?
I had switched my camera angle a while ago and realized it looked weird so I switched it back but had a lot of episodes recorded in advance

You should try and get Booker T on the show
You have to
to be a lawyer in order to be judge in any state in America. It would be really weird if that was not the case.
It surprised me too!

It’s such an interesting case. I’m surprised the Court ruled that the defense can’t bring up alternative suspects!
