    Wow. That's the genuine article -- a real puukko, the #1 tool in the Såmi ("Lapp") tool kit, made in the traditional style. Extremely impressive.

      @@JackMackWoodturning You're welcome, and I forgot to mention a book you may already be aware of. It's called Knifemaking: a Complete Guide to Crafting Knives, Handles, and Sheaths, by Bo Bergman (translation from Swedish, 1997). Like you, he had the blades hand-forged and he did the rest. Some of his sheaths are wood and leather both. Hell of a lot of info in the book.
      One of his most intriguing designs is what he calls his prehistoric knife. The blade is sort of sled-shaped, with the handle at 90 degrees to it. But it's not like an Inuit ulu, either. The handle is a big fistful, so you can press down hard. I imagine it's for cutting thick leather, but maybe for chopping through frozen reindeer meat as well.

    Ohhhhh yeah, Mr. Jack Mack...it is a wonderful experience to see you are a man of unlimited talents!! I noticed that you have aquired a few owies along the way, but in a sense, what better badges of showing your fearless, hands-on skills to try new with the old. More proof that your mind and hands are quite capable of extraordinary works with all kinds and sorts of materials. It's stunning to think where these new ideas will take you. All the possibilities ahead... WoW...just WoW!! Again, Mr. Jack, thank you kindly for letting us all see you continue to grow, and continue with great work. Fantastic knife btw, anxiously awaiting your next ideas come to life!! 😳😁👍

    I don't see the link to the blade manufacturer but I bet "JP" stands for Jouko Pirppu who makes exellent knives from start to finnish.

    • @JackMackWoodturning
      @JackMackWoodturning  Місяць тому

      So sorry. Iv added it now JP stands for Julius Pettersson. You can buy his blades from Woodlore website and he was also featured on a very old ray Mears episode.
