I have a couple of comments to the restorer. The sheath is made out of leather, so I would put it in a glass containing thin oil and let it soak. I would resown it, not have used glue. I am not mad at you, I think the result is good, but it could have been better. 👍
Another stellar restoration!!! A beautiful job despite what the “experts” say!!! I wonder how many restorations they have done… Well done sir!! The Old Army Scout…
Those sheaths were made from a type of fiberboard, similair to gasket material. It's a type of mock leather that was used in lots of applications before plastics took over in the 60's.
nice work - guess i'll have to give moraknifes another look, they seem pretty urable :) q - do you take normal spraycolor/coating for leather, or do you take a special one?
To restore leather, it's MUCH better to use *_flexible_* CA glue than the regular CA glue you used for the stitching, or the epoxy you used for the tip. These _destroy_ the leather by rigidly bonding to it, making it brittle - it WILL eventually break around the glued area. Flexible CA glue, on the other hand, also bonds to leather (in fact, it bonds at a molecular level - CA glue was actually developed to glue surgical wounds together) but allows it to remain flexible - glue repaired with flexible CA glue is as wood repaired with PVA glue: actually stronger than the original material.
I would have done a few things differently, but wouldn't say so. I would not have embarrassed someone by publicly pointing out what I thought were his errors.
@@daveneumann8106 Dude, sharing better techniques with a fellow maker is not "publicly embarrassing" him - it's giving tips for the next project. _Maaaaaybe_ you have too thin of a skin if you believe that any criticism is negative. I strongly advice you to change that attitude in life: not poining out what could be improved leads directly to things never improving. @@ReXtorer I see. Still, know that the flexible CA advice holds true also for plastics or rubber. (The flexible version was in fact developed to glue rubber. That it works so well on leather is just an added bonus).

Thank you!
An excellent, tasteful and original restoration, as always 👏🏻

You are absolutely right. The blade and the wood came out very nice, but the sheath now looks unnatural like plastic.
The scabbard is made of plastic. They were once painted with transparent varnish.
The scabbard is made of plastic. I made them the way they used to be
PERFECT MY FRIEND! 👌👌👌
@ReXtorer Sown plastic? Now I have seen everything 😯. But great jobb anyway 👍.
Excellent skills and a superb restoration. Thank you for sharing. 👏👏😀🇭🇲👏👏
Lovely knife. I have many Moras but that is a beauty!

I agree. Always someone who feels compelled to point out what they think are the errors of others.
@@daveneumann8106 That is how progress is made. If you aren't a little baby you can learn from it.
Its beautiful
Looks great. I’d be a happy owner if this was mine.
I am very impressed at how well you restored the moulded plastic sheath.

Nice work dude. Great technique 👍👍
Magnifique 😊😊
nice one dude
Beau travail, bravo.
I would say that is from the 1940-1950. Nice restoration! Next time, no glue on the scabbard 😉
beautiful knife
Dope AF results, @ReXtorer!

Thank you! The scabbard is made of plastic. I use transparent varnish.
Definitely sew or use a pliable glue like rubber cement made for leather. CA glue is hard and can crack or break with use. Nice job! 🎸🔪
You did one almost identical 1 month ago!
It was a different knife from a different manufacturer
I smiled with joy for the knife, I cried for the sheath..
Why?
@ReXtorer super glue, filler and spray paint.. That does not belong on a nice old leather sheath..
@@DaemonsBane It's not leather. This is a polymer
@@ReXtorer why would polymer have stitches.?

Thanks for the advice! But this is not a leather scabbard, but a plastic one...

I think the Mora was made in the 50’s or early 60’s from the handle shape. 🎸🔪
Look into the proper restoration of leather.
How and with what to clean and repair old leather
For a time, I was unaware that linseed oil was something I had in my kitchen.

You missed a crack in the handle.

Not gonna lie, you butchered that sheath. The knife turned out pretty nice, though.
