    AIDS truly was a death sentence in the 80s and early 90s. Thank god it isn't the case now. This man seems really really honest and brave to tell it as it is. RIP Jamie!

    It’s crazy how they where so prejudice back then. it must have been terrifying when you where diagnosed back in the 80s, thrown out of your housing, fired from your job, your family and friends turning their back on you. Horrific, human beings are a disgusting race, we never learn from our ur past mistakes. I’m so glad that there is excellent medication available now for hiv + people and they can go on and live a full happy life.

      There is a James Ramsey Shrode on the AIDS Quilt. I looked up that full name and according to the obituary of his relative, James passed away in October 1986. It's sad to know that he didn't make it far beyond his appearance on Sally's show.

      It's interesting Adam, I've seen your hostile comments below other videos about AIDS and wonder what it is that draws you to watching them. You don't have to watch them. Are you drawn to them through homophobia?

    • @adamwalker2377
      @adamwalker2377 2 роки тому

      @@RC-hc8lp no, periodic interest. I usually study something for a while and then move on. For a while I was interested in how the 80s and 90s viewed AIDS. It's interesting to view it in hindsight.Particularly since the solution A) was clear from the data, and B) aligned with what every culture before ours wasn't to afraid to say.
      "Homophobia" is a solipsistic defense mechanism against the normal shame felt when the rest of us don't silence our common sense about what is normal and what is a perversion and in one voice (throughout all places and times) say that it's a perversion.
      To be fair, that kind of universal opposition to what you think of as your identity must suck. It's not surprising that defense mechanisms arise.
      You can't blame us. It's the same instinct that causes normal people to have the same involuntary physiological reaction to homosexuality that we have to seeing a pile of maggots.
      It's the same instinct that prevents us from eating spoiled food or drinking poison or taking stupid risks. It's not reasonable to expect us to shut it off.
