3/4/2021 Wahl KM Cordless charging problems

- Neither my old (approx 2 years old) or new clippers are working cordless. The new ones are straight out of the box but are about 6 months old as I bought them to use if my older ones malfunctioned. Which they did yesterday, but then the new clippers wouldn’t work either. Very frustrating,
Old clippers had blade drive replaced about 6 months ago.

I sent both pairs back to Wahl in Kent (I’m in the UK) and they returned them fixed in under a week. Cost me £36.50 each which is annoying but a lot cheaper than buying new ones! I’ve no idea what was wrong with them and they didn’t send any info back with them, but they are working fine and I have been using them for a month now now problems. Will update again if any future issues.
Wahl has a really expensive dedicated 10.5 v (weird voltage for li ion) small 3 small battery pack. 3.7v X 3 = 11.1v, so 10.5v is weird, includes a resistor in the pack. Also repair cost means they didn't replace the battery, so likely a charging issue, so test cords and connections, solder points. Don't drop your clippers. (I bought a whole new charger for my laptop once and it was just one single cat hair that got stuck in the plug in point.) The weird battery puts me off Wahl cordless a little. Wahl has a reputation for really good customer service here in the States if you reach out to them, though.
Correction: Wahl clipper batteries are rated at 10.8V not 10.5V and that is a voltage size you can find in generic Li ion battery packs. Just got to get the dimensional size to fit in the clippers and get the right polarity and plug. Generic would probably be much cheaper than geniune Wahl I see available. . . if you are handy.
I'm having the same problem, mine only work while plugged in but mine aren't even displaying a light. They've only been used maybe 3 times and are out of warranty next week. I don't want to post them to whal because I'm worried they could get lost in the post.

I’m having the same problem, I’ve used my pair for a total of 2hrs, and they no longer work off the charger. I’m going to call wahl and ask for a replacement or fix, I refuse to pay anymore money for them considering the product didn’t hold up.
I was watching a video on Northern Tails sharpening UA-cam channel and they were talking about problems with the Heiniger chargables shutting off and the problem turned out to be with blades that were not cleaned and/or freely moving enough. This however, seems like a battery/charging problem. Although sticky blades might wear things down quicker. Also, it is good to know that lithium ion batteries like to hang out around 40% charge and that is recommended charge for storing a li ion battery. They really don't like over charging or being run all the down either. I don't know why they don't just make a clipper that would work with a 18650 and you could just replace that and even charge separately if necessary. A good 18650 like they use in Teslas will hold 3000mA! A new Heiniger battery is a wimpy 1800mA. Oh heck, I own a $20 cheap Chinese trimmer with an easily replaceable 18650 Li ion battery that works like that, but it is not a heavy duty full work clipper. I can now get various blades for it on Ali Express, though, which is a new development. I am looking at buying a Wahl or a Heiniger cordless. Personally, (just me, don't necessarily recommend) I wouldn't be above hacking into the clipper and replacing the cylindrical battery, but that would be less risky on a Heiniger removeable. The circuitry that manages charging might not like being hacked with a new battery.
Where the code and battery made from? I don’t think it’s motor problem !
I’ve just bought my first pair of these, and they are doing exactly what your newer pair was doing. Red light when you plug it in, can turn it on when plugged in (but they definitely aren’t full speed) and they never charge so nothing happens when you unplug them. Considering they are new out of the box, this is really frustrating!
Hey Kara! The same happened to me just yesterday, worst part is I live in Venezuela and we don't have any kind of customer service for Wahl here, it'll cost a lot to take it back to the US to have them replaced there. Did they offer you any kind of solution? Thank you in advance!
wähl has 5 year warranty on these clippers have you tried sending them in for repair?
Not in the UK I'm afraid. It's 12 months only. I called them to check this before buying. US 5 yrs, EU 2 years, but after Brexit we now get a measley 1 year.
Mine do the same thing and now they won’t work at all even when plugged in

Having the same issue will be sending back to whal to have fixed.
Bought a pair and they wouldn’t work out of box. Bought a 2nd pair and they worked one time now won’t hold a charge. Very disappointing from a so called good brand
Used once. Now this issue. WTF i sent alot on these.
Mine won’t charge. I can’t seem to find the correct replacement cord for them.
You have to call wahl they will send you one for free , that’s what I did but it didn’t fix the problem with my clippers anyway

Probeble a bad batterij in site
