I troll people online sometimes. In real life I score 94% trait agreeableness, am the most loving and caring person you’ll meet. But occasionally I see someone online say or post the most ridiculous things, and I’ll be rude to them, correct them or call them out. I think online it’s a common thing, because people do say the most ridiculous things, that in the past they would have kept in their head instead of saying it. I don’t have an ounc of sadism in me. Can not stand seeing anyone or anything suffer under any circumstances, so I don’t think my trolling is at all related to sadism. However, I don’t troll in the sense of saying things just to be cruel, I troll in the sense that I react to people saying false things that are destructive to society.
Women have hormonal, evolutionary and genetically evolved to be caregivers and nurturers, so they naturally are much higher in empathy, making it far more rare to see a woman on the dark triad. They do exist of course, but are very rare.
Lack of empathy is a big one
