Ronald is the truth, man. All these guys are top-notch, but Ronald can play anything.
How lucky are we to see a true master at his craft? Big props to ALL these musicians. I'm a drummer so I gotta call out Ronald...that dude is ridiculously talented.
This amazing drummer is the brother of the great bassist, Thundercat. ❤️
Thundercat “I was going to play drums until Ronald sat down at the kit….so I switched to bass”
Check out kamasai Washington both Ronald and thundercat play in Kamasi’ incredible jazz band
I guess this is from the kamasi session!
The great bassis is brother of this Drummer
This was WoW news to me… thanks for sharing
My man is beating the hell out the drums
100%
Yeah!! exactly!!🤣
These cats are the real deal. Absolutely brilliant… 😊
That drummer man 😭
Jazz the musical life-force of the world
Shout out to the parent holding the baby…living witness that this style of music is a game changer at that age
That is Terrace's wife and daughter
Ronald Bruner is the greatest to have ever touched the drums
I literally just found out about Ronald Bruner Jr. because of this video and had to do my research on him:
Bruner Jr.'s dad (Ronald Bruner Sr.) was arguably one of the biggest names in drumming during his time, playing with the likes of Diana Ross & The Temptations. Bruner Jr. has been playing since he was a kid, and began his professional career at 15! Needless to say, lotsa hard work + one dank environment for playing created this beast of a drummer.
I re-watched this vid a couple times and I am still shook, can't get enough... WILD. This man became a reference to me from the moment the video started playing.
The genius runs in the family. One guy helped produce one of the greatest drummers and bassists of all time. Bruner Bros. are something special
Glad we opened that door for you! Check out our other JammJams and dive into some other musicians. A lot of giants that the world is yet to know about
Also to add to your comment. His whole family is musically inclined. His brother is famously known as “Thundercat”.
I love the way Terrace Martin look at the end of even his bandmates known Bruner Jr. is gifted
Who noticed Eric moore recording Ronald brunner... Love and respect in the air
That's what the JammJams are about!
Anything this drummer does out of time is the most groovy shit I've ever heard, please do more
This is a portion from the Grey Area video from 2020 with Kamasi Washington. One of the top 5 Jammcard sessions
100%!! Thank you!
Good GOD!!!!!! Amazing.
The pure emotion that Terrace and tbe drummer were playing with. I never thought this type of jazz was for me but I really enjoyed that ❤️
That drummer is Thundercat’s brother!!
I really appreciate hearing that from you. . .just like myself when i succumbed to jazz some 50 yrs ago....high energy!
@@Nug_Lord whatttt you just blew my mind!
@@BryceRogers_ you should check out the self titled album “Young Jazz Giants” - features Stephen Bruner on bass, Ronald Bruner Jr. on drums (Thundercat and his younger brother), Kamasi Washington on sax and Cameron Graves on piano!
@@Nug_Lord highly second this comment! That album contains my favorite rendition of Giant Steps. Such powerful stuff from such a young group (think they were like 19-22)
A Genius is a Genius!
BRUNER JR 🔥🔥🔥
Big Ron putting in work. It’s nice to hear some loose and free improv with players who can pull it off in a setting that’s not 100% acoustic.
Jazz royalty in the making here…❤
Absolutely
When Eric Moore is filming you….you can play drums
Eric Moore & Ron known each other for years 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
THAT PART - respect between drum pillars of td
The legend Mr. Carmack standing in the back !
What amazes me is that they look like they Know what they are doing.. 😭💖💖
Giant steps reference was funnn 5:28
Paul Cornish is an amazing musician, we played in the Summer Jazz Workshop in Houston when he was young, younger than he is now along with his brother who played with Kanye West choir. The Cornish family is very talented, I'm just glad and blessed to just witness it.
That's amazing you are lucky JK!
Great drummer Eric Moore in the sparkling gold jacket
The drummer OMG!!
One of the best alive!
Great stuff by stellar musicians !!!
I loved the vibe Paul Cornish put in his solo, what great harmonic colours, beautiful, and Joshua on bass in really solid with great rhythmic ideas too, GREAT 4tet.
Just pure love. Bless.
this drummer is not human
Love that there’s a baby out there jamming. Jazz is for the kids!!
Core memory activated!
That was lit! Thanks for sharing this incredible music here.
Love it.........!!
What a fantastic lyrics
Bruner, Terrace love it!
Pure uncut dope
Dope!
Bruner is goated.
GOAT Lord
The Bruner's are goated lol.
Not only Thundercat, but their brother Jameel is a former member of The Internet (with Steve Lacy, Syd and Patrick Paige II)
Epoustouflant !!!
This shit is ridiculous 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I needed this for my soul... good looking out peoples...
RBJ.. That's all I have to say.🔥🥁🔥
R.B.J.
3:42 that frosty cold water looks amazing
Burnin 🔥
Bruner é louco 🔥👏🏾👏🏾🇧🇷
Amazing !! Thanks !!
💛💛
Drumming as a sporting event!!! I love it.
The Drumolympics
Sweet!
so dope!!!
Took them long enough to finally do an actual jazz performance of this.
Also DAMN that's the most gospel chop jazz drumming I've ever heard.
EDIT: I don't think y'all realize that gospel chops don't actually apply only to gospel.
Ron ain't gospel chops.. he's comes from a time way before that scene
@@csmjazz facts
Nah ronald is swinging as hard as anyone here, not gospel chops at all
I think a lot of people are having trouble with what you define as 'Gospel Chops' and what parts of the song you're defining it as. For example, I believe you're talking about fills such as the ones around 5:58 which I'd absolutely define the same way.
I imagine a lot of people think you're referring to other shit in the video lol
🔥 yea
Ya no es mas mi idolo ahora es el IDOLO MAXIMO DE CO
Absolute monsters!
The other musicians internal metronome must be crazy considering the drummers style
Another LEVEL!!!
Fast, furious and precise Bruner. Love it.
Drummer❤❤❤
Man give the drummer some!!! This is music at its finest and these brothers did their thing. I love Terrace. A musician’s musician and a producer’s producer. He is phenomenally amazing and one of my biggest inspirations. This whole set was 🔥🔥🔥
They are all living legends, we still can't believe we managed to bring them all together 🥰
They basically made it free form time no changes... Hell yeah
I’m having a hard time catching the rhythm; does free form time have something to do with that ?
I feel like the keyboard and the drums are fighting while the sax and and bass are just standing there looking at each other like "What do we do??"
Gratitude
GREATTTTTTTTTTTTT
That is some lovely bass playing. Mmm.
Lol I went to church with him and his little brother and just found out they are famous.. and I'm not surprised at all...
My student said he wanted to be a drummer and "I'm like, I went to church with this guy who played drums at your age very well and I'm sure he's somewhere playing drums for somebody famous"..
He's like what's his name, I'm like Ronald.. he's like Ronald brunner.. than I google it, and it's him., 😂😂😂🤷🏽♀️ Lol not surprised at all..
He was this good and serious as a kid... I'm sure he's better because he's older, but he was so good as a kid I would not know the difference....
One of the greatest ever!
Smh 💪🏾❤️🧨
These guys are killers. Their level of musicianship is fire🔥🔥🔥
mr. Martin quoting Spiritual by Coltrane

Greg Spero in the crowd ❤
Thundercat brother on drums 👏🏼
Yes! Ronald Bruner Jr
I'm glad I came.
Glad people didn't miss any text messages during this performance and I'm glad to see them responding right away! It's so nice to see a crowd that cares about their friends so much. ❤
looks like about half of the people are there for the music, the rest are just there for the social clout and social media points
It was so blatant too for that one girl just texting. Damn, that's actually some disrespect tbh
She was probably booking a studio to go practice 😆
this is why to pimp a butterfly and damn are albums that cannot be sonically duplicated even though they are amazing. any halfway decent producer can make a drake beat but try doing something like this. this takes high-level Talent.
1000%
I love how everyone in the audience is making a very important face 😂
Da ❤ Supreme shoutout tho….🔥🔥🔥🔥@6:30
I should be practicing.
I would like to see this kind of jamm. Where are you?
Is Ronald Bruner, Jr. the original Benjamin Button? I swear he looks like he has aged backwards into a teenager.
the chops keep you fit!
I like Ron Bruner specially in Fusion - though he's got a bit of "boastfulness" the way he move / talk (hope he'll get mature someday - toned-down)
bro wwwhat why is this channel always reading my mind
broooooo
2:55
anyone got sheet music for the sax
I caught covid at this..but it was worth it!
Shout out to the Black American Church. The premiere musical institution of America and by extension the world. It as an institution had produced hands down the musicians and singers of our times. Period
No lies here
❤🎼❤🎷❤🥁❤🎹❤
You ain't no KING!
Ro timmi on the drums
This is not even Normal
real question is how is this free? banger
In case you’re being serious- the song is called For Free, from K Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly album. Pretty sure At least 2 of the guys here were contributors to that whole album
han tenido que cortar el solo, por qué duraba 45 ' más
Thts 21 jumpstreet Eddie Murphy
thas thundercats brother
And TCat is RBJ's brother 😆
200 years later they'll think this is a song of a Jazz, Funk Artist.. While it's from a RAPPER, K.
I mean, this D ain't Free-hee-heeeee , I mean B-haaaa-byyyyyyyyy ...
