There's a spooky radio tune in Mahogany town before you deal with Team rocket as well, it hurts your ears a bit but it's probably a bit less creepy because it's explained by the plot with the whole radio waves forcing magikarp to evolve thing.
Pentaliatix I think he might be talking about lost silver. That's where I first heard that song as I didn't know it was originally from gold and silver.
Meme me Yeah Me during Leafgreen:Well lets go to lavender town and heard this "Scary" song Me during Crystal:I want to change the music while i explore *changing radio* what is this?.....WHAT THE FUDGE???? Yeah not only that the Unown theme is also used in a Creepy pasta game And it was scary that i shit my pants(Well i did go to the bathroom to poop not shit my pants :/)
4:10 i played this game on the OG gameboy to death and back when i was young (i was sitting in the seat that on grocery carts young playing this) but... when i got to this part, i was so scared that it did give me nightmares, more so than the final boss intro music. i legit turned off the game losing like an hour of play. i handed the game to my older bro to beat it for me when i got back.
I’ve always found Gen 1’s Cinnabar Mansion area and theme a lot more creepy as a kid. The beeping robotic noises and whines makes it more unsettling considering what experiments they did on the Mon’s there and the aftermath. Also that’s why I loved the Wind Fish Egg, though short and simple. Music for WFE and the bosses are very fitting since you’re literally “in a nightmare.”
Lavender town isn't even the creepiest Pokemon song, never mind GB as a whole. Though the most unsettling is probably glitch songs, dear lord, i don't know what it is with GB Pokemon games, but they make for really freaky glitches. And i love that.
To this day, the glitches of 1st Gen Pokemon still freak me out, especially the more severe ones. It's hard to describe why, but it really bothered little kid me. If I thought Missingno creeped me out as a kid though, hoo Nelly, that now-beloved abomination of mine is just the tip of the iceberg. ^^;
Y'know, when first saw that Gameboy on the Thumbnail, i thought, this video was about the Gameboy itself. Something like when the battery get's low and the red light starts blinking, so you need save the game as quick as you can, or else your whole progress was lost... Huh, this would kinda fit into a "Creepy Time Limits"-Video.
I remember being creeped out as a kid by GameBoy music. Not because of the tune itself, but because the battery was dying. It's like the game's world is collapsing.
Back then as a kid, I had a german copy of Link's Awakening, and of course, I knew 0 german (even now). But somehow I managed to finish the sidequest, find the book and figure out that the arrows were meant to be the ways for the Egg. Thinking back at this I feel like a genius. Or maybe I just had way too much free time.
In Wario Land 3, the Warped Void is basically the same motif as the Final Chapter in WL2. For some reason though, Bowser's face is in there, which honestly is out of place within the Wario side of the Mario universe
The music that always gave me the creeps as a kid was the final area in Metroid 2, right before fighting the Queen Metroid. Something about the decrepit ruins only populated by metroids was always unsettling, especially the room right before the final encounter.
I remember accidentally finding the radio signal in the Ruins of Alph as a kid and it terrified me. I played lost silver years later and instantly I remember how creepy the track was. One of the most odd things in a Pokemon game
i would like to see that oracle of ages is wisdow, seasons is power and link s Awakening is courage since you fight nightmares and Marin kinda look like a oracle, and her soung have the power to wake the wind fish meaning she is as important in that game as the oracles, also in the true ending of the zelda oracles, link goes in a boat for some reason...and in link awakening link starts in a boat that is destroyed, making it feel like these games are connected which is really cool for me.
I believe that the Unown communicate through radio waves, and the radio channel is just you eavesdropping in on their idle chitchat. What do you think about this theory?
i was a bit dissapointed to see that you didnt include the erchius ghost from starbound, but i asnt really expecting it since you were talking about gameboy games lol
Unown radio is way creepier in my opinion because it’s just so... out of place. Lavender town is a Pokémon graveyard, it’s creepy in that case, but it has a melody- it’s a song. The unnervingly barren tones of the radio are bad enough, but after a note is done playing- dead silence. It just feels... wrong.
Honestly when it comes to old Gameboy games with creepy music I think Magi Nation has some pretty creepy tracks but gosh every single one of these tracks are quite unnerving
The most creepy thing in GB that can happen to you is battery going dead.Or your console not being able to boot up correctly and it's screen and sound is screwing up.
I’m starting to wonder about GameBoy music getting under your skin so easily as well. Like why does that Unown radio tune give me anxiety every time I hear it? Every. Single. Time.
10:31 If the build-up of the music settles you for that level, you can hear a milder version if you have the game paused during that section. Sounds incredibly different!
The third oracle game was just going to be a remake of Zelda 1 however when they decided against it they took what they had done and stuck it into Seasons which is why some areas sorta look zelda 1 styled.
from what I know that's not entirely true. link's awakening was started as a remake of the first zelda game, but it did eventually get turned into a game that stood mostly on its own feet. nintendo and capcom had unique plans for the third oracle game, which would've been called 'mystical seed of courage' (i believe oracle of ages was going to be called 'mystical seed of wisdom;' would oracle of seasons have followed the same naming pattern?)
Not sure if anyone else said this but I believe that unknown soundtrack has something to do with the unknowns like electromagnetic signals or something it makes but basically the unknown what ever interferes with your radio and that’s why you get that noice. I’m pretty sure it’s just the unknowns charting it up.
Coincidentally (or not), the chord progression of the Wind Fish Egg theme is the same as the lower Guardhouse in Resident Evil (the flooded part with the plant boss). Is it a coincidence indeed, or was it inspired?
Mt. Pyre and Drought from Pokemon R/S/E, Mt. Moon from Pokemon FR/LG, Environmental Mystery, Sector 5 (ARC) and X-Invasion from Metroid Fusion, and The Elevator to Hell from Metroid Zero Mission
There's a hidden radio song at the Lake of Rage that only plays during the Team Rocket takeover. You can intercept the evolution signal on your radio. As soon as you beat them outta town the tune stops, which is probably why less people know about it. The 'song' is even creepier than Ruins'.
even before knowing what this video is about, as soon as the game boy starting sound was played, i was like "mmmmmyes". my brain immediately started imagining the beginning of pokemon yellow.
An interesting thing about the “?????” Radio station is that there is an easy explanation. Many pokedex entries state that unown communicate via radio frequencies, meaning the creepy music is really just unown talking. Not that it makes it any better.
Dude, I’m the last person with Lavender Town Syndrome. I can’t listen to that shit. It makes me unable to fall asleep and typically makes me cry and scream in agony.
Game boy sure had alot of creepy song. Since I was 4 yo when I played it I would argue that even Mario Land 1 and 2 were creepy as well (Land 1's final boss theme, Land's 2 many spooky levels, including Wario's castle/fight theme.... brrrrr!!). "Not horror" games are by far the creepiest ones when they surprise ou this way. I also noticed that I was particularly terrified each time a game breaks the 4th wall. That's probably the reason Undertale still haunt me, but it's far from being the only occurence. Maybe that could give you ideas :)
5:45 i think it's a broken load zone that the devs put aside to make another one because said load zone is broken and can't be fixed. causing you to be "wiped from existence." and even worse, the music that plays make you feel that you are being "wiped from existence" because you did a bad. i know this is long but everyone's comments are long. i am not ashamed.
The #6 Runaway Guys Fan Doom 64's Soundtrack. My creepy favorites are MAP08: The Final Outpost, and MAP20: Breakdown, and Perfect Dark's "Controller Pak" theme. What is your creepy favorite OST's on the '64?
Uh oh! He used QUICK ATTACK!
"Uh oh! He" is the best nickname ever.
I would use "O shit He"
I nicknamed my Pokémon “My dude”, “my nigga”
Let's not forget "Fuck, I" and "I never".
"oh you're FUCK"
Uh oh! He used "rating system"!
There's a spooky radio tune in Mahogany town before you deal with Team rocket as well, it hurts your ears a bit but it's probably a bit less creepy because it's explained by the plot with the whole radio waves forcing magikarp to evolve thing.
Ive always thought that team rocket made their frequency based off of the unown.
Nope, its different themes
2:22 Every time you say something like "I'll leave it for another time" I get excited. I want to hear the rest of the story!
same
Pentaliatix I think he might be talking about lost silver. That's where I first heard that song as I didn't know it was originally from gold and silver.
Its similar if not the sane tune as the azure flute in dpp I believe
Maybe the Wind Fish's Egg is empty because the creepy music scared all the monsters away.
Or something.
it also reflects that "everything on this island is not real". No one's gonna help you. You're on your own to fight the Final Boss.
Haha good one
You are the gift that keeps on giving. Love your insight to alot of games I've played and even interest me into games I haven't played.
Lavender town=Overrated
Unown radio=Underrated
Reno Kyrie89 Ik
I still think lavender town sounds more creepy
How the fudge did i manage to get 53 likes?
i actualy like lavender town's theme...
Meme me Yeah
Me during Leafgreen:Well lets go to lavender town and heard this "Scary" song

Yeah not only that the Unown theme is also used in a Creepy pasta game

Your vids are so chill they feel like they have been made 10 years ago (in a good sense)
nunca achei que ia achar o péricles nesse canal

IDK why but the ruins of alph gives me creeps and you perfectly represented how odd it is.
When you encounter D, I, and E Unown.
I'm damned.
Chattering Dragonite OH MY POSSESED GAMEBOY
What about H E L L O ?
I once encountered F, U, C, and K.
Once, the Unown I encountered spelled my name and I didn't play for a week. It really terrified me.
(My name's four letters, just for clarification)
I encountered d I c k s

I wish they made that third oracle Zelda game so much. I love the other two.
James Miller they should just do a remake of the 2 along with a brand new oracle of secrets :)
Lavender town isn't even the creepiest Pokemon song, never mind GB as a whole. Though the most unsettling is probably glitch songs, dear lord, i don't know what it is with GB Pokemon games, but they make for really freaky glitches.
And i love that.
KaedeLanyo I find Lavender Town music somewhat calming.
Lavender Town is supposed to be creepy, it's a damn cemetery! They're meant to be depressing.
To this day, the glitches of 1st Gen Pokemon still freak me out, especially the more severe ones. It's hard to describe why, but it really bothered little kid me. If I thought Missingno creeped me out as a kid though, hoo Nelly, that now-beloved abomination of mine is just the tip of the iceberg. ^^;

Don't forget the fear of the gameboy losing power WHILE saving and possibly destroying your data. Unlikely but possible.
When I was a kid and played wario land 3, I was terrified to play "the peaceful village" at night, because of the music and the zombies
I remember being creeped out as a kid by GameBoy music. Not because of the tune itself, but because the battery was dying. It's like the game's world is collapsing.
Plz dont let this be the creepy pics on the gameboy
Thank god its not in this vid. Them pics really creeped me out
Who are you running from?
ruth mcnally RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!
Don't be s i l l y !
Alucard115 WHY ARE U RUNNING!!?
Oh god you don’t want to mess with those 👀
I was expecting to see Gameboy Camera in this video.
Back then as a kid, I had a german copy of Link's Awakening, and of course, I knew 0 german (even now). Yes. The GB.
I can still hear the ear bleeding tune of Mega Man II.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
At least the title screen music is okay.
XxN1TR0FUS1ONS Mega Man and More And Buffy the Vampire Slayer. AND Sonic 3D Blast 5...
i would like to see that oracle of ages is wisdow, seasons is power and link s Awakening is courage since you fight nightmares and Marin kinda look like a oracle, and her soung have the power to wake the wind fish meaning she is as important in that game as the oracles, also in the true ending of the zelda oracles, link goes in a boat for some reason...and in link awakening link starts in a boat that is destroyed, making it feel like these games are connected which is really cool for me.
7:10 I actually just got there today. It is nice playing this game.
...I really wanna know that Unown story tbh
In the remakes, that radio signal increases the chance of encountering Unown letters you haven't caught yet.
Look up Pokémon Lost Silver
I believe that the Unown communicate through radio waves, and the radio channel is just you eavesdropping in on their idle chitchat. What do you think about this theory?
I love when you can use minimalism to your advantage. making creepy tracks with the gameboy sound chip is one of them
Okay, in one of the 2 games, there is an Oracle of secrets so It would probably be In the middle don't you think
i was a bit dissapointed to see that you didnt include the erchius ghost from starbound, but i asnt really expecting it since you were talking about gameboy games lol
GBA wasn’t safe from terror either, por ejemplo Drought from R/S/E
don't you just wonder what happened in the past to get stuff like this
Long, torturous work hours can drive a developer a little mad... lol
"Hey what if we scare the shit out of some kids."
It just feels... wrong.
Dear god, the ruins of alph scared the shit outa me when i was little, first the puzzle "reward" then the radio channel that picks up unown talking..
If only you could rename pokemon moves then it could say "Uh-Oh He took a shit"
But it would be "Uh-Oh used He Took A Shit!", wouldn't it?
+SpontaneouslyMeow Thanks for correcting me.
You guys are arguing over correcting me saying that a pokemon is using a move called taking a shit and it's the greatest thing ever
Like what if you could make it so it doesn't say "used" when you use the move?
+-[HH]-Reaper Uh... Who's arguing here, lol?
Honestly when it comes to old Gameboy games with creepy music I think Magi Nation has some pretty creepy tracks but gosh every single one of these tracks are quite unnerving
heard lavender town so much that's my jam lol
same
The ghost types agree with you.
spoopy ghost man
Lavender Town still creeps me out.
I agree
listen to RSE drought, its worse
/*A LOT worse.*/
Lavender Town slightly sped up sounds kinda good actually
yea but at 2x speed it kinda sounds like the 8-bit (or something) part of the canyons song in lbp 1
I used to think the radio was what made the unown show up
Thanks for all the nostalgia! They just don’t make em like this anymore.
first link was wiped out. then he fought a glitch and came back? thats too nostalagic for a hero to combine.
No! Not the Ruins of Alph's theme!😨
Every. Single. Time.
Love the Gameboy soundfont. All the crackles and blips remind me of childhood, a much simpler time...
Who are you running from
Don't be silly !
what's that supposed to mean?
catur wibowo the gameboy camera
damn, i have mini heart attack googling that, oh well who need sleep anyway
catur wibowo I just woke up to read this at 6:00 am
Still waiting on that Unown video... :(
I love your videos! They are very intriguing to me...
Two creepy pokemon tunes/scenarios, two creepy Zelda tunes/scenarios, and two creepy Wario tunes/scenarios?
Is this Gameboy/Nintendo hell
Wasn't that Pokémon Gold/Silver tune from the Unonw's place used in the Pokémon Silver Creepypasta game?
Actually, for the Wind Egg, the answer to the maze is randomized when you read the book!
Looking for it on the internet shouldn't be enough..
Using the same tune of the platform you want to speak about the game on...that's a clever idea, git. You should use it more often
10:31 If the build-up of the music settles you for that level, you can hear a milder version if you have the game paused during that section. Sounds incredibly different!
the one that always gets me is "Who are you running from?"
The third oracle game was just going to be a remake of Zelda 1 however when they decided against it they took what they had done and stuck it into Seasons which is why some areas sorta look zelda 1 styled.

Man I fucking love these videos
That radio station in the ruins of alph sounds like a corruption
4:45
Actually, the path is randomized each time, if I recall correctly, so you won't be able to just find it on the internet.
IIRC, there’s 3 different paths that can be taken, but only one works and its chosen by RNGesus when you create your save file.
If you don't look at the book, the path is consistent (which really helps out speedrunners)
I wonder how the Wind Fish Egg will look/sound in HD when the Switch remake releases
It sounds less aggressive and has a more serious tone which is honestly fine as the rest of the soundtrack is good.
I find many of the themes of gsc to be oddly creepy. Especially mt silver
Not sure if anyone else said this but I believe that unknown soundtrack has something to do with the unknowns like electromagnetic signals or something it makes but basically the unknown what ever interferes with your radio and that’s why you get that noice. I’m pretty sure it’s just the unknowns charting it up.
Alph ruins still gives me nightmares
I miss Creepypastas....Just a bit.
Yeah, I remember the days when Creepypastas were actually scary.
Same
@AAron I don't.
Honestly I feel bad for link in the video
I think the music "?????" is somehow related to the original version of the Lavender Town theme from Pokémon Red/Green (Japan)...
Finally someone mentions the Ruins of Alph.
I see that bit of foreshadowing you did there at the end of the video...
"Something out there that could actuappy kill even Wario"...
Coincidentally (or not), the chord progression of the Wind Fish Egg theme is the same as the lower Guardhouse in Resident Evil (the flooded part with the plant boss). Is it a coincidence indeed, or was it inspired?
Try Loopz on gameboy. That game had a really creep tune in it. Seriously creepy.
On the second one it was CREEPING me out on the bass parts and the whole tune
Wario Land 2(and 3) is for GB, GBA or GBC?
nice new intro :-)
Yeah is cool
So what's a creepy thing for the gba? Personally one I know are the demantors music from the gba game prisoner of azkaban.
Mt. Pyre and Drought from Pokemon R/S/E, Mt. Moon from Pokemon FR/LG, Environmental Mystery, Sector 5 (ARC) and X-Invasion from Metroid Fusion, and The Elevator to Hell from Metroid Zero Mission
Do you see the question marks at 2:07? It matches the name unown
There's a hidden radio song at the Lake of Rage that only plays during the Team Rocket takeover. You can intercept the evolution signal on your radio. As soon as you beat them outta town the tune stops, which is probably why less people know about it. The 'song' is even creepier than Ruins'.
I don't have a video of it because I experienced it first hand.
3:52 Sounds like a corrupt version of Ballad of the Wind Fish.
even before knowing what this video is about, as soon as the game boy starting sound was played, i was like "mmmmmyes". my brain immediately started imagining the beginning of pokemon yellow.
“Uh-Oh! He” is the next thing I’m naming a Pokémon.
I always thought that unown spoke through radio signals
what's the story of the Unown radio signal?
An interesting thing about the “?????” Radio station is that there is an easy explanation. Many pokedex entries state that unown communicate via radio frequencies, meaning the creepy music is really just unown talking. Not that it makes it any better.
I wonder if the eldritch Hell at the end of Wario Land 2 helped inspire The Abyss in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow?
I know in Crystal, at least, there IS an NPC that mentions the Ruins of Alph radio signal.
how about the creepy unsettling warp when you get back in time before you're supposed to go to the ancient tomb
Dude, I’m the last person with Lavender Town Syndrome. I can’t listen to that shit. It makes me unable to fall asleep and typically makes me cry and scream in agony.
Game boy sure had alot of creepy song. Since I was 4 yo when I played it I would argue that even Mario Land 1 and 2 were creepy as well (Land 1's final boss theme, Land's 2 many spooky levels, including Wario's castle/fight theme.... brrrrr!!).

Do you have a super game boy?
5:45 i think it's a broken load zone that the devs put aside to make another one because said load zone is broken and can't be fixed. causing you to be "wiped from existence." and even worse, the music that plays make you feel that you are being "wiped from existence" because you did a bad. i know this is long but everyone's comments are long. i am not ashamed.
NEW VIDEO YEYY..............*(hears lavanders town music)*
Esteban Pavez *gun shot* Lavender town syonrtim Stricks again.
Can't wait for the Sequel to Link's Awakening.
When I heard the ??? music from the radio I took my headphones off XD
you should do creepy bad endings for dead rising 4
Yay, time for my weekly dose of Whoisthisgit
What about creepy N64 music?
The #6 Runaway Guys Fan Doom 64's Soundtrack. My creepy favorites are MAP08: The Final Outpost, and MAP20: Breakdown,
and Perfect Dark's "Controller Pak" theme. What is your creepy favorite OST's on the '64?
The #6 Runaway Guys Fan oh no
Damn, I never knew Wario was so T H I C C
*EXTRA **_T H I C C_*
Now for an challange...
Count how many steps link has done in this video :3
Explanation for the part at 5:46 The Last Boss was actually Lavos and he wiped Link from existence, thus proving the fact that Crono > Link 😀
You sure love Wario Land eh?
"This is some kind of mental torture." Nintendo licensed! :D
At 6:25 it sounded pretty good
The real final chapter theme reminds me Arceus battle theme
