Ehhhh, I think some forms of arachnophobia would be fine, if it's not the legs that bother you. Heck some people are only scared of the thick and hairy legs anyway, so even then it wouldn't always be a problem.
It's a crying shame that Nintendo refused to continue the Paper Mario series after SPM. Sticker star was alright on it's own, the problem is is that it was part of a long-ish running subseries. Paper Mario before sticker star was respected and expected to have: -RPG Gameplay -Partners -Strong story and characters -Unique World When a new game comes along and turns most of the pre-existing expectations for the franchies on their head it will, without fail, anger some long time fans. However, the problem was accentuated with Paper Mario because it always has been a rather niche and unique franchise. Switching back to a more cliche story and world tropes and a deviation in gameplay is what tore most people up, as they were expecting the formula of Paper Mario to be continued with sticker star, and the denial of those expectations is what caused people to become so mad. Kinda like the Star Wars: Last Jedi in a way. You are perfectly entitled to your own opinion, these are just my thoughts. TL:DR Sticker Star deviated more from the norm of paper mario, far more than should have been for a niche franchise. Sorry for the essay.
Honestly, I actually believed Dimentio made a very good point. I mean, he HAD been helping you, and if all worlds were to be destroyed he had no reason to see Count Bleck's goals realised, so to side with the Heroes and defeat him was the only viable option. If he hadn't been bribing you Hooktail style I honestly would've probably got that game over legitimately. Do you think the first 3 bad endings you showed in this video were characters trying to instil hypnosis onto Mario, and failing? Would I think would've been cool is if, instead of a bad ending, Mario was the only one that was brainwashed, and Luigi fought Dimentio as he usually would, breaking his control over Mario's willpower upon finishing the fight. The game would continue as it normally would at that point.
I think it would be even cooler if the game pulled an undertale, and if you tried to go back into the save with that ending, you wouldnt be able to. Text would appear saying "error". After sevreal tries, dimentio says "ahahaha. What, you want to go back? Too bad. This is MY save file now. MY story. MY game! Go off and create a new one, and dont make the same mistake." After sevreal more tries with more "error" responses, dimentio says "fine, if you're so desprate to see, here you go." You then enter the save file, and you see mario/luigi fighting count bleck with your pixls and items (excluding tipi, of course). But you cant do anything. Dimentio is in the back round, watching, and he says to you "see what you have done? I suppose I should thank you for making my plan a reality. you helped accomplish it by making your puppets mine. Here, (insert name of save file here), for your cooperation." you then get a new save file named "gift" that starts off right at the dimentio battle. You'd get to play on as normal but you wont be able to go back into the other save file, and if you delete the bad ending save file, the gift disappears too. might be a bit too complex, but it'd give the player a SERIOUS guilt trip. thats just my thought, anyway.
I really expected to see a cutscene or a different game over screen for Paper Mario when Mario decides to let the world end. It would be way better than just the regular game over screen
Yeah, it should've shown the void overtaking the world, to really push that that was the wrong decision. The second death, the one in space, should've shown the character dropping in their death stance slowly. The third one was the most emotive one, so that's fine. The final one was also good.

What doesn't help the last sudden death is that Dimentio asks you again after you defeat the Count, and if you say yes to that, I believe it's a quicker route to the same sudden death. But still, good on you SPM for freaking out the gaming community.
Nah, after you defeat the Count, Dimentio simply says your usefulness has been fulfilled and that he intends to finish you off. He gives you no 2nd chance because there is no need.
"It's not like being in water, you know" Oh yeah; you CAN breathe underwater, or at least not require a fish bowl with no source of air to breathe... Why have logic when in space but not underwater? And that logic's half-baked due to it being a fish bowl with no source of air to breathe in the first place. Nintendo Logic doesn't even follow it's own rules and changes them mid-game!
Maybe Nintendo wanted to "stretch" the logic; as technically water is liquid oxygen. Anyways I was nitpicking at the games absurdness and wacky humour.
I miss when Paper Mario had personality. PM64 expanded upon the main series' formula to make it feel unique, such as making Bowser an actual threat. TTYD had a creative battle system and memorable characters, plus atmosphere coming out of its ears. SPM had a surprisingly deep story and some inventive environments (a pixelated world, an Asian-style castle, heaven and hell in everything but name). Sticker Star and Color Splash feel more like they took New Super Mario Bros, slapped on a battle system and a magic MacGuffin with an annoying sidekick, and called it a day without changing anything else. I know that ripping on the post-SPM games is about as original as Rocky Helmet Ferrothorn, but I still felt the need to say this.
Now we need to wait for Lovely Good Endings # 2 to cover this game. I mean, after the dark s*** this game chucks at you, the ending is beautiful and a perfect finish for an awesome game, even though it IS really sad... Also, the possibility of a sequel as well as a Paper Mario game for the Switch that reverts back to the classic system that the original and TTYD had isn't too far off. If you're reading this, Nintendo, MAKE THE 2 A THING.
fun fact: if count bleck destroyed all universes, paper jam proves itd destroy the normal mario games too. and even worse, if you count smash bros itd end most nintendo series. (but of course, he couldnt do that, him being not real)
The very first bad ending of the game was a mighty "fuck you" to curious people, since before that point in the game you can't even save and you're forced to go through AAAAALL of the intro again.
Fun fact: the music that plays when Jaydes OP OOC OC RPs you is the same one that plays on the 100th Floor of TTYD's pit of 100 trials (which is already a really obscure track; you can't hear it unless you deliberately go through the pit a second time since Bonetail's room is completely silent the first time). Neat of them to re-use a really awesomely ambient piece like that!
I found the motion controls really janky at times and the platforming up the tree annoying because of the amazee daizees, but man... The story! The worlds! The atmospheres! The character development! The music! All perfect!
And the Paper Mario series is complete. If only mario luigi paper jam had some elements from the previous paper Mario games instead of sticker star. Also I have to say that dimentio is my favorite mario villain ever.
I played this game in english when i was young and didn't understand english (i am from chile) so i didnt understand anything they say and i get the first bad ending. And even worst i was stuck in the level 1-3 four years
For a creepy ending video, you should do psycho-pass manatory happiness. I just finished it last night and jesus were there a lot of bad endings, it even happened in a route were i was sure was good.
The last ending with Dimentio begs the question of why he _needed_ Mario to agree at all. Couldn't he have just put the sprout on him and Luigi while they were talking or while they were fighting, regardless of what Mario said?
I remember playing this game a lot in my childhood, and I loved it. But, I knew the first sudden death, but no the others. Fortunately for my mind in those times, the Underwhere and final ones stayed hidden for me till this day.
Love that I can farm so many points for my score to the point I had like 300 HP and one shotting almost everything but then Mario and the crew gets destroyed by a little sprout.
Never thought it will have very dark scenes that I didn't know that would happen. Usually, they either force you to say yes or someone else happens that forces you. Damn.
With the Dementio mind control thing I think Mind Control is the most powerful and coolest ability a villian (or hero) could have and I think it's awesome when you could use it (which is why I love the mine glitch in FE where you control your enemies) but it's absolutely fucking terrifying if it happens to you/the main character

Not gonna lie, in my first play through of this game, I actually fell for the last cutscene death, I was about 8 when I was playing it. And I wasn't fully paying attention.
Some of these game over dialogues are pretty dang funny and have that Paper Mario styled dark sense of humor. I think this whole thing started since the first game where Mario was believed to have killed a guy after said guy had accidentally hit his head.
There is actually a real fungus that essentially does what those Floro Sapiens sprouts do. I believe it’s called Ophiocordiceps sinensis. I’m bad at spelling, so that might be a little off.

Dimentio watches afar, his face sickeningly pleasured. Mr. L is cured up and is crying loudly. Timpani holds Blumieres face, and he stops harming her. "How disgusting"
It would’ve been better if the Dinentio mind controlling wasn’t an instant game over. Instead, tippy leaves Mario but his attack power increases and the player is given a powerful card that allows you to go directly to the fight against Count Bleck. After Count Bleck is defeated, Dimentio appears and the game over screen appears.
Super Paper Mario was always my favorite, tied with thousand year door. 64 was ok, and (please don't hate me for this) sticker star and color splash were still enjoyable
Davis Jones i still loved those ones, but having to go search for upgrades is kind of a dick move. That's like playing final fantasy, and only being able to earn exp by getting them in chests.

For anyone interested, there's this indie game that's inspired by "Paper Mario" called "Bug Fable" that's currently in development. And by inspired, I mean it's heavily inspired. Outside of some mechanical differences, it's more or less "Paper Mario"...but with bugs. NanoPhoenix Good point, but even there he has a hat which is capable of taking the shape of an astronaut helmet, and it's likely that Cappy is able to aid him in an invisible manner as well. For Bowser and Peach's part in all this, they normally would have their own magic set up which would allow them to breathe in the void of space. If they didn't use that magic beforehand, this would likely be the result. Luigi also is known to use the Baby Luma's power, and none of the places he visited during his forays in SMG without Luma were confirmed to have a non-breathable atmosphere. As for Luigi's Balloon World, he probably has oxygen in that case on his back or something. Actually, there's also the fact that the moon itself in Odyssey was known to successfully harbor mammal life, which requires air. Maybe the power of the Power Moon/Moon Rocks generated an atmospheric field on their own...
Why do people hate this game so much? Yeah, it strayed from the typical RPG formula that was set up by the previous two games, but that doesn’t necessarily make it bad. It had a great story, some memorable characters/villains, many cool mechanics, some great music, and very memorable settings. Personally, my only problem with it is the difficulty balancing, but other than that, it’s at least 100,000 times better than Sticker Star and Color Splash combined, IMO.

I remember around Chapter 2 or so some Koopa or somebody tells Peach that if they were spotted it was Game Over and I thought I saw a UA-cam video showing that once... and then there’s the Pit Of 100 Trials instant death Game Over for running out of time in there.
UnderwHere, not Underwere... and not Underwear either ;P Agreed with SPM being being so easy it's insulting and I miss badges, but the story is great. When I first saw the graphical style I felt like it was almost TOO minimalist, what with plenty of characters talking like Terrence and Phillip in South Park and Mimi being a stick figure, though it eventually grew on me. The number of outlines for PM fangames on Devianart alone is proof enough that there's lots of folks eager for this series to make a comeback. I'd like seeing a new game using SPM's combat style but giving it a proper difficulty curve- sort of like the 2D RPG Wanderers From Ys series, or Front Mission: Gun Hazard.
I would love if they tried to make Super Paper Mario's gameplay again, but make it harder and some badges. Maybe add the choice of level up thing again... I dunno, I'm not the master of gameplay.
Sticker Star was bad because it was too hard, added only one new character, bowser doesn’t speak, and the game gives you no hints. Color Splash was basically a copy but with extra stuff you need to worry about. This is why they aren’t even considered Paper Mario games. You’re welcome.
Super Paper Mario is honestly my favorite- Combination of gameplay, story, and nostalgia Edit: Oh yeah and probably the hardest part when I was younger was that 8 block puzzle in that one building in order to get to Flopside. I forget but I think I hadn’t figured out the formula to do it. I think I just kept randomly hitting blocks literally forever until I got it
Paper Jam is really a Mario and Luigi game, not a Paper Mario game, especially considering Color Splash’s release in the same year. Paper Mario games are released farther apart than that.
Do you know how hypnosis work? It's a thing you have to allow. You, your conscience or your subconscious have to give consent. Well, Mario certainly has a lot of willpower, but since you agree with Dimentio at the end, he he is willingly hypnotized.
This is a massive nostalgia trip for me. Little ~9 year old me absolutely adored this game, so seeing videos like this pop up in my recommended makes my inner little kid freak the fuck out.
At certain points throughout the story, you check back up on the kid's fish, it keeps getting bigger. At the end of the game, you find skeletons of people from flipside at the bottom of the water. Plus, at the end of the game, you can also see the offspring of the kid's fish. I can't let myself think about what would have happened to that kid if he ended up keeping his fish... (Side note: If my memory doesn't fail me, the kid actually planned to check up on his fish at the end of the game, and Mario just stands there, like "yup, you do you, kid." And with that, if the game progressed further, you would be able to see one more skeleton join the others at the bottom of the pool)

Maybe Nintendo wanted to "stretch" the logic; as technically water is liquid oxygen.
Anyways I was nitpicking at the games absurdness and wacky humour.
Maybe it means you can breathe of both Oxygen and H2O, but not when in space since it doesn't have those two sources.

And Sonic Rules are that you can drown underwater , but breathe perfectly fine in space
I miss when Paper Mario had personality. PM64 expanded upon the main series' formula to make it feel unique, such as making Bowser an actual threat. TTYD had a creative battle system and memorable characters, plus atmosphere coming out of its ears. SPM had a surprisingly deep story and some inventive environments (a pixelated world, an Asian-style castle, heaven and hell in everything but name). Sticker Star and Color Splash feel more like they took New Super Mario Bros, slapped on a battle system and a magic MacGuffin with an annoying sidekick, and called it a day without changing anything else.
I know that ripping on the post-SPM games is about as original as Rocky Helmet Ferrothorn, but I still felt the need to say this.
A better pokemon analogy would be Toxic protect

The very first bad ending of the game was a mighty "fuck you" to curious people, since before that point in the game you can't even save and you're forced to go through AAAAALL of the intro again.

I found the motion controls really janky at times and the platforming up the tree annoying because of the amazee daizees, but man... The story! The worlds! The atmospheres! The character development! The music! All perfect!

I remember playing this game a lot in my childhood, and I loved it. But, I knew the first sudden death, but no the others. Fortunately for my mind in those times, the Underwhere and final ones stayed hidden for me till this day.
Love that I can farm so many points for my score to the point I had like 300 HP and one shotting almost everything but then Mario and the crew gets destroyed by a little sprout.

With the Dementio mind control thing I think Mind Control is the most powerful and coolest ability a villian (or hero) could have and I think it's awesome when you could use it (which is why I love the mine glitch in FE where you control your enemies) but it's absolutely fucking terrifying if it happens to you/the main character

Not gonna lie, in my first play through of this game, I actually fell for the last cutscene death, I was about 8 when I was playing it. And I wasn't fully paying attention.
Some of these game over dialogues are pretty dang funny and have that Paper Mario styled dark sense of humor. I think this whole thing started since the first game where Mario was believed to have killed a guy after said guy had accidentally hit his head.

It would’ve been better if the Dinentio mind controlling wasn’t an instant game over. Instead, tippy leaves Mario but his attack power increases and the player is given a powerful card that allows you to go directly to the fight against Count Bleck.
After Count Bleck is defeated, Dimentio appears and the game over screen appears.

Super Paper Mario was always my favorite, tied with thousand year door. 64 was ok, and (please don't hate me for this) sticker star and color splash were still enjoyable

For anyone interested, there's this indie game that's inspired by "Paper Mario" called "Bug Fable" that's currently in development. And by inspired, I mean it's heavily inspired. Outside of some mechanical differences, it's more or less "Paper Mario"...but with bugs.

Good point, but even there he has a hat which is capable of taking the shape of an astronaut helmet, and it's likely that Cappy is able to aid him in an invisible manner as well. For Bowser and Peach's part in all this, they normally would have their own magic set up which would allow them to breathe in the void of space. If they didn't use that magic beforehand, this would likely be the result. Luigi also is known to use the Baby Luma's power, and none of the places he visited during his forays in SMG without Luma were confirmed to have a non-breathable atmosphere. As for Luigi's Balloon World, he probably has oxygen in that case on his back or something. Actually, there's also the fact that the moon itself in Odyssey was known to successfully harbor mammal life, which requires air. Maybe the power of the Power Moon/Moon Rocks generated an atmospheric field on their own...
Why do people hate this game so much? Yeah, it strayed from the typical RPG formula that was set up by the previous two games, but that doesn’t necessarily make it bad. It had a great story, some memorable characters/villains, many cool mechanics, some great music, and very memorable settings. Personally, my only problem with it is the difficulty balancing, but other than that, it’s at least 100,000 times better than Sticker Star and Color Splash combined, IMO.

Agreed with SPM being being so easy it's insulting and I miss badges, but the story is great. When I first saw the graphical style I felt like it was almost TOO minimalist, what with plenty of characters talking like Terrence and Phillip in South Park and Mimi being a stick figure, though it eventually grew on me.
The number of outlines for PM fangames on Devianart alone is proof enough that there's lots of folks eager for this series to make a comeback. I'd like seeing a new game using SPM's combat style but giving it a proper difficulty curve- sort of like the 2D RPG Wanderers From Ys series, or Front Mission: Gun Hazard.
I would love if they tried to make Super Paper Mario's gameplay again, but make it harder and some badges. Maybe add the choice of level up thing again... I dunno, I'm not the master of gameplay.
Sticker Star was bad because it was too hard, added only one new character, bowser doesn’t speak, and the game gives you no hints. Color Splash was basically a copy but with extra stuff you need to worry about. This is why they aren’t even considered Paper Mario games. You’re welcome.

Paper Jam is really a Mario and Luigi game, not a Paper Mario game, especially considering Color Splash’s release in the same year. Paper Mario games are released farther apart than that.

This is a massive nostalgia trip for me. Little ~9 year old me absolutely adored this game, so seeing videos like this pop up in my recommended makes my inner little kid freak the fuck out.
At certain points throughout the story, you check back up on the kid's fish, it keeps getting bigger. At the end of the game, you find skeletons of people from flipside at the bottom of the water. Plus, at the end of the game, you can also see the offspring of the kid's fish. I can't let myself think about what would have happened to that kid if he ended up keeping his fish...
(Side note: If my memory doesn't fail me, the kid actually planned to check up on his fish at the end of the game, and Mario just stands there, like "yup, you do you, kid." And with that, if the game progressed further, you would be able to see one more skeleton join the others at the bottom of the pool)
