    Great tips, even for brunettes. I'm glad you didn't tell everyone to just "go to the salon" like most u tubers. A lot of women can't afford nor want to rely on a salon.

      exhibitjean thank you! As much as I LOVE my hair stylist for cuts (he does the best!) I actually have found that I prefer my color at home. It just works better for my schedule and is really affordable, considering I have to color every 3-6 weeks. In glad it helped you too!

      It makes me feel better to see that you are re-coloring as early as 3 weeks. That's usually what I have to do. My daughter used to do it for me and she moved out, so now it's the hubby. My daughter gave him a crash course, haha. In order to not make the poor man have to color my hair every 3 weeks, I touch up the most visible places myself (eyebrows, temples, forehead hairline, and where I part my hair), and then 2 to 3 weeks later he will do my whole head. God bless him :)

      Kudos for the video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you tried - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for learning how to reverse gray hair fast without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my BF after a lifetime of fighting got great results with it.

    I just did this exact formula on my medium brown hair (used 30 developer). I already had old highlights and some red streaks but wanted to be strawberry blonde! I am so happy with the results!! I have some natural red in my hair, I really wanted to lift my color so I went with Level 30 developer for 45 minutes and my hair is gorgeous! It's a little more red, sort of reminds me of Christina Hendricks' strawberry blonde hair. Thank you so much Molly!!!
    Also, I have shorter hair and had quite a bit left over mixture, so we added the rest of the red and sunlight blonde brown, a bit more developer and used it for my cousins hair (who had dark brown hair). It turned out a really pretty coppery color and she loves it! So we got a 2 in 1! Thanks again!!

    Ever since seeing your UA-cam video two years ago I have been coloring my hair with different-amount-combinations of the Wella Color Charm that you have been showing. My preferred formula is 4 parts of the golden blonde to 1 part Titian Red Blonde. I get compliments on my hair all the time and most people think I am a real redhead. Thank you, Molly!

    Hey Molly! I just used this formula on my hair and it turned out SOOOO good! I had to use a little more 8G because my hair was a little too "red" and it lightened it up perfectly. I will use this formula from now on! :) Thank you for sharing this!!!

    Another great thing for grey coverage that doesn't change the color too much is mixing a Neutral or double neutral in with red based colors, so same level colors, using a N or NN based color, wella carries both, add a tiny bit of that in with your color instead of the 7G, unless you want the depth of the 7G.
    Just an option for resistant greys. That's what i recommend all my clients do.

    • @girlgetglamorous
      @girlgetglamorous  7 років тому +2

      That's awesome, thank you for sharing! The neutral didn't work out for me (I tried it once before) but it might work for someone who isn't as grey/white as me.

    I prefer more of a light golden strawberry blonde, so I use 9G and 8RG. My natural hair is about 6/7NW so I lighten about 2-3 shades so a 20 vol developer works for me. If your hair is 3-4 darker than your ideal shade, then you might want use 30 vol. The ratio I use is 2 parts 9G to 1 part 8RG. I use a mixing bowl so I just use kitchen utensils to measure the color, so for example I might mix 2 tbsp of 9G, 1 tbsp of 8RG, and 6 tbsp of developer.

    Thank you, Molly! I went from a golden blonde and tweaked your formula a little and I'm happy with the color to start. I only used 1 ounce of the 8rg, and 2 ounces of the 8g with 20 developer for 20 minutes. The color isn't exactly where I want it to be, but it's a big change and it'll be a good stepping stone. I think if I would have left the formula on for longer the color would be darker and closer to where I want it.

    Molly, I use your formula for my strawberry blonde hair. I'm naturally a red head, but as I get grays, this is the perfect formula! Thank you!!!! I recently read that if you mix 10v developer with 20v developer it will make 15v, which is perfect for long lasting red color! I'll try it and update:). Thank you for sharing this formula and tweaks with us red headed gals! We have to stick together. Your hair is lovely btw!

    Im so excited to tweak my own formula of 8rg and 8g soon!!!! I'm a level 8 golden blonde. Also I've previously used 8rg and my hair turned out super copper red, I loved it!!! But I wanted more of a strawberry blonde 😣 so this video was super helpful for me! I'm thinking on doing 1/2 an ounce of 8rg and a whole tube of 8g just to be on the safe side, I don't want my hair turning out too red this time. Wish me luck 😍

    Hi Molly I've been using and ABTING your formula for over 3 years and here is what I know for sure. Wella only makes 20 vol. developer, at least that I've ever seen and I've tried mixing other brands level 10 developer with the formula (for ends only) and it just doesn't come out as good. Also I've noticed the same as you, my ends are always a bit darker. I have to do my hair every 4 weeks because I hate that line you see when the roots and grays come in. Thank you for putting this online, best advice ever!!

    I have mousy light brown hair naturally. I just use the 8 N on my roots and it comes out golden reddish blond. Perfect strawberry blond hair. It would look brassy on some skin tones, but it works for me, looks great!

    If your starting out from 8 blonde or lighter dont use 20 volume it lifts to.much from the 8g use 10 because it only deposits and you may wanna use more of the 7g but that is just my advice but the 10 volume is defiantly important I feel like I have pink hair now and my stylists said the 20 volume on my hair was probably the cause unless you have greys you don't really need 20.volume for permanent dye

    So, I'm a natural strawberry blonde and the blessing for those of us heading rapidly into our later years is that we often don't go grey. However, my eyebrows and eyelashes are a combination of SB with a smattering of white in my brows. I used to get my eyelashes dyed a blue-black, which was fine with blue eyes, but the BB home dye is pants, so I now use a dark brown home colour and use it on my brows as well, because the light brown home dye doesn't work either (on my hair). I'm happy with the DB on my eyelashes because I use mascara as well anyway - it just gives extra definition (and helps me to see where to put the mascara when I'm wearing my contact lenses), but I'd love to find a good dye for my brows that will give me a colour that will give me definition without being as harsh as the DB. I'm not expecting you to solve that problem for me - I'm really just pointing out that getting the right colour for us strawberry blondes is problematical too, because genuine SB hair doesn't take colour well and has the risk of going horribly wrong.

    • @girlgetglamorous
      @girlgetglamorous  11 місяців тому

      I've actually been bleaching mine with the Sally Hansen brow and face bleach (remember this drugstore classic? ha!) and I feel like it warms up my brows to match my hair better and also blends the grey and white hairs in. Maybe this is worth a try for you too?

      Hi Beth! I'm not a colorist, just a gal sharing my own hair color formula. So I really can't say what you should do exactly, and most colorists would only give a formula after seeing your hair in person. It's definitely worth trying once, if it comes out too hot at roots, you could always try adding a bit more of the 7G color into the formula. I hope this helps and you get a great color! - Molly

      I think 20 will probably work best for you :) It's the standard. 30 is more more deep brunettes trying to go much lighter.

    Hi Molly, so I colored my hair using Wella Color Charm. I used 1 once of 8RG and 2 once of 8G. The color came out great, absolutely beautiful. I am so amazed but unfortunately I noticed a significant hair loss. I guess ammonia is not good for my hair. I am so disappointed because I really like the color. Can you suggest other brands that do not use such harsh chemicals? Thanks!!!!

    Molly question... I have a light ashy blondish/brown root and 50% gray. If I were to use 9G instead of the 8G do you think that it would pick up lighter blonde? This is what I'm aiming for since you have more gray than me. Let me know if you ever tried that or thoughts... TY :)

    • @girlgetglamorous
      @girlgetglamorous  7 років тому +1

      I haven't tried that, but you probably would get a lighter strawberry blonde shade! I would use less of the 8RG with the 9G so that the formula doesn't turn too peach or pink.

    Hello beautiful Molly! Thanks for another great video :) Your hair seems lighter here than in your previous strawberry blonde video ( where you first share the wella formula). Also on your instagram pics, you seem so much blonder now! But then I watched your extensions video about red shades and if the "signature" shade is the one based on your color, it's darker than I thought!
    The "blonder" shade it's too light for me and I'm still trying to achieve the perfect shade based on your color but sometimes I'm confused :) I know it's nearly impossible to pin down an EXACT shade cause it changes so much with different lights...

      Hi! The lighting can be so tricky. I can take 3 photos in 3 different locations on the same day and my color will look totally different in each one based on lighting and the time of day.
      Have you tried this current formula? It's the one I use every 5-6 weeks for my color. It comes out a bit darker than my old 8RG and 8G formula.

    I’m so annoyed. This is the hair color I’ve been wanting and no salon listens to me. At first I had highlighted hair and asked for this color and it came out DARK brown with a tiny reddish cast. Then it faded and I went to another cosmetologist and told her what happened this time it came out red but medium to dark mahogany/copper red when I specifically asked for a medium or lighter natural copper red so I’m about ready to strip it and try myself.

    just tried your original formula and I love it- however it's a little too dark. What do you recommend as far as altering the formula to make it a little lighter? I believe I used a whole tube of the 8G, half a tube of the 8RG, and 1/4 of a tube of the 7G with 7oz of 20vol developer.

      Hi! I would take the amount of 7G way down. I only use about 4-5 pea size drops to deepen my formula up. I think the formula in this video would probably work for you. 2 oz of 8G 1.5 of 8RG and 4-5 pea size drops of 7G, 7 oz level 20 developer :)

      Hi Phoebe and thank you for being a part of the channel for so many years! You actually don't have to use the same Wella Color Charm color, just make sure you are using the same shade numbers. So 8rg (reddish blonde), 8g (golden blonde), and 7g (dark golden blonde). I hope that makes sense! You can usually find Wella in Europe, I can't remember the name of the product. But if you head to a beauty supply store and ask for those three shades, they should be able to help you find a match in Wella, Loreal, or another brand. I also recommend trying ebay!
