400KG was a speed rep and 430KG moved smooth too. 455 not quite there on the day, but damn Jamal is crazy impressive. Power to bodyweight ratio is ridiculous.
Yeah, I really thought he was gonna get the 1000lbs. I was just glad he beat Pa O'Dwyer. Pa's 400KG was a struggle and Jamal's 430KG was comfortable.
@@hedgehog1965ukwhat was the beef with Pa?
really smooth
@mrgaudy1954 Jamal is predominantly a sumo deadlifter. He pulled 500kg sumo...but Pa is always slagging off sumo and sumo lifters....and didn't respect his 500kg sumo pull.
@@gxshepherd Bizarre, sumo aside it’s been clear for a while that Browner was going to far exceed 400 kg conventional. So would have thought that Pa would keep his mouth shut to prevent getting humbled lol
sad that he missed 455KG, but still he did great 430KG with no suit is no joke!
I disagree, I think 430 with no suit is a massive joke! 😂
@@lukea136 You do know that suit helps you, not that it makes deadlift harder?
Not to mention, he's 30 to 60kg lighter than the other athletes competing there.
430 with a suit is insane
Bested Novikov, a former WSM champion.
I can't wait to see his instagram post of a max out deadlift at his gym in the next few days. As is tradition for him after competitions.
Comp is the only place where it matters.
@@vincentchao9916 and? he cant do a fun max out after as he always does?
Almost locks out 505💀
@@vincentchao9916 yes for some People’s egos, but to retain that ego, you have to work for it
I love the guest lifter element of these and other championships i remember Larry Wheels doing the Log Champs one year and Jamal looked strong here great showing 👍
It's really fun to see new faces or people we know from outside strongman compete instead of the same faces every competition.
No suit. Jamal is a beast. Truly impressive. Plus his bodyweight vs his pull capacity is insane.
the suit needs to go.
@@chrishayes5755 agreed. I'm fine with everything else but the suits have gotten ridiculous
@chrishayes5755 id be fine with single ply suits but some of the suits are getting stupid crazy where they cant even bend over. The rule should be if you cant get to a 90° body weight squat with the suit on you cant use it.
Body weight not so matter in dl u know that max 445 I thought any way he beast
@@chrishayes5755 not at all, strongman is growing and becoming bigger. While powerlifting is dying. People want to see the suits + 20 lifts instead of 3 barbell lifts.
Huge! Without a suit. He has all my respect. That's showing some balls
He didn't feel he had enough time to learn a suit. He will next year I hope
@@leonmunt6244 yeah he said something about a suit and next year on his instagram i think
perhaps if he had worn a suit his balls would not have shown
@@Spartan-ri8xjfair, as they get shoved back into your abdomen.
@@anthonyproffitt5341 ha,yep.
*That was outrageously impressive.*
That's incredible. 6 feet tall and 100kg he looks lean as. He pulled that first lift like it was nothing. Im excited to see how he develops in the future he can only get better.
He was around 122 kg for the event, they also mentioned it
@@tonymeli8118 he never got that weights
Happy he tried twice, that was awesome!
dangerous, guy barely even took a rest on an above max lift then tried to rip it again lol.
@@chrishayes5755it’s literally 60 seconds per attempt these are strongman rules not powerlifting. genius
I have tried this at the gym and there is usually no point after the first attempt, even for someone on PEDs, after the first attempt your CNS is drained and the second attempt usually has much higher risk of injury
Give this man a deadlift suit.
take away everyones deadlift suit.
@@chrishayes5755 strongman federations are fully equipped
That first pull came up so fast I though he was going to do an upright row!
Good video suggestion at the end, but next time make it take up the entire screen and block all of his lifts, not just the last one.
😅 I thought the same
I hope we see more of Jamal on Giants Live. Dudes a beast!
Extremely impressive performance
That's what i figured he'd pull. Hes not a 1000 pound deadlifter right now conventional and on a deadlift bar. But he did real good.
If he started ti lift with suit 1000p isnt far away
@@korvstopparen i think maybe even more
@@korvstopparen"if's" don't mean anything

Impressive in front of his biggest ever crowd kudos
What’s exciting is that he told the big loz that he needs to come back next year now. Just like Hicks for the next 12 months they’re just going to be training and I think Graham will get that 505 next year
Great lifts! Want to see him again!
Great job Jamal!
Good to see youngsters stepping up to the platform! Good effort & I am sure he will smash that weight next year!
Peace & Love!!!
He’s an experienced powerlifter but to even get invited and compete against all of these guys @ 270lbs shows how truly strong he is. He’s pulled 500kg in the gym in sumo stance. He doesn’t have that wide of a sumo either.
0:32 I looked away for like 2 seconds, heard the weight drop and thought it was a failed attempt. Now that was a crazy quick and smooth lift.
Imagine him turning around, pulling it 455 sumo
Strong
i'm not crying my eyes are just sweating
Incredible performance bodyweight ratio to weight pulled is nuts🔥🔥
Love seeing Jamal do a real lift
Benedict Magnuson pulled 465KGs without a suit, without straps and without shoes.
He also weights 50+ kilos more lmao, not as impressive pound for pound.
@@TheLifestyleCentre there are other athletes who are stronger than Jamal Pound for Pound, you really wanna open that can of worms?
This guy's is a beast at his weight pulling 400kg and 430 and 455 amazing my brother
He didn't pull 455. It only just broke the floor.
@@IsaacMorgan98 Technically he DID pull it, he just didn't hinge and lock it out. breaking the floor with that weight is good, and with that body weight is mad impressive
@@thanos5149 But he didn't deadlift it, he budged it but didn't deadlift it. Considering sumo fan boys claim little difference between sumo and conventional and sumo isn't easier. For Jamal to put on 12kg and be allowed straps for him to then fail 50kg less than his best sumo at a lighter weight without straps... It may still be good, but it falls a long way down from his claims.
@@IsaacMorgan98 New into lifting I see. :D
Cool to see him in the giants live line-up. Would be even cooler if he gave the full comp a try!
THAT 400 SPEED WHAT!?!
Almost as fast as Graham Hicks 470!
@@IsaacMorgan98 Jamal’s 400 was the fastest of the day, someone on Reddit already timed it lol. Nice glazing tho.
Giants you should make your videos about 15 seconds longer because the suggestions pop up during the lifts.
Giants live we hope to see Jamal at the next deadlift competition.
Best deadlifter in the world fn clean
Nnext year, U90Kg John Haack spawns and smokes 430Kg raw
yesssssssssaaa
dude is a beast
its impressive how he went from sumo to conversional and almost does the same weight.... crazy
That’s not crazy, that’s how most athletes are, especially if they actually spend some time doing conventional. I pull maximum stance sumo on a kabuki bar and my max was 690. I tried a stiff bar conventional and pulled 675 which is only 15lbs away. Idk why people assume that sumo is supposed to add hundreds of pounds😂
@@vitaliyvorobets2738 Sumo and conventional both are unique in their execution. The fact that the sumo style has less of a range of motion and emphazises muscle usage is enough that it should be considered a "different lift". But Browner is a specimen, many that pull ridiculous weight sumo can't match that conventional. It's just the way levers and changes in center of gravity work.
"Same weight" ??? He's pulled 505 on sumo but got 430 on conventional.
@@TL13579 so u missed the ALMOST?
That's incredible considering his body weight compared to other giants pulling the same 💪💪
Pound for pound one of the strongest humans on this planet!!
please invite him next year ! hope he puts a suit on and goes for the 470
its insanely impressive but still a shame to not see him be at his peak at the championship
🔥🔥🔥👆🏾🔥🔥🔥
I almost didn't recognize Jamal. The guy is so much bigger
Opener looked like a feather!
This guy is lifting double my deadlift PR!
1,5 mine
Come si fa a togliere la visualizzazione dei consigli alla fine del video? Impediscono di vedere bene il finale!
Jamal rules, I hope he gives it another shot with some suit training.
The main question we are all looking for is: Where is Ivan Makarov, and how much weight he lifted? On his preparations he posted video lifting 490kg and that video is still on his instagram.
The same reason why Thor's gym lift shouldn't count
I don't know if I've seen anybody who can total more with their conventional + sumo put together
Yupp because there isn't . Jamals sumo + conventional total is the best in the world that too just 265lbs
Rauno Heinla would be the only one I could think of
He did a 450kg sumo and a 476kg conventional
Nothing against Thor, but this is why Eddie's 500Kg lift is so much more impressive. Jamal would lift that in the gym most attempts. Hitting it in comp is another story however.
true
He’ll do that next week watch
He should’ve switched to sumo at the end 😂😂😂😂
Same thought!
Keep that in powerlifting
Pretty crazy how the flight can affect the lift/performance of the athletes as well.
yes and usually lifting on another continent you are probably forced to train when your subconscious isn’t acclimated because if he trains at 4pm in texas it was 10pm in england and he would’ve had to compensate sleep timing as well
@@benchgoblin and also when you take a competition like the shaw classic guys are also dealing with the elevation oxygen issues
I found that even a 6 hour flight to a new place had an effect, imagine flying from the US
Where is my super suit?!
Looks like there is a difference between sumo and conventional after all
Stupid comment. Obviously no shit. It’s different. No one said it wasn’t. Different people has different leverages
yes … the person’s biomechanics u fool
Yea the length of time he's been training them.
Bro stfu he just pulled 430 easy
Well, let's see Eddie or Haftor pulling 455kg sumo
How much did Pa do?!
guy is under 120kg, no suit and still almost deadlifted 455 that day, absolute unit
He weighed 122kg for this comp though
Almost? Nah lol , he wasn't close , maybe he had 445 in him but nothing more, very impressive still but his 500kg sumo lifts seem much less impressive knowing that his conventional is not even on the level of a lower tier strongman
@@davidkosiba624 he's not that heavy so the weights he's pulling are massive
@@davidkosiba624 What if he skipped 430 and went straight to 455?
@@davidkosiba624bro imagine him at 155kg bodyweight and 2 years of training.. + a suit!! He could crush the 501 kg deadlift record
Fastest 400kg conventional?
I really wanted him to get 1000lbs. He will one day.
The fact that he doesn't use opposite grip is insane.
They have figure of 8 straps why would he ise reverse grip lol
Now imagine him with a deadlift suit
If he starts using a suit he's got the 505 for sure
@@ExecutionSommaire stop it lmao
He seems to be strong off the ground, so he probably wouldn’t get much out of a suit.
Deadlift suits aren’t beneficial to all athletes. It’s very different from a bench shirt or even a squat suit. A suited deadlift isn’t gonna significantly change his numbers at all. There’s a reason he chose to not use it other than he wasn’t used to it. He had a year to prep and he definitely would have used a suit if he thought it would help. People are giving the suit waaaay too much credit.
@@ExecutionSommaire i hope its sarcasm
Дайте этому парню ещё 30 кг к своему весу, и 505 кг его
Agreed
that end card got in the way at the end. pls fix kthx
They made it pretty obvious that he didn't get the lift on the 2nd attempt, they blocked the entire lift with another video
I've just got back into weight training ( after 14 years of not doing jt 😂)
I'm literally lifting a quarter of this and barely managing 😂
Give this guy some time, with more training...💪
I wonder if he let them make him to use sumo. He'll be a juggernaut
That's for the people, arguing about what's more impressive, Eddie's or Thor's WR. Jamal deadlift 500 in gym, but didn't pass 455 in competition.
he travelled from the US though, Eddie did it in his home town at an event which was tailor made for his attempt and created basically so that he could do the DL with ''competition rules'', I'm not hating that's just fact though
Are people getting stronger this is insane. He’s not even fat.
He’s arguably the best deadlifter in the world, he competes in the 110kg weight class and his main stance is sumo he pulled 500kg in the gym on kg plates sumo and here he is proving the haters wrong pulling the same weight as people wearing suits weighing 50 kg more
He's done 500kg in the gym before. Definitely a contender to hit 505 in the future.
sumo
not conventional
two different lifts
@@randompasserby5241 And probably on a non-standard bar, e.g. the same as the Hummer Tire Deadlift (WR 549Kg).
@@budthecyborg4575I think he was training with a Kabuki deadlift bar. Ultra whippy
Let him pull sumo next time without a suit. He will get that 510kg deadlift.
Commentator sounds like a damn Bugenhagen
Record for the beasts of beasts with Hall & Bjornson is ~500kg and this guy with half their weight is (almost) doing 455 ? Jesus Christ what the hell. He could become the next record man if he continue to pushes.
He didn’t almost deadlift 455, not even close.
@@Majeed_1995 ...Did you watch the same video ? He just did 430 without issues and 455 wasn't there but it got off the floor
He normally pulls sumo. Nice to see him switch it up to conventional
He had to pull conventional, sumo is not allowed in Giants Live.
The cameraman's elbow is burning down. isn't it ? (1:59 - 2:01)
Right let's move on Eddie is the beast end off
Good showing from Jamal, if only sumo was allowed
If sumo was allowed he would have won, given his sumo stance gives him what looks to be ~20% extra weight on the bar for free and no one else trains it.
The reason sumo isn't allowed though is cause it doesn't show how strong someone is, this sorts proves that. Jamal can out deadlift a prime Eddie Hall and Thor if he's allowed sumo and they aren't but if he's not allowed sumo he can't do what the top boys do for speed reps.
@@IsaacMorgan98 "it doesn't show how strong someone is" Bruh...you must be smoking on that crack if you believe this. I don't care what body weight or type of stance you take sumo or conventional....if you can lift 500kg, you ARE strong
Why? Keep that shit in powerlifting
Yes its still in freakish territory but whats the point of a competition if we aren’t comparing freaks?
Eddie pulling 500kg conventional requires more strength than Jamal pulling 500kg sumo
@@IsaacMorgan98he is not a main conventional puller.
If he could sumo, 455 would have flown.
Well yeah sumo with straps he's already done 500kg in the gym
Imagine Jamal training in a DL suit ... the guy would probably pull 1050lbs no problem - might have a shot at 500kg, which is insane at his bodyweight
A deadlift suit doesnt help much, this isnt bench. He barely budged 454.
His hybrid sumo is the cleanest sumo
But hand straps are legal?
It's strongman, almost everything is legal. The whole point is to see how much weight can be lifted and they don't really care what you wear as long as it's lifted.
So sumo was banned in this event?
я так же сумки из ,,Ашана,, несу до парковки
He tips the scale at 268.96.
How many of you can pull that “with no suit.” ??? I’m thinking not very many. 😂
Keep lifting, and eating! 😆
Was he not allowed to pull sumo in this event?
commentator is neil pickup?
Yes! The world champion arm wrestler
He's a minimum of 100lbs lighter than every other competitor and he's not wearing a suit, I'd be embarrassed if i were those other competitors competing against him 😂
What if he skipped 430 and went straight to 455?
The same wall would be waiting to smash his dream 😂
Still doesn't look like he's there yet. maybe 445 is more reasonable but training with a suit for a year might make him be competitive next year. Most competitors are aiming for a record while he could undercut them and get the win
Was he injured
He's just not strong enough.
He's just recently focusing on conventional
No, he's just not strong enough to do what he claims without a sumo stance
@@IsaacMorgan98did he really say he can do 500kg?
@@cky7765 He claimed 455, didn't get it.
I totally respect Jamal. The guy is a great strength athlete and complete/balanced powerlifter. No doubts. But I still don’t get it when people use him for pointing out that his nice conventional is a proof of sumo not being easier. I mean, the guy pulls 500kg sumo (with straps) keeping a smile, and his conventional (still amazing) is noticeably lower and harder. I think he is actually a proof of conventional being way harder.
Each lift is harder for each person.
He has trained primarily sumo for like a decade and dedicated way more time to it, probably why he’s better at it.
I’ve dedicated time to both and find conventional way easier for my leverages and lifting style.
Lolol people actually thought he could win. Now everyone changed their tune to 'it's so impressive that he didn't have a suit' and shit lol
Delusional huh
Nobody said he was going to win, calm down. Most people just said he’s on for 455.
Haters really just making shit up for fun huh?
@@mattsmith3049 people definitely thought he was going to win, always talking about him vs Makarov lol
Bruh who genuinely doesn't find this impressive? Dude is a freak.
@@littlethuggie makarov did horrible this championship
He looks old enough to be Andrew Jacked's dad
Nobody can do second attempt so fast after fail.
And people still think sumo is the same a deadlift
If any ones name fits a person
He should try to go for 1000lbs in the gym just to break that plateau mentally and come back next year with a suit
Why couldn’t he wear a suit?
Not even 455, tf are ppl talking about?
Это с тем учетом ,что он без экипировки
Disappointing showing given that he's pulled much heavier in training at lighter bodyweight. Nerves I guess.
he has never pulled 455 conv, and that was the only jump from 430. if he tried 445 he would of most likely gotten it
He has sumo deadlifted much heavier and as this just proved, sumo deadlifts are significantly easier than conventional and don't translate to conventional.
