Austin here trying to hold back the profanity in the wrap up of this video.
We’ve all been there brother.
Looking great so far. Well done. You are going to make it a lot easier for the next person who has to go through the same challenges. 👍
Here are three things you can watch forever: fire, water, and Austing working =) Good Job!
Haha thank you!!
Take the back door to a window shop and they'll figure which gasget you need.
Bro…this is one if not THE SICCCKKESSSTT FJ’s I’ve EVER seen!!! Geez😂🙌🏻
Thanks bro! Sheesh! 👍👍
Man I understand the struggle. It's difficult as a creator too because you have to publish a video. You can't just leave it in the garage and take care of it later. You kind of have to figure things out on the fly and it makes working on projects that much harder and time consuming. Still, the 40 looks amazing. Great job so far on this build.
Thank you! Yes exactly! I can't just go work on something else especially when I haven't put a video out in 2 weeks! It's gotta get done NOW! lol
Why not use OEM gaskets for the windows? They aren’t discontinued.
I can’t find them for a 71! I’d love to see where you are finding them!
With all the custom touches and modifications you've done on this FJ, those tail lights are so sanitary. Fitting glass can be super frustrating for sure. Awesome job on everything, defiantly one of the best builds for sure.
Thanks man! Yes glass is no fun when you have the wrong gaskets!
Even with the right gasket it’s super hard too. I’ve tried to replace my Land Cruiser pickup canopy glass and it was an epic fail
This rig is amazing - I’m binging all the episodes. You’ve done such a great job!
My only thought was, is there any drainage from your tail light frames? If water makes it past the light gasket it looks like it might pool against the body?
Супер! Україна дивиться.
Don't beat yourself up. Failure is the BEST teacher
Your tint DOTS is dirt between the glass and the tint! Use more water to clean the glass and DO NOT LAY the glass flat! Lean them against something so you can soak the crap out of them.! The soap and water washes out the dirt. You have to use a lot of water.!
Why not contact ICON in CA I bet they can tell you what they use for the gaskets
that advice will cost you $199.99
Rubber on glass first. Use rope to seat into window channel
Good Job, young man, "Finn", couple questions: You have to heat up your items, before you Power Coat them?? How long, How hot?? And, after you done Power Coating, same thing: How long, and How hot??, Does it depens, how large/ small is item?? Thank You, greeting from South Florida, from another Finn, only 90 F today ;o)
That's it sometimes the best thing to do is walk away ,..clear your head and start again.....the fifth time.....windows argh.......and then when they have brand new gaskets and leak....oh boy.....
If this is locking window gasket then I would think it’s missing the plastic locking strip that goes in the groove to actually lock the window in place like on a Chevy squarebody truck???
I must admit to having a quiet chuckle regards your window gasket woes, its nice to see that you are the same as the rest of us, window instals always got the better of me too (at least you haven't broken one yet). I admire your engineering, and like that you admit your failures along with your victories. This is definitely a project that seems to be a case over build, in that a stock FJ would probably go everywhere this one will go, just not quite as fast or as pretty. One would hope that you will make some vids of you actually wheeling this beast. One suggestion regards the looks .... consider powder coating/painting the bolt/screw heads, the silver looks out of place. This isnt a criticism of the build , I love it, would I want it, hell yes ... would I wheel it, NO its too nice to bend or break ( I'm not a lot different to you in that regard). Keep up the great work.
Two observations from your window install. Put para cord in the rubber seal and use it to pull the seal through ( ua-cam.com/video/QvcJ_lU_VpQ/v-deo.html ) . The second install the lock seal into the rear window and check the fitment before rejecting that seal size as the lock rubber may take up the slack.
3M makes a epoxy for glueing windows in the channels
I retrofit third or 4th gen 4Runner whipper arms on my 85 u may be able to do the same thing just swap the 75 whipper on
factory window gaskets there are several vendors selling them. There still going to be a giant pain but atleast they fit...
I like wd-40 for windows. Most of the locking strips are a pain in the ass.
You forgot to use the heat gun for shrinking the tint. Nevertheless great video man!
Dude I recently discovered your channel you do great work and I'm honestly studying your film style. Being a 1 man show you keep people interested. I'm a new youtuber trying to figure things out. My end product won't be as nice as yours I'm sure since you have some nicer tools but I really want my project to turn out at least half as nice as yours keep up the great work and content.
@@DRDE_CUSTOMS thanks man I appreciate that!
Jesus Christ no other name given whereby men can be saved.
those dots in your tint should go away in a couple of weeks
What suspention did you use on your Land Cruiser?
give it to me 😅, that would salve all your problems lol
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My fingers hurt just watching this
Nice job 🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦
Austin are you related to Devin neimela?....... ......... Great work I really like your work 👌
Yes Devin is my brother! And thank you!!
Your knack for excellence is inspiring Austin, go on brother!
Looks awesome!! 👍 Thanks!!!
Awesome work as usual! I'd love to start blasting and powder coating some parts. What media are you using in your blasting cabinet?
I usually use aluminum oxide media! I just bought some green diamond but haven't tried it yet, supposed to be good stuff too!
Good effort mate, don’t lose heart haha
Ford bronco 1966-70😊😊
give yourself credit !
I would have been ordering cameras and monitors half way welding pieces of sheet metal onto those windows ! 😇
😂😂 I was about there!!
All the rubbers you showed in your video needs an aditional strip inside the rubber. You should put the rubber inbetween the window and the car with the "third" opening on the side pointed outwards. After placing the window you ad the filler stip. This strip compresses te rubber so it locks te window in place.
Yes this is exactly how I did it, the gaskets are simply the wrong size!
Hard work but this thing will be so worth it!
How tiring is adjusting
This car looks amazin man!
Getting sooo close... 😮
Keep up the good work bro, you are almost there.
You are inspirational to all of us following your channel.
Thank you so much 😀
Looking great man.
I’ll just weld an updated wiper arm end (where the blades connect) from a more modern design and get better blades. Those old blade design don’t do a good job.
Not gonna lie, this is what I would do too. I know he's spent a lot of time on this, but he should totally do this to save some $$$
The tint will be fine for wheeling if you add some side and rear flood lights. Some rock lights would be useful as well and not just for show. 👍
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
U r Genius bro
Very very good
I felt your pain brother! The FJ is looking killer!
You will get it .!
Hello from the uk, your build s are on. Another level
nice job!
Nice
Austin, I know this kind of frustration, take it easy and take your time, everything will gonna be fine. Great job, congrats, man.
First to watch 🎉
После этого 😂😂
Looking good--love the updates as you go. Would really enjoy seeing an "outakes" or "blooper" video. Lots of cussing, throwing stuff around, etc. That would be a fun way to see a little more behind the scenes. Keep up the great content!
Great work, man.
Thank you and I wish you success. Your follower is from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
windows are pain man !!!!
They sure are!!
Estou ansioso pra ver este projeto andando... Trabalho magnifico.👏👏
First, a canvas is inserted into the rubber. the glass is installed and then the canvas is removed
I get it about thr windows, you just have to step back and try them another day.
It will all come together the next time.
Great video as always , looking forward to the finished FJ.
I really like these builds I haven’t been this excited since Trevor from motion auto built the Supra
Days like that happen 🤷♂️ your FJ is going to be awesome when it's done
cant you try the string trick on the newest gaskets you bought that looked like theyd work?? they just look like they need some love, maybee put the gasket on the glass and then try installing or use a plastic trim removal tool and run it around the window edge under the rubber to pull the flappy flap... idk man been watchin this build since you had chassis complete which was when i found it through youtube and binge watched it and now its just sick... glass or no glass, also those dots are dust under the tint....
Fj looking hella dope bro..🤙🏽
Thanks man!
Fantastic so far! Glass can be frustrating. Still the cleanest looking FJ40 around.
I'm watching all these great project videos in Korea. I praise you for your persistence and outstanding ability
As always enjoy watching the build progress. It is funny that you mentioned everyone thinking it's been so long since you last posted. But it has felt like it has been longer lol. Just really enjoying seeing the progress and it's not letting anyone down. It's a great rig.. 👍 it looks fantastic. The hiccups with the windows will work out. Curious, did Toyota have two bumperettes on the rear bumper ? Anyway, again this is a great looking rig and seeing it all come back together. It's a lot of fun.
😎👍
I think all the hard ball days make ya really appreciate the project more when it’s done. If it all went together like legos we’d all forget the things we get done pretty quick
brother I truly enjoy and love your custom work and would pay you if I could to do work for me awesome work a true fan you inspire me honestly in Eastern KY.
Hopefully you read this Austin you can buy a cheap wiper blade modern and take them apart and cut them to make those wiper work
Take a look at Jeep wrangler windshield wiper arms. Not sure if the splines and diameter would match, but it would get you into a more readily available wiper blade setup.
Those headlights 😮💨 mamá mía!!
Awesome work Austin! If you still have the third gasket, you could try using bug screen spline in between the main gasket and the glass in the channel. You can get pretty small spline that will compress and fill that gap and keep the glass secure. Might be a pain to install as it will be pretty tight, but it might work
Hola Austin excelente video, donde esta el toyota hilux blanco?
Hang in there bud you'll get it. Rig is looking killer
Did you think of using smoked headlight paint on the corner windows?
I've wanted to try that. We used to put clear coat on the paint booth glass... once it got covered in paint dust... take an air hose and blow the clear coat off. We couldn't have electric inside the booth so the booth was made of glass with exterior lights
I wont mind being your assistant man on the restoration jobs.
Holla back
I would buy that jeep in a heartbeat if i was in the states. Great work Austin
Put the tinted glass in the sunlight let the sun works it’s magic.
You could run a small bead of windshield urethane under the rubber to seal it.
You edit these videos perfectly!👏
This has to be one of the best builds on Utube ever
Of all the years I have been watching you Austin and all the ups and downs of fabricating and mechanics which pisses me off to no end and watching you Just truck on through….i would have never guessed window jams/seals would be your demise. 😅
Haha no kidding!! I just need to find the correct size gasket and it should be a breeze!
No stone unturned! Going to be an amazing truck 💪🏼💪🏼 nice work bro
Thank you man!! I can’t wait to finish it!
It’s really coming together. So much custom work. An insane amount of modifications. It’s wild how you’ve got the abilities to do it all. Great work and I look forward to the next one!
Thank you man! I learn as I go!!!
good job!
I thought the second gasket looked fine but someone was mentioning a locking strip
The locking strip was in!!
Great build. Where did you get the driver and passenger mirrors? Looking for a set that mounts to the old doors.
Thanks! I built the mirrors!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I always enjoy watching you work Austin. You’re always so careful and precise. You never seem to get annoyed or angry when things go wrong. A true craftsman.
Thank you! I definitely lose my cool sometimes, just not on camera haha
Wuz up 😎🤘🏼
What's upppppp!
U should use rope put inside the ruber then slowly pull as u slowly push the rubber. Its easy to install if you know the technique
Sell to @whistlindiesel 22:50
Incredible JEEP👍🏻 Good luck to find normal gasket))
