Nature sows directly outdoors. Many times, plants sown directly outdoors are more vigorous and healthier. Also It's often easier as well and that is why we built an outdoor seed starting area.
Journey with us on our video series where we layout and built the best seed starting outside in a contained environment where seedlings are less prone to pests and diseases.

Definitely! :)
Very grateful for you sharing your building plans. We have made some tables from your plans and we love them. They are strong and sturdy and will last us for many years to come. We really are appreciative that you are sharing your projects with us. Love to see how you are setting up your property as this is what we would like to do too. Awesome! Keep up the good work and informative videos. God bless!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you Hollis, Nancy, and Bing Bing, God bless all of you! Hollis, that was painstakingly brilliant work, for one man, on his knees most of the time, building from the bottom up! Fantastic job working the camera Nancy! You deserve as much credit for your expertise in this area. Bing Bing, that big hug from Hollis isn't enough, you deserve more! You are the silent spectator onsite, giving everything your approval! They're truly blest having you around for moral support! I'd love to see the ingenious way in which you've transported this storage box to the seed starting area. Truly Hollis, you're one of a kind, and we're truly blest that you've chosen to document everything for the benefit of all of us watching your videos, and learning from you. God has a special reward for all this hard work, and we pray that it's continuous, for all the planning, patience, and most of all the effort, that you put into executing everything. We truly, are blest just knowing you! Keep up the good work, and just holler for help if you need it, because lots of us, I'm sure are eager to lend more than a hand! I'll end on that note, but you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. God bless, and stay blessed! Amen!
Loved seeing your little helper there. I would love to see more stuff with Bing Bing!
Donna Saunders : me too! A Bing Bing side show 😆
Working on it!
Nice video.
Looks like you have plenty of room to work and nice surroundings.
A box built to last, no fancy gas struts.
Love your videos! Thanks to you both ❤
Glad you like them!
Good job Hollis and Bing Bing, you both did a great job.👍👍 Thanks for sharing with us, Fred.
Our pleasure!
Have you ever noticed how, at the beginning of the video, Hollis greets us with a huge smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye? He's downright CUTE and you can't say that about too many men our age...LOL. Happiness makes you glow, old boy - and in turn causes a smile on the rest of us. God bless you both. xo ps- How large a piece of property did you purchase? It seems massive!!!!
15 acres. Thank you for watching Blessings
Thats so true!!
Your tools and workmanship are what I would expect from a good tradesman! Only a quantity servayer would make a cutting list like that.
I love seeing you cuddle Bing Bing. He's such a great co-worker.
Sometimes I have to stop what I’m doing and get some lovin from Bing Bing ❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️🐶
Thank yall for your videos, we really appreciate it. Blessings and great health to you all 👍🙏🇺🇸

It sure is
That box is a good idea will be interesting to see how it works
Love how Bing bing supervises the built plus gets a little loving. As always your build is awesome. It must be totally awesome in person. It is on tape. Love the way you have done your videos explain then put together with cool instrumentals. God bless you and Nancy.
Thank you! 😊
Outstanding!!! Looking forward to part's #4 & #5. I just have a few more raised beds to assemble/build and then the rewards of planting. Semper Fi
It is such a blessing that you freely share such detailed designs. I sincerely thank you.
You are so welcome!
That is the sturdiest box ever.
Love that seed starting area! You have thought of everything. I also love how Bing Bing supervised the build to make sure that you got it all right! Lol..... ♡
Totally!
You have been working really hard Hollis building all those tables and bins and you to Nancy, you are the camera woman out there in the heat too! Much Blessings to you both and Bingbing a woof woof!
Thanks for watching! We are almost there❤️
@@HollisNancysHomestead That's great, you'll be able to take it easy a bit more then and have some fun fishing etc.
Hollis is singlehandedly keeping the PT lumber buisness fully funded....LOL....
Sombody needs to take up a collection and get Hollis a nice brushless drill combo set and a couple extra 4-AH batteries!
Bing Bing is a great supervisor.
Well equipped and very good job done, very professional👍
I has lost y'all for a minute.. But, won't he do it.. I'm so glad, I found y'all again!! Not sure what happened. I've got to go back and see what I've missed. Thanks for sharing. Peace
Great storage box! Good decision to put corrugated metal top for run-off. Good thing Bing Bing was supervising. Everything's really shaping up beautifully. Unrelated question: how are you dealing with the sand in that area? My mom lived one town over from you, now the tiny place is mine, and that sand drives me nuts. Good health and happiness to you; hugs and kisses for Bing Bing.
You’re dogs so cute just staring at you while you work
:-)
Beautiful craftsmanship! 👍🏽
Having trouble with my back I like the overall design of the outside of this thank you for this video
Thats a good looking box
I know where you are coming from..my dad loved to get things done in the morning however I cannot deal with the humidity..... I much rather do my stuff later in the day after 6pm ...I know I am limited by daylight but I can’t deal with the morning humidity....I guess to each his own....love your videos...👍👍
Always enjoy your builds and I think it's amazing you are offering the plans for people. :) But I'm anxiously awaiting your produce videos... Especially to know how you manage stink bugs and vibe borers! Those buggers are making summer gardening best impossible the last 2 years. :'(
Great looking storage box. You ARE going to get much use of it in the future.
That's the plan!
You have the coolest little shop mate 🤣 Love the build by the way. I'll probably build something similar for a storage box on the deck.
Liked music and dog remind s me of my wennie hound p.s great work
You guys look happy. Mixed couple to boot. Thats America! ✌ Thank you for the vid. Lets try it!
Yall are so inspiring , thank you for these great videos.
Our "Blues guitar "play-list is probably identical 😊. Shuffle on!
IMPECCABLE! Nice Job!
Looks great, that will be my next project.
awesome, amazing set up. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I hear ya on, a place to keep things where ya USE them!! Let's see, is it in the shed, the kitchen tool drawer, the grow room, nope, the garage, the garden cart, uh uh, hmmmmm,
There it is, in the boat!! lol OK, why do I need this? Luckily, my place is only 4 acre's.
Still, my riding mower and garden cart double nicely as a golf cart. Nice Build!!
TYFS Stay Safe and Well
Mark and Rosa
Exactly!!
Thank you for letting me know what to have for making the best gardening racks ,
👍
Are you planning to build a new soil reclamation box or use the one from the old homestead? I noticed its not on any of your seed starting area plans. Or did you find that not practical in the long run? I'm planning to combine your 2 box build ideas to build my reclamation box. I think the angled lid is a great idea.
loved watching this.
Bing Bing the supervisor is at it again!
Step by step! Closer
To that goal.
BLESSINGS 💖
Very inspiring! I'm rewatching this one for the fourth or fifth time. Every bit of this outdoor storage box is so crazy efficient. I'm thinking of building one half size for our lower 1/3 acre section to support the smaller garden plots, container gardens. Saving up for that sliding cut off saw and more clamps. I'm thinking of using composite decking for some of the horizontal surfaces. Note to self: yeah.. I definitely need more quick grip clamps.
You can do it!
Thank you!
Bing Bing is the construction foreman, but he needs his loving from Daddy, first.
Great garden storage box. I'm sure you are glad you bought all that wood for projects around the homestead before the price of lumber doubled.
I am. I have paused the remaining builds until the lumber prices come down. I can’t pay $10.47 for a 2x4!!!
If you use the corrugated clear composite roofing, it would let the light in, making it double as a cold frame. Plus, you wouldn’t have to open the lid to see the contents.
20:45 Awwww.....
My husband was wondering if you were a navy HT or Draftsman? ✨✨✨
Retired Design Engineer for Shipyard
Seems like making the sides out of plywood would make it a lot lighter. But finding cheap plywood these days is a chore all its own. Great box build though, I might have to try this build myself.
Much lighter but won’t last as long
I enjoyed your videos🥰
Glad you like them!
Did you leave any space between the floor boards on the bottom when you were building the soil reclamation box?
I bet that was a heavy one, hahaha. Looks good and should last for a while. Are you going to paint them?
We LOVE your puppy, Bing Bing, I hope I spelled that right. What's the story of the puppy?
It looks incredibly heavy (& expensive). Maybe a good bomb or typhoon shelter as well.
Just curious, does Hollis have music in the shop while he works?
No but he wants some.
I know I'm off subject . I want to know if you ever use woodchips in the garden? Not a suggestion, I want to know if it's a benefit.
like the music
Hollis are you using different seeds now that you are in a more tropical area? I'll be moving into your area and I'm concerned my Tennessee seeds won't do as well because of the climate difference.
Same seeds
Just need that auto egg getter now.:)
Looks good, looks heavy. I would have built it on site instead of having to move it. The lumber store must love you.
He built it so he never has to build it again. Also we built it over 5 yeasts ago and tit still there thru 5 hurricane and 3 freezes
Like the size of the box need to make Ray’s beds
Hi Hollis, Great build. I did notice some corner pieces you put in the lid that wasnt on the diagram. Would you have info on those pieces? Thanks so much.
Basic 45 degree corner bracing
@@HollisNancysHomestead Ok. Thanks!
I have the same question as munchkin5674????
what kind of wood are you using?
I believe its PT Pine.
Before you put that last side on it, it would have made a nice bench, just put a thick cushion in it and you would have had a resting place while out in your garden.
Great idea
Hey guys, I tried the 5 gallon bucket of potato and didn't get a one. What did I do wrong?
I dd the same and got too little , 4 buckets and about 6 potatoes. I think I needed bigger holes, I should have added sone potassium, or wood ashes. and because I did not have big enough drain holes some of them rotted in the bucket.
Hopefully you'll not work harder in retirement but yeah it might be a love job.
That roof is hideous. Sorry.
No need to apologize for your opinion, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
@@HollisNancysHomestead Very true and well put. I still admired your video, you are clearly skilled.
Thank you friend👍
